Killzone Trilogy announced for PS3, trailer, October release

Man I wish they could of kept the multiplayer in Killzone.

It was really, really bad. The netcode was absolutely terrible. It honestly made SOCOM2's netcode look like Quake 3's.

I mean SOCOM had horrible hit detection issues, everyone knew that. But at least people didn't rubberband around in Socom for no reason (only if they had a bad connection) Killzone was very close to unplayable online. Very, very close.

So fucking close.

You do know they would have fixed that right?

Killzone HD FUCK YES.
I'll grab this from the PSN (Or retail if it falls in price quick enough)
Killzone 1 is still my favorite in the series.

I was wondering what they would do with the rumored Killzone 1 HD. Great game marred with technical problems, so I'll definitely be picking this up and play it in remixed beauty. It's been years since I last played it, so that'll be nice.

Getting rid of my Killzone 2 copy and I'm jumping on that trilogy. :) Never played the first one and was hoping for an HD remaster since I knew about the various technical problems of the PS2 version. I was also tempted to buy Killzone 3 for cheap a couple of week ago, but glad I waited it out. :p

Scatter, grenade.

I really enjoyed KZ1 on the PS2 with the major problem being the framerate. With that fixed I look forward to playing it. Great news.

Why are you so damn short in Killzone?

I tried playing Killzone 2 a while back and really couldn't get into it for some reason.

Maybe I'll pick this up on the cheap and try again, since the first one will be included as well.

Great news! Glad kz1 is on disc and not dlc. Will buy, even if i already have all 3 games. I still play kz3 online with no dlc maps so this'll serve me well.

KZ1 HD:
-Can be bought from PS Store separately
- 720p @ 30fps no Famerate drops
- Updated controls
- Updated audio
- Trophies

Absolutely perfect!

Loved Killzone 2. Tried starting K3 and just couldn't get into it. Though I definitely plan on going back to play it.

If anyone is curious about how the PS2 original looked, I went digging through my screenshot folder and would like to share these:

And with that gleeful nostalgia burst done, all I hope is that they've kept the 3-weapon limit in KZ1 and not switched to the (effectively) 1-weapon-limit of 2 and 3.

Killzone 1 is proof that Killzone was the originator of the colorless shooter fad and not Gears of War.

It wasn't just Gears of War it was Unreal Engine and its popularity.
Killzone HD looks very good on the screenshots hope they're not too filtered. I liked the idea of playing different characters wish the sequels had that kind of variety (even if they were so similar).

Never played the first one so I will probably get KZ HD from the store. With so many posters in this thread saying it has the best KZ campaign i'm obliged I guess.

if kz 2 keep the 4 playable character system, then each kz2 character will have it's own unique weapon/ability. Garza as the engineer, Rico as heavy gunner etc so they would have played differently

Such arguments are not worth making. You will pretty much always find pre-existing material of whatever. Quake for example:

There's probably some obscure 3D shooter from back in the 80's as well with that type of muted look.

I see.

KZ1 was really ass when I played it on PS2. It ran bad, had weird technical problems, and was overall an awkward experience. I sure hope these things are fixed here. I assume so.

Unreal was not exactly vibrant. Neither was Quake.

Quake was colorless and brown for a technical reason (saving space by muting color range and did not have colored lighting in its first releases). From what I can see KZ is that color because it wants to be

I wonder if they are going to integrate that huge ass 2.0 patch that Killzone originally got on the PS2. It made the game so much better.

Eh I disagree. The KZ1 campaign was actually pretty darn varied as far as environments go, and it had a pretty diverse color palette considering the art style.

At $40 with Killzone 2 and 3 complete it's pretty much of a steal. I'm glad I waited on getting the Killzone games.

How did you even get it?

You log into the multiplayer and it downloads the patch to your memory card. 3MB.

The SOCOM games and a few others had patches as well. Timesplitters allowed you to share maps online between memory cards.

Is this a joke? PS2 had patches?

Yes, they had patches.

SOCOM 3 and Combined Assault also had paid map packs that you downloaded onto a USB stick or internet hard drive.

So how bad is Killzone 3? I actually enjoyed Killzone 2's campaign, and Killzone 1 HD looks impressive (and mildly interesting). I'm loving this new 'Collection' thing Sony is doing, I ordered the God of War one off of Amazon today.

It's not that bad at all. It's not like revolutionary or the best FPS on the market, but it's not bad.

Personally, I felt 3 had the stronger campaign of them both. It was much more varied, and had some good levels that allowed you to tackle the shooting arenas different ways. The one annoying thing is that the cutscenes were a little too plentiful and would sometimes disrupt the good flow the game had going. 2s multiplayer is superior, though.
