Persona 4: Arena |OT| Midnight's Just Around The Corner

Got my copy today.

Too bad I won't be playing it for a while. I'm waiting for Persona 2: Eternal Punishment PSP to get announced (hopefully), then I'm gonna do a Persona series play through.

yeah, you're really not gonna be playing this for a while then...

I've tried everyone else and honestly, I like the way Akihiko plays but I have absolutely nothing against netcode input lag. Just shows why online achievements in fighting games are fucking stupid as you should be going to locals (which I don't because they're SRK kids). :/
But who will body me if not a fellow partner in crime once I get a PS3? (I'm trying real hard not to spend the money I have saved up for the PS3 by getting the 360 version of the game)

Just keep it at it, dude.

How is people getting all these IKs off on people?

Are you guys playing against complete scrubs or something?

I get IK's all day. I honestly can't count the number of IK's I've gotten, it's that high. probably something in the 30+ range. It's all about baiting your opponent. That and Mitsu's IK is pretty good.

Seks, my brother stole all my bandwith downloading so I lagged out. He's being a punk right now so my connection wont be good enough to play online for a little bit.

From our matches though, you're still far too passive in avoiding projectiles. With yukiko I was able to just stand there and fan spam you all day and literally not do anything else. Aki is a slow as fuck character so airdashing is extremely important, and I've yet to see you use one airdash in any of our games. You can't just stand there and eat them. On use that roll option when you'll be safe from me throwing another projectile at you, usually when you'll be in poke range. Other than that you should be airdashing and using his weave move to avoid them. Elizabeth is a trickier character to get through her beams. You just have to anticipate the block and play it real safe by air dashing as soon as the beam is done and once you airdash immediately block then rinse and repeat.

For Naoto the same applies as Yukiko, but you have to be weary of her traps. As soon as you see me lay one down don't just dash straight into it. Air dash over it, or make it so that I come to you.

Canada. Having a tough time finding it where I'm from.

I don't have a PS2 anymore but I still do have my PS2 Persona 4 copy. I'm WTS if you'd like since I'll be buying the PSVita version when it's coming out. I'm near Montreal so it shouldn't cost too much shipping I'd assume. Just send me a PM with your offer (It's in mint condition).

I hope to make it out to A&C. I'm pretty sure I'll be bodied. What system do they play on there? I assume it's 360?

You're from Toronto? Any other gaffers going to A&C? And wouldn't it be the PS3 as that's the more popular version?

I've never been to A&C before as I'm from the GTA so there are far closer local places for me. Do they do their events on Thursdays only?

I'm not sure if you noticed but half the time the game would input my dash and then stop short. Why, I dunno but that pissed me off. And that's why I kept "Running into" Naoto's "traps." I'd see one laid down as I started to dash, stop and still run into it. Kinda annoying. Also annoying to have combos/throws drop when I got you hit stunned. And not able to pull off that air 214A/B(? Or is it C/D?) air/dive-kick thing.

You really need to not give up so easily. You keep losing because you've resigned yourself even before the match has begun. It's like when I fought you yesterday. You sat there and let me attack you.

Stop convincing yourself you're going to lose and play to win. It makes all the difference.

I'm not convinced. I know I'm going to lose because I'm terrible at fighters above "beginner" level. :/

Can any other Akihiko players out there tell me how to defend myself from Yosuke?

Good games! I'm going to have to add people I didn't get the chance to. The Teddie player was amazing!

Torontonians, add me too! Well, I'm in Brampton, but it'd be nice to make some friends with fellow GTA GAFfers.

I defeated Chris G's Naoto, then got CRUSHED by his Elizabeth.

Any pointers to deal with Liz's corner pressure? He chained into grab and just wiped me out. I tried chicken blocking, jumping over... maybe I should have super jumped? There were so many things and Personas flying around that I just lost track. My reversal was out of range too! >:

wanna make a room?(once my connection gets back to normal) I've been training with Seks for the exact same problem haha.

I'm pretty sure that was just you. You're giving up as soon as the match begins, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's nerves that's fucking up your dashes. are you inputting the dash more than once? Half of fighting games is the mental game and because you keep telling yourself you'll fail you never do things that will help you succeed. Stop doing that to yourself. I may suck at SF4(Hell, I suck at this game too) but I never tell myself that I'm destined to lose once a match gets underway. Even if someones 2000pp higher than me I may joke about them probably kicking my ass before the matchs tarts, but once its underway I play to win no matter what. What you're doing is pretty much creating the outcome(a negative one) before its even happened. Stop it.

i really suck with elizabeth

Good games. You were starting to get some wins after a while though. I think I need to work on not getting grabbed so much. You caught me a lot with the normal one as well as that "status effect card" grab (seemed like that one was invincible). I can't react to any of that consistently.

Just warning you, my corner pressure is terrible. When a good Narukami player gets his 5D working in the corner, it's crazy.

Tell me about it. It's difficult to play Aigis on the default pad because of her Persona. ><;

I need to get better at Aigis's counter abilities too. I really suck with the defense.

Oh reeeeally? I hope to play you one day then :D

>_> Haven't I played you before?

chicken blocking isn't nearly as good in this game. Not only do you have startup frames for jumping you also have like 5 frames where you cant block when you leave the ground.

Yeah I'll start one. I need human comp bad.

Akihiko jank movement is killing me. I'm having issues getting used to his tempo. I'll start a lobby after my next match.

Marrshu, what's up with the room?
Neither the winner or loser stays?

If you win three times in a row, you automatically pass on to the next player. This is to prevent people from playing the same people over and over. Case in point....

Don't think so. We've been in the same lobby, but we didn't get to fight.

... yeah. =P

Gonna go into training mode and practice Aigis's D abilities. Then I'll try em out on a real player.

I'm having a hard time with some challenges, but that is very likely due to my inexperience with fighting games.

Still stuck on challenge 17 of Aigis D:
Also checked every electronics and game story in my city, not a single Fight Stick to be found for PS3 ><

I'm stuck on 28. Can't get the radical cannon to hit after the mode change. My hands hurt.

Played my first ranked matched and won. I suck at this game though.
Anybody playing on 360 right now? send an invite my way: UMAD LARFL33ZE

Is Marrshu's lobby still going on? Someone shoot me an invite, I need to flex my day one Labrys.

I invited you, but it appears to have kicked you out as soon as you joined....

FOUND OUT WHY I KEPT GETTING SKIPPED.

Thanks Marrshu

:p bento in there would have faced me forever if not for that rule, which would have sucked for both of us.

People are winning only once and getting skipped so the same people keep playing each other, it's weird. It's not doing it every 3 times.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with that. I'll leave it off next time.

Anyone want to be my partner for some combo practice? Preferably mid/west US for better latency.

PSN is makinamimari

My lobby is in the midwest, should be good connection for you.
