I'm assuming the licensing for that would be pretty rough, even though it was in LBP, you'd be surprised how hard it is to get it on a new version or w/e if it wasn't done in house or by Sony themselves. Case in point - JP PSN vs. the world. That was one of my favorite themes/levels/worlds from the original LBP, and the song was just so damn catchy.

As others have said though, I agree that the main theme song from each respecting character/world should be used primarily - or at least something that's more striking.

A lot of the videos are from show floors so it's really hard to hear the music but some of the older gameplay is direct feed and you can hear the music - but it's still barely there. I agree the most recognizable themes were the Patapon theme and the Hot Shots Golf theme, all the rest are kind of dull and boring, most especially the Hades theme, I was really disappointed with that.

Why couldn't they use the theme you hear when you first enter Tartarus in GoW III, and have it build into one of the epic themes? This is the one I meant:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EulHBvcbJnE

That could be the intro, have it slowly build into epicness. I just feel like what we've heard of the "remixed" or "arranged" Hades battle theme, it just sounds lame in comparison to the original:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_JtztEl4LE

I dunno, maybe we haven't been able to properly hear it, or maybe it's not a final version we're hearing, but it definitely doesn't compare. In SSBB, basically all of the arranged and remixed themes were amazing, as a Nintendo fan they floored me ... the redone versions in this have so far been pretty underwhelming.

One thing I worry about is how the levels are mash ups, cramming two themes together can easily make one or the other, or even both lose their impact.

One final thought - I always found the Hades fight/theme to be boring in GoWIII (in comparison to others), they should have done a mash up of the Poseidon theme/level, which is arguably the best set piece in the entire game (IMO):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY0QmzP2VZA

I mean, come on. That's just epic, classic GoW right there. The Hades theme is too brooding and not as impactful. I know, this would pose a problem for the Hydra mash up in the Metropolis stage (because both monsters are similar) but they could've easily put something else in there.

Imagine this - the stage takes place on Gaia while she's fighting the giant Poseidon monster thing, while ... I dunno, plasmid mutants (from Bioshock) fight the armies of Zeus all alongside Mt. Olympus. This could also have the fight move towards the lighthouse from the original Bioshock as they crash into it and fight around it. I think that would've been WAY MORE AWESOME than the Hades stage.

I agree the music in this game is a bit disappointing. I really wish that they used Poseidon instead of the hydra in R&C level.....

Games like dissidia and SSB had very impactful music, they also don't have to limit themselves to the characters feature in the game...playstation does have a lot of franchises you know.

If you stay in the water to long in jak and daxter stage you get teleported back to the top with a stun. Kinda like when you fall into a pit in the new stages.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I also agree with the music so far being rather disappointing. So far the only real stage that I think has the music has been great is Sandover village because it had music from both series in the mash-up that were recongizable(Plus I really dig the main Jak and Daxter theme)

I guess Metropolis would be another one But for that I really can't think of a "definable" theme or music for Ratchet and Clank, but the music used for the stage was defintely R&C like. The God of War portion actually uses music I was hoping would be part of the Hades stage.

Ah that's nice. No more hiding away from the fight/Supers.

Yeah, that's nice. Kinda confusing when it happens at first though.

They should put a timer on it so you know how long you can be in the water and so the teleport isn't as random

Edit: Actually scratch that because then people will take advantage of it. I just seen someone jump in the water to try to avoid Kratos's level 3. It teleported him back in a stun state and he got killed glad to see the system works!

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Today I realized I would've loved to see Toan/Maximilian from the Dark Cloud Series in this.

Both of them could've used Georama to summon giant buildings and such out of nowhere, Toan could've used his swords or summon the other playable characters to help him out for his Supers, and Max could've had his Ridepod and Invention Skills.

I at least always considered the original Dark Cloud one of the defining early games of PS2, because it was my first PS2 game ever.

Hm, I wonder if jumping constantly resets the timer or if it's cumulative.

Oh awesome, is this in the beta now? I'm really happy they're going with this approach, hopefully they reinforce the feeling of being rung out so it's not just a silent teleport followed by a stun and loss of AP. Do you have to get bitten by the fish or is it just sitting in the water too long? It'd be hilariously confusing if they made your characters drown after x amount of time, but having the fish ring you out would make the most sense.

It's good that that happens in the Jak stage because some people use the water as means to escape Lvl 3 attacks. At least now there's a price to pay

That's nice. It was a nice hideout in the beta but I guess it's for the better that it doesn't happen in the final game :p

I don't think Sly's invisibility was really nerfed. Seems about the same. His level 1 is definitely more comparable to FP's though.

