Theatrhythm is an essential part of any 3DS collection, but then so is Kid Icarus and you don't even list that.

I don't really like the Kid Icarus games. I haven't played this new one yet, but it doesn't really do something for me when I look at videos of people playing it. Doesn't really feel like a must have to me, but maybe I'll pick it up sooner or later . I think it's going to be Theatrhythm. I haven't played a lot of Final Fantasy games since I suck at JRPG's, but I do love music games and the Final Fantasy soundtracks.

Why not just buy an XL, do the transfer, and then sell your 3DS? Would save you a lot of time and hassle.

Keep in mind you can only do 1 system transfer every 7 days. And only 5 total lifetime per account.

There really isn't any reason. The idea randomly popped up into my head so I was wondering if it could potentially work.

As my 3ds is broken, i really hesitate to take this one to replace it. It's expensive (i cannot sell my 3ds...) and the ppi is just horrible.

you're right.
but putting aside your aesthetics needs, you're an artist after all, you should consider how the size expanse makes the 3DS XL a more confortable gaming experience.

The console size vs screen size increase is phenomenally well done.

Just out of curiosity, those who have received theirs are you in the UK? If yes, where did you order from?

Not Mario Tennis Open. If you really like Final Fantasy and music games, go with Theatrhythm -- it's fantastic. But if you're a fan of Kingdom Hearts and its continuing story, go with KH 3D -- what I've played of it so far is great.

If you like both, then just purchase what you like more first and get the other one later. You can't go wrong with either choice, honestly -- they're both great games for different reasons.

Also, as others have noted, you really should give Kid Icarus: Uprising a try. I was never the biggest fan of the original Kid Icarus either, but you don't need to be to appreciate Uprising -- it's truly one of the best games of the year, one of the freshest games I've played in several years, and just a love letter from Sakurai to video games overall. It's just oozing with a genuine charm and playability that you don't often see in video games anymore. Even if you're unsure about buying it, find some way to try it out -- it's so, so good.

You have to bring back the Original 3DS within a week to get your money (100 euros). You have to bring the 3DS with you for them to check wether it's eligible for trade in first so you won't get any nasty surprises.

Sadly, no. I went by some stores yesterday, and while most of 'em got the demo model on display, they don't have the actual devices yet. The guy from GameMania told me I could pick up my 3DS XL this saturday, while earlier this week he told me I could come pick it up on friday :/... We'll see.

I have heard that Colours is good if you already know what you are doing, Art Academy is better for the lessons

No, I did the same for my Pokemon Black DSi. But it's worse for me. I bought it 3 days before buying a 3DS (the DSi came out days before the 3DS). I bought the 3DS on impulse because I had spare money on me at the time.
