If Danerys is on screen, hopefully that's a game you can play with one hand.

Man, Nintendo will enhance our multi-tasking capability with this dual screen setup. By accustoming us to handle two different content at the same time, play on the gamepad and understand/hear/see a movie on the TV through glimpses (and the images we don't watch will be "filled" by our mind through retina persistence, the sounds, and imagination), it will improve our mind !

Wii would like U to have a better brain !

Or further contribute to this generations inability to concentrate on anything for longer than a couple of minutes.

The only caveat with the "keep playing while other people watch TV" is - isn't the U rumoured to run kind of hot, with a lot of ventilation? I can still see people not being cool with you continue to play if the thing sounds like an aircraft hangar like the early 360s did.

It's not "rumored" to run kind of hit really. At one of the demo events (or was it gamescom?) a few systems crashed and had to be rebooted, one of the demo dudes then said something along the lines of "they're running hot" ... they're not final demo units at a trade show running for 10+ hours on end.

I don't think this is worth worrying about at this point.

Well, all i can say is explained in my posts: some already announced and presented games on Wii U, saw their framerate greatly improved during their development, since my Spring posts. It shows that developers got a better grasp on the system, on the tools to make their titles on it, etc. And yep, this cool news comes with improvement in the visual department also (more effects, and implementation of anti-aliasing, etc.).
Wii U specs have been enhanced after E3. I don't expect the final hardware to be significantly better than a x360 though.

And wasn't those unit sitting inside a closed "box" so people couldn't see the units designs or something, putting a console inside a closed/sealed space isn't good without good ventilation.

I think Miyamoto or somebody explained in some interview around E3 why the Wii U was horizontal. You can't use it vertically because the sides are rounded intentionally.

oh there it is:
http://kotaku.com/5916218/why-the-wii-u-literally-cant-stand-up
(say what you will about Kotaku but their links are always the first to come up when I'm googling for interview quotes)

Miyamoto said:
"I think maybe it was because we didn't want people to think it was a Wii."

Then you might want to change the ENTIRE case.

Well, considering Wii got 5 out of 7 Need for Speed games this gen (except Shift and Unleashed)
I think Most Wanted is a safe bet.
I kinda hope it comes out on WiiU. I haven't played a good racing game lately... The last two I bought were ridge racer for 3DS
I know...
and Gran Tourismo...
very boring game
I know that if it doesn't come out for wiiu I can still get it for PS3... but I'd rather get it for my new shiny...

I want a fun racer...and no... I'm not a big Mario Kart fan, the items remove all sense of skill as far as I'm concerned.

Screw black Friday and November 18th. I still say Nintendo will Release the Wii U in NA on October 28th, 2012 with ACIII as a 2 day exclusive. Bank on it. Save this post. So you can prove me being right 2 months from now
I'm so wrong, I'm going to be embarrassed on September 13th aren't I?

Fixed. Familiarity, optimizations, and the like occurred after E3. It also helps when as wsippel pointed out a month or two ago that proper usage of the DSP was finally enabled.

So it's definitely 32MB then? Or was this already confirmed?

Yes. Confirmed a long time ago (last year).

We have plenty of technology and tech toys here, and we only have one primary HDTV. Having multiples of those seems a bit excessive / a true luxury item.

Having more than 1 HDTV is excessive? Really? I know plenty of people that have multiple HDTVs in their home. Everybody has one primary HDTV but then there is the bedroom, the computer room, the bonus room, etc.

I have multiple HDTVs but I do not always want to hook up an entire system to them.

Also, they are often all being used if I am in a situation where I have to move from my usual one, anyway.

Woop? Google Translator says

"Seems to come not a little better, which is expected to "There is a conference of Nintendo in September" [Iwata]. Announcement of the Wii U in Japan, will be announced in advance, that it will be done in a way other than the conference"

Bad machine translation or does ti really say date will be announced BEFORE the 9/13 press thing?

Original:

Is he saying there will be a conference or there won't be.

I can see a Nintendo Direct or something like that in Japan while in NA it will be a press conference. It will be a surprise to see the reveal of the Japanese line-up at the TGS since Nintendo doesn't go there.

Seems like Cheesemeister has a more thorough translation now:

"There are more than a few people who are thinking, 'There'll be a Nintendo Conference in September.' I want to tell you in advance that the announcement of the Wii U in Japan is planned in a way not involving the Conference.

So it sounds like the Japanese Wii U details won't be announced at like the Sept 13th event, but if it's before or after he doesn't say.

I really cannot wait to see what Japanese devs are doing for WiiU

I just cannot think of anyone though. I'm guessing Mahjong U for launch

maybe P-100 will finally get a name

I guess being 30 years old, having a good job and owning a decent sized house makes me rich, nice. lol. Seriously, there are lots of people that own multiple HDTVs these days. They've been on the market for over 10 years now.

I know I'm just messing with you. I know HDTVs are the norm now. Personally I have a 30" SD dinosaur in the living room and a 19" 720p that I use as my computer monitor, but I know my situation isn't the norm. Still in college=broke.

So... they're still having a conference, but Wii U launch details aren't part of it?

Man, imagine GAF's palpitations if they devote their September conference to 3DS again.
