Was Don Eladio the only Hispanic in the show that actually had some lines, and actually has a Natural Spanish accent?

all the other hispanics with lines that were translated sounded fake/forced with their accents, why is this?

edit: Im a natural born Cuban whose 1st language is Spanish, it was really easy to hear the difference. Also some of the words choices they used were odd and out of place for natural spanish Dialogue, and seldom times they would translate the words to text which wasn't fully accurate.

I hate noticing all these faults, damn my mother for teaching me spanish, lol

Juan Bolsa ("Hermanos") the prior cartel boss, Max Arciniega, and the Tortuga (Danny Trejo FTW) are all natural Spanish speakers. Gus' accent pulls me out too sometimes (I speak Spanish too), but not enough to diminish the show.

By the way, captions during the Spanish dialogue work just fine on Amazon instant streaming.

Danny Trejo was speaking an a really forced Spanish when I heard him, lol.

I forgot to mention that the guy who met with him at the bar (with the turtle gift) was also one who has a really smooth native Spanish accent, you could tell he spoke it (and the Mexican slang he used was totally natural as well).
You may hate yourself for noticing them, but we hate you for getting annoyed by them ;)

Ultimately, the actors were not hired on their ability to speak Spanish, given how small a component of the show it has been thus far, and you can't really fault Giancarlo Esposito's performance in any other way, so I think it was a worthwhile tradeoff.

I'll give you that they should have had more accurate / realistic translations of the dialogue, as that's a little less forgivable, but it's still not a huge issue.

Yeah, I'm just glad they are done with Spanish actors as far as we know, I'd like to see some German Translated because I don't know a single word of it and I won't be pulled out of the immersion if I notice any inaccuracies in their dialogue or accents.

That's awesome. I can't wait to see the one for Episode 6

EDIT: HEY WALT IS BALD IN THE EPISODE 2 ONE EVEN THOUGH HE WASN'T BALD YET WTF

He looks bald, but there's actually hair.

I wish Jesse would let his hair grow back for the rest for the rest of the series. However, based on Aaron Paul's appearances on late-night talk shows and interviews it doesn't seem like it'll happen. :/

well we also don't know what the time span of season 5 will be. If I remember correctly it's been 7 months and some change at the beginning of season 4, after that I'm not 100% sure what the timeline is like, but season 5 probably starts right off at the end of 4 since Paul's hair is cut.

So unless they do some major flash forward in the first couple episodes of season 5 his hair may just stay short (although we don't know what's up with Season 5 Part 2)

UPDATE: HTF member TravisR has found a workaround to the subtitles problem. After the disc finishes loading and the main menu appears, click on Subtitles and engage the English subtitles. Then turn the English subtitles off (it is not necessary to leave the subtitles menu and come back - just engage the subtitles and you can immediately turn them off). Then play the disc and the English subtitles will appear whenever the dialogue is in Spanish. It is not necessary to do this for each episode. I tried the fix and then watched the Spanish-language scene in of Episode 7, "Problem Dog," and it worked flawlessly. Then I played episode 8, "Hermanos," jumped ahead to the Spanish scene and the English subtitles engaged automatically.

anyone try this?

Wait, what's this about subtitles? Is there an issue with them appearing correctly on DVD/Blu-ray? (sorry, but I haven't been following this thread lately) I'm expecting the Blu-ray any day now, and if I knew there was a problem with it I probably would've waited until they released fixed copies.

Thanks. :)

I can't believe they're showing Gus' death from the end of season 4 while doing a marathon for the previous seasons. wtf lol

Breaking Bad - Se Se Season 5

I love the mentions of Germany in the last episode of season 4. Dat foreshadowing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marie (about Walt): Why didn't you people put him in the car?

Hank: Uh, because it's not Nazi Germany.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skylar: Steve, are you.. are you even looking into this?

Gomez: We're looking into everything, but we work on fact not conjecture. And the fact is that the scumbags that hit you first were Mexican Cartel, not some German multinational whatever.

No, but I often watch movies/shows with English subtitles turned on.

I used to do that a lot as a kid. Not so much anymore. I think I'll start doing it again when I have kids, though. I think it helped out upping my reading comprehension a lot.

Anyway, I just saw a new scene on AMC where
Walt says Skyler should be at least relieved he's not dead. Then she says she's relieved but also scared. Then Walt asks her of what and then she says of him.
