Yoink! Thanks!

I'll be really disappointed if Amy doesn't die. They can't hype up the death of a character in promos and then not kill them two seasons in a row.

Her dying is the only way I'll be ok with her sticking around for this long.

I've said it a bunch of times. I expect either the Doctor or companion to change around ever 1.5 seasons. 1 season is preferable. By the time Amy is gone she'll have overstayed her welcome by an entire season as far as I'm concerned. Her death would sort of make up for that in the sense that it "takes away" more. Otherwise she just never moved on like every other companion.

Companions and Doctor's can stay as long as the story works with them. Amy has run her course, long live Rory and Craig!

The only way Rory survives and Amy dies is if Rory just rampages across the universe kicking ass to avenge Amy's death. At least that is how I want it.

I will never understand this.

Maybe because Doctor Who is essentially the only UK show I watch on a regular basis, but I'm used to characters sticking around for multiple 20 plus episode seasons before they leave a show.

I cannot wrap my mind around the idea that people 20 episodes is too long for a character to stay on a show. I don't get it.

in this modern Doctor Who no companion has been outright killed, if Amy is killed that would be kind of huge.

They wouldn't advertise her death a whole series in advance.

I truly hope you and Moff are of one mind here. Ragemode Rory is something this universe needs. I think he'd made for an awesome fall-from-grace villain.

I prefer Smith to Tennant. He's more Doctor.

Tennant plays it like a sexy human. Smith plays it like an out-of-place alien. Interestingly, since the Doctor's human alter-ego is named Smith, this means that Tennant is more Smith than Smith.

Astrid?

I suspect if they were to kill off a major companion, they'd look to Earthshock as a model. As I understand it, the death in that wasn't known of in advance - indeed, the death doesn't even conclude the series! Indeed, that's the approximate model they used in modern Who for
Rory's
unexpected death in the
Silurian two-parter
.

He would, but I don't wanna see him go bad. If the Daleks are the ones that kill Amy, just have Rory marauding across space exterminating all Daleks. Make them afraid of The Centurion. The way to make him a fall from grace villain is just to have him go too far and essentially commit genocide in the name of vengeance, and The Doctor has to stop him.

Don't you really have to have been in the TARDIS once to be considered a companion?

Oh, come on, "The Centurion" is the perfect name for a recurring Who villain! :D

Some people use the opening credits as the guide. If you do that, Astrid counts.

Also, I think he at some point offered to take her with him. Obviously she didn't get a chance, but that's another plausible justification.

Not that I think it's a good thing if she is, or even a bad thing. I think all of the 80s companions were roundly terrible (yes, even Ace, though to a lesser degree than the others) but I wouldn't say they aren't just because of that.

I dunno, that promo image really screams "The Parting of the Ways" to me. If you just photoshopped Eccleston and Piper's faces on the bodies I'd swear to you they were on Satellite Five and the phrase "Bad Wolf" was scrawled on the wall behind them.

Seeing as how that was one of the most perfect send offs in the new series, I would be fine with that. It was fantastic.

Everything looks awesome, and Karen looks more gorgeous than ever.

BUT FALL!? WHY MUST WE WAIT UNTIL FALL!? Does late August count as fall? I need it now!

Also, baby Weeping Angels. CREEPY!

God that trailer looks so good, I can't wait to see this kick off again. I loved that scene with all of the daleks around the doctor... amazing.

Should add some scratches on his face, and a few tears on the jacket for season 7. :D

Funds are a LOT tighter now at the BBC than they were in 2005.

But what does that mean? Why? Simply because of bad financial times? Isn't the show bringing in more revenue worldwide? I think I remember Moffet grumbling about that in the past-that the show always got the same slice of the pie, even when the merchandising and licensing money it was generating was increasing year after the year.

The fact that the budget is lower during the Moffatt era than during the RTD one shows that Moffatt and his team are better at using the money. And Moffatt might be one of those people that works much better under restrictions. I am a firm believer that restrictions (budget or staff, technology) actually enhance the final product. It forces you to be more creative. Sometimes a blank check and all the freedom in the world does not help. Just look at the Star Wars prequels.
