No. I meant the time I linked too. It's in the background and overshadowed with other stuff but you can hear it. And yeah I agree with your part too. Sounds a lot like Halo imo.

Guess you weren't in before the lock. *ba-dum tssh* I could see S,S,B's theme getting reprised the first time you pilot a War Sphinx or something.

I honestly think Halo 4's music at the end of the E3 showcase (the DA NA NA NA BWEE, DA NA NA NA BWOOO plus the strings + gregorian chorus) is just as recognizable as any other "pumped-up" song that Halo's had like Inbound Imminent (the guitar/siren riffs when Reach's space combat got revealed), etc. as far as I'm concerned.

The first time I saw that one, I had to toss it in MS Paint and erase all the other squares before I'd believe it. It still makes my brain hurt.

Related: I'd love to hear how/if Halo 4 has been tuned for those of us colorblind folks. Every game in the series causes me problems.

Doesn't one of the classic themes appear in one of the B-roll vids from the composer reveal? I seem to clearly remember some nerd chills going on when I heard the new take on a classic melody. (not at liberty to have the volume up at the moment or I would check myself)

The only time we've heard the actual Halo theme, the E Dorian Monk Chant, was at the end of the 2011 E3 Announcement Trailer. That music was by Neil Davidge, but I'm pretty sure that particular cue was just for the trailer.

In the B-roll video you're talking about there's a the brief section in the low strings from one of the Halo 3 pieces. It wasn't the original Halo melody, but it was something from Halo 3.

Also, you can hear the Halo 3 melody played by a trumpet near the end of the piece of music used in the Prelude trailer. That is by far my favorite music from Halo 4 I've heard. It gets me pumped like crazy.

Neil is definitely making an effort to refer to the original Halo scores, but it will always be subtle, because this is a new trilogy with new characters and new adventures, so new flavors of music will dominate the score. I have loved everything of Neil's I've heard thus far, though.

I feel that the E-Dorian motif should really be the only theme to return. That scale incapsulates the universe, Chief, and Cortana. All the other themes served their purpose for the prior games. It is time to create new themes for new characters and new story beats. Unless old issues and characters play a big role in halo 4.

I'm almost 100% sure it will appear, and it will be placed well in a good moment of the game. But there's no way they're gonna reveal that cue to us yet. It'll be glorious when it shows up =)

I heard it was really, really good. It seems super underrated, I'll probably pick it after Christmastime when the Halo 4 train has slowed down. Can't imagine it'd be too expensive by now.

Not underrated at all, the game did very well and Edios got A LOT more employees after Square saw the sales of it.

As of right now, Recruit is my favorite armor. I just hope there's an actual ODST varaint.

Did someone say the original Halo monk chant isn't coming back? It has to be... It's been in some of the recent gameplay....

Agreed, I don't see why it wouldn't make a return at all, even if lightly. It just doesn't seem right if it doesn't.

I do like the the Recruit armor, as other have said, it looks like ODST armor. Also, the skin looks pretty cool. That said, it really shows how a ton of these armor sets look a little cluttered.. I hope there are some detailed, yet simple, clean edged looking sets.
