Summer 2012 Anime |OT3| Where All the Waifus Are Made Up and the Points Don't Matter

Well, wasn't quite as bad watching it as what I expected after reading the spoilers yesterday. There were some pretty pants-on-head level things about this last episode:
"Lets kill ourselves!" Oh hey, let me bite you.

The series was pretty decent overall. Started out really good, but my enjoyment dropped with each episode after the
body swap.
Only having one or two episodes of that would have been plenty. I kinda liked the last scene because it showed that
Shimao wasn't able to pass on, and instead had to spend his time watching Rokka having kids and a family with Hazuki. I hope he cried a lot. Fuck you, Shimao.

TTGL Movie 1

A decent remix of the first half of the TV series, though the difference between the fantastic scenes that were made for the movie such as the intro, and the reused footage could be quite jarring at times. I'd have to recommend the TV series over this for someone who hasn't watched either, but if you're a fan of the series, it's definitely worth checking out.

Are you sure? I read a spoiler for Total Eclipse elsewhere that seemed legit. A big spoiler.

A spoiler for what happens later on? It could be, but I can't think of anything that's happened so far that could have been spoiled. The VNs take place in Japan and there haven't been any shared characters with Total Eclipse. Spoilers would probably have to related to what happens with the war with the beta, but I don't know how involved the anime is going to get into all of that.

It was about one of the characters in Total Eclipse. Pretty great news if the spoiler was BS.

I prepared for the worst judging from the reaction on here for these last 4 episode. And I'm pleasantly surprised that wasn't even that bad for me. I really enjoy it, the directing in this show always sharp n smooth.

I dunno if watching it by weekly basis would be different, but watch several eps together make everything feel smooth and not dragged.. I like in the end everything fall in place, there's some unnecessary jousei moment in last episode, but overall its nice for me.

The storytelling is typical jousei which already rare these day, n the directing is really good for compliment it. I have no regret watching this.

You know it was too good to be true.
His secretary and suppose sister are trying to set him up so he can't be President of his father's company
. Rest of the episode was crap though

Well, the opening scene of this episode was pretty bad. I don't know why we need the idol/otaku scenes because they're just not very good and they have nothing to do with the rest of the show. Fortunately the rest of the episode has nothing to do with it, but that just raises the question of why you would open an episode with an irrelevant scene.

They were just auditioning for work on The Idolm@ster, which they got.

Thanks. Is the original Muv-Luv an eroge?

Balls.
The very first Muv-Luv is structured like normal VN/eroge, but Alternative (Which the fans like me hyping to the death) only have 2 ero moment and one of it isn't even fxx material. Unless you into that kind of thing. But this sound like justifying, in short just like DiGiKerot said.

I hope Joe Molotov avoids Porco Rosso. That's even worse. Miyazaki is such a sly devil.

What?

This was an interesting, but underwhelming episode. Though to its benefit, I don't always get to see an anime episode focused on people creating anime. They even came with their own mini-job descriptions by Maromi. Saruta, the production manager is the lead and he doesn't make for an interesting one.

The most he adds to the table is his unique visual take on mental unrest:
becoming outlined in a sketch style, representing the unfinished work for which he holds blame.

The humorous part is that unlike the citizens in the first episode which spent time apologizing to those they have disappointed, Saruta cleans himself from all blame. He refuses to take responsibility for his actions (or lack of).

The situation is not a bad call (it's like an extension of Tsukiko's story), but the way it plays out is sloppy. The transitions from Saruta's mind and reality are done too often and spell out the personality of a character who the audience is already familiar with in reality. If the mental scenes were more subtle or added dialogue that added weight to the character, perhaps this flaw would've been non-existent. Sadly, it uses up screen time on a subject that I found rather dull in execution.

The message on staff in the animation process and the terrors of disregard for well-being (professionally or otherwise) of fellow member was, again, a neat idea.

Maturity, bitches.
But Porco Rosso didn't featuring any girl-on-giant salamander action, so I don't see how it can be considered worse.

The fact you're ranking the sight of underaged girls starkers in order to say some is excusable proves Miyazaki has twisted your perceptions of reality. Their only one ranking for wrongness.

Fun with names!

Saru is Japanese for "monkey", so that's where Saruta comes from. His boss is also named Oda Nobunaga. For some reason, he isn't a girl. Not very historically accurate.

There might be more name puns and stuff, but I don't know them.

Oh man! I had no idea about the monkey one.
I thought I was seeing things when I saw the boss named "Oda Nobunaga."

Yeah, there's probably some more "naming fun" bundled in there.

Didn't saimoe used to have thousands of votes or am I mixing it up with something else?

Saimoe Japan used to have match vote totals in the thousands in later rounds until they both banned almost all international IPs from voting a few years ago and made it dozens of times harder to get a voting code anyway.

You're probably thinking of ISML.

That's International saimoe. Regular old saimoe is organized on 2ch and they've erected walls, moats, electric fences, tiger traps and viper pits to keep filthy gaijin out of the tournament so their vote counts are smaller.

I guess that it doesn't mean much anyway considering that with some Angel Beats uguuthing sweeping ISML it's confirmed that international moe otaku have just as terrible taste in characters as their nihonjin brethren.

I suppose one could think Angel Beats were good if they were into really cheap melodrama, were partially colorblind, and want their love interest characters to be trophies for the MC to catch at the end and nothing more.

The OST is good though, so there's that.
