The grid layout makes it seem that there are only 20 characters and 14 stages.

Remember how Brawl's character select screen would rearrange its layout and grid as you unlocked more characters? Yeah. When you first booted up Brawl, the character select screen already looked like there wasn't room for any more characters. Same with the stage select screen. Not saying that PSASBR is or needs to be like Brawl in that regard, but I don't think the current grid layout has anything to do with the final number of characters. That can easily be changed in future builds.

So incredibly stoked. The cross buy announcement just resonated really well in me. I really want the other 2 games that will support cross buy too

I was gong to wait for a price drop for those but crossbuy really makes me want to get them earlier, great incentive.

There's a patch for the beta guys

No new characters

-Spear of destiny is in now

Seems like there is a small delay when you activate specials now so you can react more now

Also Sly has been rebalanced all of his supers

His level 1 doesn't travel as far and is slower also for each person it hits there is a hit sound effect now
His level 2 you cant spam the rockets
and his level 3 you can't spam the camera snaps

Just downloaded the patch. Got 3 kills with Sweet Tooth's Lvl 1 on my first game. Lol.

The screen is wider and the game seems less glitchy. The win result screen has been fixed too. Couldn't tell any other differences besides that.

Sly's only has a limitied amount of camera snaps for his level 3 now it shows in top left corner

His special still glitches though at least it just happened to me.

Colors look more vibrant to me too, but I'd have to see video of the two versions together to really know. But I'm impressed with the framerate so far.

There is a delay when you use your level 2 everything stops when someone activates it kinda like if you were to use an ultra in ssf4 it gives you time to react as the defending player

I just finished a match and i'm not sure if this is old but Sly isn't completely invisible now. He's faded whenever he uses his invisibility, but you can still see him. So no more running away and hiding.

There are new dizzy animations. Characters make a new pose and stars go around their head. The game also goes to the win screen faster.
 
i really wanted the wedding song from LBP2 for the LBP level. :(

I'm assuming the licensing for that would be pretty rough, even though it was in LBP, you'd be surprised how hard it is to get it on a new version or w/e if it wasn't done in house or by Sony themselves. Case in point - JP PSN vs. the world. That was one of my favorite themes/levels/worlds from the original LBP, and the song was just so damn catchy.

As others have said though, I agree that the main theme song from each respecting character/world should be used primarily - or at least something that's more striking.

A lot of the videos are from show floors so it's really hard to hear the music but some of the older gameplay is direct feed and you can hear the music - but it's still barely there. I agree the most recognizable themes were the Patapon theme and the Hot Shots Golf theme, all the rest are kind of dull and boring, most especially the Hades theme, I was really disappointed with that.

Why couldn't they use the theme you hear when you first enter Tartarus in GoW III, and have it build into one of the epic themes? This is the one I meant:

That could be the intro, have it slowly build into epicness. I just feel like what we've heard of the "remixed" or "arranged" Hades battle theme, it just sounds lame in comparison to the original:

I dunno, maybe we haven't been able to properly hear it, or maybe it's not a final version we're hearing, but it definitely doesn't compare. In SSBB, basically all of the arranged and remixed themes were amazing, as a Nintendo fan they floored me ... the redone versions in this have so far been pretty underwhelming.

One thing I worry about is how the levels are mash ups, cramming two themes together can easily make one or the other, or even both lose their impact.

One final thought - I always found the Hades fight/theme to be boring in GoWIII (in comparison to others), they should have done a mash up of the Poseidon theme/level, which is arguably the best set piece in the entire game (IMO):

I mean, come on. That's just epic, classic GoW right there. The Hades theme is too brooding and not as impactful. I know, this would pose a problem for the Hydra mash up in the Metropolis stage (because both monsters are similar) but they could've easily put something else in there.

Imagine this - the stage takes place on Gaia while she's fighting the giant Poseidon monster thing, while ... I dunno, plasmid mutants (from Bioshock) fight the armies of Zeus all alongside Mt. Olympus. This could also have the fight move towards the lighthouse from the original Bioshock as they crash into it and fight around it. I think that would've been WAY MORE AWESOME than the Hades stage.

I could see him before the beta he wasn't ever totally invincible but it was really hard to see at a distance when it zoomed in you could still see him

Parappa has a more reliable hitbox for his level 1

They added some stuff to Ratchets level that I remember seeing in the more recent gameplay video one of them being a jumpad.

Well it seems like you can react to it now more if it was there before.

Anyways I just jumped over radecs level 2 successfully which is something I could never do before
