I'm thinking of organizing a special event after the summer vacations are over.

Either Volvo 240 (tuned), VW Beetle (old one, tuned) or CV2 (tuned). Maybe all of them at similar PPs on Eiger. Could turn into a nice "Folk race".... :)

I would be down for this. Do you want to do Eiger street or dirt? Dirt would be crazy... fun. Although I would need a car as well. Probably the Volvo, just because my family used to own one.

Didn't even think about the dirt version... We have never done a dirt race, so dirt it is! It will be a bit crazy for sure, but fun as you say.

Ok, I'm calling it (more details to follow).

Preliminary details:

August 19, 19.00 UCT

t1345402800z0.png

Eiger Nordwand, dirt course (I'll get back to which of the variants)
Volvo 240 Estate
VW Beetle (souped up a bit to be competitive)

Damage: Off
Contact allowed: Full

Rules: Drive in the correct direction, no dive bombs (don't drive at full speed into corners and use the other cars as bumpers). Beyond that, everything is allowed :p

Tuning settings and proper OP will follow later.

As it's quite some time left I should be able to gift the 240 to everyone that needs it.

As the date draws closer I will PM the usual suspects as I understand that not everybody is checking this thread very frequently.

Both cars stock are acceptable at Toscana. You may want to allow some tuning becaust ATM they have very little power.

I'll definitely allow some tuning. My 240 is currently at ~395 PP which makes it pretty nice. I think I'm sticking with Eiger Nordwand - K Trail though. I know the cars struggle in the uphill section, but it's a lot of fun going downhill.

I will not be able to make it because my Fanatec CSW is starting to make strange noises and FFB sensations (IE early symptoms of "MyWheelIsAboutToBreakEritis".). That leaves me with only a DS3 and well, I do not want to cause "the big one".

If it is not Spa and Renault Clio I am not compatible.

Fixed :p

Well, I can see if I can get my G25 back from my brother since I lent it to him after I got my CSW. Honestly though, I have almost no experience using a controller in GT5. Since day 1 I have been using a wheel. It is more for your safety than my pride. :p

Did a few laps just now, a 2:29:6 as my best, but I never got a clean lap together. Might be another second or two out there for me.

Maybe some practice session tomorrow or thursday at 8pm GMT ?

Thursday 8pm GMT, I will see if anyone is in our lounge.

I have been trying offline in the single car practice. Since this car is stock and the AI uses stock settings,it is a good opportunity to practice with.

I usually turnoff TCS against the AI to make it harder against them for myself then put in on 1 for online practice & racing to compensate for less grip in the online physics engine. The AI often beat me on tyres in longer races and they sometimes ram you.

Since this is a relatively easy car to control and a same car race, is this not a good opportunity for heavy damage setting?

I decided to pack my PS3 away so it wouldn't be a distraction, so I probably won't partake in any races until Fall/Winter.

Shame :(

A distraction from xxxx?

a) A partner or friends with benefits.
b) My master plan to rule the world.
c) Picking my nose and scratching my arse while jerking off.
d) My real life involving sea mammals particularly Saharan desert locusts.
e) None of the above.

I'm fine with heavy damages but what about the others ? I don't know
I think it's safe to stick with light damages so far

It took an entire season of Super GT for people to stop taking each other out on the first lap. I say light damage. The GTR is way more sturdy than the Super GT cars but I figure might as well go for fun over punishment with a smaller group like this.
