I though this was a well known fact.<---- oh shit, Nintendo invented Bananas.

They said best version in terms of functionality, not in terms of graphics I thought. That would be the same
This confirms the obvious, the Wii U graphics should be incredible.
Nice to have Sony and Microsoft playing catch up for a change. I expect the cutting-edge hardware in the Wii U will push them to release their next consoles a bit quicker.
The expectation of Nintendo systems is amazing innovative gameplay. If all you care about is graphics, you're probably more suited to a PC.
I wonder how frustrating the 5th Cell CEO finds this thread...

This is interesting, because it's wrong.
hmm so he did say it, I just read what he said I didnt watch it

Graphically, it's factual.
No, it isn't. Iwata said many times there aren't trying to compete in graphics processing power.
You may think that Nintendo consoles need to "catch up" to some arbitrarily defined specification determined by other consoles or yourself, but that's just a make believe land.

Who are we to believe?!
No it isn't. Hell even if you don't take Iwata's word for it, If Nintendo was trying to catch up, they wouldn't go for less powerful hardware, they'd simply catch up. It's absurd to think that a company with the money and experience Nintendo isn't catching up on the graphics front because they're not capable of it.Graphically, it's factual.
If they didn't think they needed to compete, they wouldn't be making a HD console. They would have stuck to Gamecube graphics, which Iwata claimed were "good enough" years ago.
They're trying to compete, they're just not able to because of their unwillingness to sell at a loss.

Nintendo is bent on sticking to their own thing and who can blame them considering how it went for them this gen?
If there's an area they're trying to catching up on is 3rd party support, online and digital distribution, graphically it's clearly not their objective.

I always presumed the arguments weren't that it was more powerful or less powerful, but how much more powerful than them.
We wouldn't be going in these circles if Nintendo would just release the specs. Why the secrets Nintendo?
Yeah, they could have built a larger console with a noisier fan and got rid of the touchscreen gamepad and used that money for "horsepower!"

Remember, this is the company that coined the phrase, "Now you're playing with power."
Can't let the competition in on these things, especially price.
They could have sold at a loss like Sony or Microsoft and released a superior console which would have a longer life and offer a superior gaming experience. But it seems like Nintendo fans are more interested in Nintendo making money than they are their hardware competing.

Why do you equate a few extra "FLOPS" or another 2 or 3 duck taped Gamecubes to "superior gaming experience"
I enjoyed playing most of the Wii games I bought more than many of the multiplatform offerings on the PS360.
Why do people really give a shit if its more powerful or not? Cant you just enjoy the games that are released and leave it at that? No, of course you cant - its the ever stupid, negative, fanboy driven internet

Because people on here are annoying as shit. Of course it's more powerful than the PS3/360. It was easy to see that the moment I saw the Zelda tech demo at E3.Wait, why would he find that "frustrating" ?
That is odd.
It's unbelievable we still dont really know about the Wii U. What the hell.
Meaning, exactly what CPU, GPU, clocks, RAM.
A more powerful system is incapable of not offering higher potential for games. To claim otherewise is absurd. A game like Zelda would be 100x better with more power behind it. It's just unquestionable.
Considering that the best Zelda game came out on the N64, you're argument is wrong.

It's incredible how many pessimistic, ignorant Nintendo haters there are on here. Like the morons in this thread trying to discredit Jeremiah because he hasn't released anything on the PS3. Do you people honestly think he's not grossly familiar with both the 360 and PS3 hardware? Do you think 5th Cell is without those dev kits and haven't run software on each? Do you honestly think they, themselves, don't have some sort of benchmark for the hardware they have available?
That's why I agree that it's a bit frustrating. It seems like individuals who haven't gone hands-on with the unit, nor are in any particularly educated position, make assumptions and influence others without any proper backing.
I couldn't care less how powerfully the Wii U is, but spreading false information based on a hunch makes us all look dumb, and accomplishes nothing. Yeah, it's irritating.
the fact that people are still going back and forth over this shows just how crappy Nintendo's been with educating people exactly what is under Wii U's hood.
This is such a stupid, desperate comment.
The reason people care is because people want to play Nintendo games, but they don't want a console that is so far behind the curve it isn't going to be relevent for anything other than Nintendo games. If Nintendo released a console that was as powerful as any other console on the market, and got most the third party games, it would be my main console. But it's more likely we'll get another Wii, where I play nothing but 1-2 Nintendo games a year and that's it. People want more of a return on their investment than that, because people want to play Nintendo games without the sacrifice that comes with owning Nintendo hardware.

The best version of that game came out on the 3DS.
Unquestionable? If Skyward Sword looked like Uncharted I would bet you it would also be the length of Uncharted, not the 30 + hour epic it was. You are clearly being absurd yourself buddy
Can you name an actual Wii U game, rather than a tech demo, which looks better than a 360/PS3 game?
Cos launch titles for 360 and PS3 certainly looked better than Xbox and PS2.
Considering that the best Zelda game came out on the N64, you're argument is wrong.
I can't believe we are, what, 4-5 months until system launch and there's still so much misinformation & confusion.
Look no further than their baffling E3 conference. I guess that was part of the problem...?
Like you said, they could. It's just that they don't want to or in other words, they aren't trying to catch up graphically. How this isn't obvious is beyond me.They could have sold at a loss like Sony or Microsoft and released a superior console which would have a longer life and offer a superior gaming experience. Say you keep the graphics the same. If Wii had more RAM, you could have had the worlds be seemless, you could have had a lot more shit going on in the sky, you could have improved the experience massively by not being limited by how much memory the system has available.
This isn't "lol graphics whore lol" shit. It's just common sense. A more powerful system offers more potential. It's fact. You don't get to say otherwise.
