In Mario Golf, when Luigi sinks a birdie, he poses and does this:

Which is ASL for the word "lesbian".

Or, you know, L for Luigi.

I just stumbled across the movie August Rush in which Robin Williams plays a character resembling Ganondorf...

maybe I'm reaching but still. He even wears earrings :p

I think the most mindblowing thing about the whole Mariners/Zelda thing is finding out that Nintendo owns the Mariners, which I never knew. I'm not a baseball guy at all, by the way.

Or both. I didn't say that's why they had Luigi pose that way. It's just a silly coincidence, same way certain characters give the middle finger in the Japanese version of Mario RPG but there it's not considered a rude gesture.

The "hand over your bicep with your forearm up" isn't considered as a rude gesture / the equivalent of a middle finger in all cultures...

And yet Cleveland and some other team use the Mario coin-get sound when runners cross home plate. It's not fair! It should be ours alone!

This is what you're thinking of, which isn't what they're doing

Oh, I've wanted to post this one for a long time.

In GT5, there is a used car dealership list.

Most people assume that the dealership is a random drawing of vehicles which is in fact, incorrect.

It is a set pre-programmed list that the game cycles through. A friend and I had been side by side cooping the game, and somehow we noticed that all of the cars in his dealership where ones we had seen before. I had him stoke his list some by quickly entering and exiting races and he ended up at the same list location as me. We could use this to easily exploit the game to figure out when good rare cars were coming up.

That might have been the designer's intention (to make it resemble the Zelda logo), but there are some differences between the Zelda and the Mariner's font. For one, Zelda's is noticeable thicker, though. I never would have noticed how similar they are, though. Good eye!
It's most likely the same font. The Zelda one is thicker because it's stylized. It has a bunch of things going for it, not uncommon to touch it up for a logo

What? No it isn't. There's both the middle finger and two fingers and they both have different meanings.

Middle finger is up yours and two fingers is f-off.

The "V sign" is supposed to be a middle finger gesture in England, but only if you face your palm towards the interlocutor, isn't it ?

Isn't that what Crono does in Chrono Trigger when winning a battle??

Can we have a moratorium of music comparisons? Even if it is exactly the same song but in a lower key or backwards or something it still isn't mind blowing. Perhaps the best ever comparison is between robos theme and Rick astley, but even that is more of a happy coincedence than anything mindblowing.

Come on, the Ballad of the Goddess/Zelda's Lullaby thing was amazing. :p

Lode Runner Championship Edition shares sound effects, music, and character animations/mechanics (ladders and horizontal ropes) with Donkey Kong Jr.

Monster Rancher had a hidden music track.

The Super Mario World theme song sounds very similar to Green, Green by the New Christy Minstrels.

Probably not important to anyone else ...but the sudden realisation that Warcraft 3, Killer Instinct Gold, Tony Hawk 3 and Wind Waker were released in the same year (all 10 years ago) made my mind explode.

Specialy because Wind Waker looks 1 year old, Warcraft 3 looks 5 years old, TOny Hawk looks 10 years old and Killer Instinct Gold looks 15 years old =P

All games that I love, I must add

More mindblowing than that is that they stopped doing Ken Griffey baseball games and never made one Ichiro game.

...this is blowing my mind right now. Why didn't they do this?! Maybe they're waiting for him to retire or something...

edit - or something to do with the MLB license. Then just do an NPB game!