Alright, lets get somebody to decrypt the new beta files, surely superbot put a troll file or something inside in case somebody tried to take a peek again :p

The changes sound great, can't wait to try em out.

I am in fear of this game being patched too much. I don't want to fall in love with a character/play style and then have it changed. I'm probably just being crazy, just unsure of how patches are handled in games like this

I missed it but I assume he played poorly. Did he blame the game or his stick this time?

He just had a lot of odd complaints about the game. And a lot of suggestions that I hope would never get approved lol.

He didn't play too well, and he also just contradicted himself. Like comparing the 1v1 in Smash to a 4 person free4all. And saying that 1v1 wouldn't work in this game.

I skipped bits and chunks of it, cause it was hard to watch, but yea...

He also says that none of the colorful characters like Parappa belong there besides Kratos, Radec, and Sweet Tooth. But is fine with Jigglypuff vs Snake? Maybe the art style doesn't appeal to him.

But they basically said in a 1v1 the player with the best lvl 1 will win. Without taking into account the skill of the player, that every lvl is avoidable, you have to fight better than the other person to gain that lvl 1 first.

Okay, think I'll take back what I said about the beta being less glitchy. Just had Sweet Tooth's Lvl 3 glitch on me, preventing me from using any Supers at all. That's never happened before.

Also, I've found just using Lvl 1s to be more effective in short matches like these.

have they said how the supers will work on 1v1 games?

i really hope presence data is in this game

so when i open up psn xmb it will show what i'm playing "Versus - 4v4 on Sandover Village"

something to that effect

such a shame that a lot of online games don't use this.

I would really like that too. Sadly I don't see it happening for this game

I hate games that don't do this I feel it should be standard, a lot of Sony's games don't do it the only one I remember having it was Socom Confrontation

Wow 2 matches and already a hard freeze.

Edit: another nice addition is when it finds your opponents it will move your controller to the spot you will be in game, so 1P, 2P, 3P, 4P

Wow I love Invisible Walls but they really bashed the game. I still kind of expect them to turn around when they get to play it more. The game is no where near perfect or even near SB quality but I think it deserves a fair shot.

IW can be just full of fail most of the time. That's why I stick to Epicbattlecry

And to see what kind of quality the game has we should wait for the final version, not the beta. Personally I'm having more fun on the beta than I had with SB, it's just gonna get better for me

Considering most people don't even know what they are doing the first time they play this game it doesn't surprise me some have bad first impressions. I mean there are people that play and literally don't use a super and complain there is no way to kill. Lol

I just wish we'd see some one on one gameplay from testers, or the pros at SuperBot.

This. So much This. I want to see what Colin from IGN was talking about when he said no one in the beta is playing like how Superbot is playing it. Saying they were playing much more tactically and what not; I'm very interested in that man.

One of the problems I find with this game is that most of the gameplay videos that the public sees is based off of the Journalists playing who don't even know how to play themselves for the most part. They only have ended up showing this game at events (aside from the IGN thing) and I think that is bad idea. They need to put out videos of the testers themselves or even the staff playing. A really good gameplay video that we can refer to try to explain to people how they are supposed to play this game.

I don't mean to start a big commotion but on the pasbr forums someone posted a link to a german hands on preview. The article mentioned cloud and said superbot will be revealing a ff rep at PAX.
The similarity to Super Smash Bros. Brawl may Allstars Playstation: Battle Royale is difficult to hide. Thrown into one of many arenas, it beats you with up to four players to end up going to a win. Here you are, instead of Mario, Link or Kirby but familiar characters from the Playstation universe to choose from. Apart from battle-hardened heroes like Dante, Kratos, or Cloud, less martial natures are like Sackboy to be the party. But what exactly does Allstars Playstation: Battle Royale is now different than the competition *

SE I heard will be there also. You can translate the link.

I seen that people at playstation forums said that he probably thought Spike was Cloud. Either way personally I'm done with rumor and speculation.

Well, now I don't know what to think. I had settled into a fairly comfortable assumption that we were going to get Lightning, but now maybe it's Cloud after all? I hope not... although if push comes to shove, I'll take any FF rep over no FF rep.

Well it's the first impressions that they got. If the game includes some kind of tutorial or video of how it's supposed to play and journalists understand it when they see it, there won't be any problems with the reviews. The combo videos are probably a good example of how the developers are playing the game.

Judging from the Beta files, there will probably be basic and advanced tutorials for each character.

Someone spare me the click given to invisible walls, what was said?

Ps I haven't taken them seriously since they gave UC2 a worse score than the first because it was "more of the same" and yet gave Modern Warfare 2 a higher score than the first and was their goty.
