Zoramon089 Rumor: WiiU GPU is a modified Radeon E6760 [AMD: We haven't said anything]

Zombie U looks a generation ahead of Condemned. Graphics are not important though.

Graphics are important, but I feel they won't make or break a game.

Some people take it too far though and won't play a game if it's not at they're graphical standard.

Yeah I don't trust Ubisoft. ZombiU looks like Red Steel all over again.

I'll wait for Edge to review it.

Based on what exactly? Because they're both launch games?

Does the fact that one is made by a highly regarded development studio not mean anything?

Yeah man, that's like you saying you don't trust Nintendo because RedSteel was bad... It's fine to wait for a review, but the studio making ZombiU is completely different than the one that made Redsteel, so what your saying doesn't make sense.

You'll have to excuse me because I'm disgruntled Wii owner who witnessed Ubisoft swamp the Wii with shovelware.

Other than Red Steel and Raving Rabbids Ubisoft put out almost next to nothing else on the Wii worth thinking about.

Oh and they cancelled BG&E2.

That has nothing to do with Ubisoft Montpelier.

1 is one of Ubi's top studios, 1 is the Just Dance team.

1 of them has been, for the most part met with overwhelming acclaim ,1 of them was quickly seen as crap after bullshots were shown to be fake.

It isn't anything alike, do you know how big Ubi is? They have good and bad studios. Dismissing something because it is Ubi on a Ninty console is the height of stupidity.

Question: Why do we need both the Wii U spec rumor thread and this thread? A mod should close the other one and make this the spec thread.

One negative thing I will say about Zombi U with my play time, is that the graphics mega glitched a couple times. Enemies started flickering.

I hope these bugs are ironed out at launch as not to mar an otherwise fantastic game.

Because this thread was about the GPU "confirmation" from AMD CS only. The other thread is about all the system specs

Naaa I'm being cautious is all...stupid is putting blind faith in a developer to deliver. If Blizzard who I consider god tier developer can mess up Diablo 3... I'm pretty sure Ubisoft can also mess up software.

If Ubisoft were serious about Wii U we should see Far Cry 3 port.

It isn't about having blind faith, it is about being dismissive due to Red Steel, which makes no sense. General skepticism is good, but Red Steel has nothing to do with ZombiU.

This thread. Wow. So many fanboys flinging shit back and forth at each other lol

Anyway, I don't expect the Wii U to pump out anything impressive at 1080p. I have no doubts that it can do 1080p, but what good is that if what's being displayed at 1080p isn't really that great looking?

For the usual flash of today's AAA games with higher res texture, better shadows and the like, I'm expecting no more than 1600x900 upscaled.

However I'd love to be proven wrong.

I don't really expect there to be much improvement in the resolution department. The system seems to be fill-rate bound, but we'll see.

I see, that is pretty nice. The last link shows that the score varies heavily depending on which resolution the test is run at, so I think it's still hard to compare because we don't know which resolution the E6760 test was running.

The E6760 was running at 1280x1024 (click on the features tab under footnote 1).

Typical 4850 scores are around 7000 for that res & Performance preset. (PXXXX is overall)

If you really were being cautious you would of done your research on the game instead of spewing stupidy like you are.

I don't know about you guys, but Condemned is looking mighty ugly next to ZombiU:

That's interesting, I have the same GPU in my laptop. Rest assured, it can run Skyrim on high settings, yep...don't expect too much from this.

The reply from the AMD customer service rep basically squashes this being a e6760. Since a "custom" anything is essentially it's own GPU in itself. Nintendo started out with the R770 and it has definitely become something different along the way. If the performance is similar to the e6760 that's fine, but it's not "based" on that card.

I'll wait till reviews thank you very much. No need for the fanwankery. If ZombiU is a good game it will prove it by itself when people can play the full game, not by trying to force people to like it.

Wich is exactly what Wii U will get. Years of graphial improvements due to better technology/engines... Wii U is now (at the evolutionary stage) as Xbox 360 was in 2005.

I hope so... it will depend of Wii U being compatible with new middleware and not sticking with old engines.

At this point imo it's seems to be more likely that they actually started with the e6760 and customized it to fit the consoles needs.

Was RV770 actually ever rumored to be the GPU where the started from? Because that wouldn't make any sense. That's a ~250mm² 55nm GPU that's just far, far above the WiiU TDP target.
RV740 is probably still too big, but atleast it's already at 40nm. I see no reason to start with a 55nm GPU, than shrink it to 40nm, when there is a 40nm GPU available.

The reason the comparison Condemned vs ZombiU is valid because they are both games at the very beginning of the evolution of Xbox 360 and Wii U.

Every console goes through alot of optimisation processes especially in the first 2-3 years.

And if someone is trying to play the "Devs had to get used to HD devlopment card"... I played Quake 3 on PC in 99 @ 1280x1024 wich is a higher res than 720p... (Posting this now just in case)

It is valid and it is not valid at the same time, although wii u is a "new" system, the methodologies/tech/skills used now to work with this machines are miles away from 2005. And no, Quake example is not valid sorry

Everyone to his/her opinion.

But in my opinion, it is valid.

There's a lot more to "HD development" than resolution. The WiiU's software evolution will be much less drastic than what we saw on the 360 and PS3 for multiple reasons. The fact that the WiiU is running current top-level 3rd party 360 and PS3 games at launch shows how important matured engines and tools are.

The RV700 series was confirmed, I thought that it was based on the RV770 but I couldn't find exact quotes on that.
