New Little King's Story |OT| My little king can't possibly be this cute

I'll be updating the OT later with all the DLC and some more videos Takao posted as well. Gotta head off to work. Also, I loved the original's art style as well but I definitely am a sucker for animu stuff so.. idk, at least we're getting a sequel, and SOMEHOW it was localized? I'm curious to see the meltdowns when people see some of the costumes you can get
they're pretty crazy

You don't have to use touch controls right? I was looking forward to this but I didn't even think that it could force gimmicks on me.

So I can order the EU version from PA and play it on my NA PSN ID and memory card? I really don't want a digital copy of this one. :\

It's not a forced gimmick if it actually improves the game.

Anything involving motion or touch is a forced gimmick. I don't get the point of making the Vita if half the games are going to force that shit. What was the point of giving us a 2 stick system?

I love this game on the Wii and this version is a must have for me, but have to say I'm a little disappointing with the princesses design. The original designs were fun and creative the new princesses look like quite generic in my opinion.

My little wallet can't possibly be this susceptible to robot girls

I'm gonna guess you're not a LBP fan.

this is the game that may convince me to get vita! underrated wii game. glad its getting a second more refined go at the gaming audience

Don't be a baby, touch is good for certain games like LBP and this one where input is faster.

The price is £34.99/€39.99 on PSN.

EDIT: Someone already mentioned that...

I'm not sure if I'll buy this or not. I still haven't played the Wii version despite owning it since day 1... It might be time to get to it.

How much is improved/changed with this game compared to the original? I know the character has been redesigned, and the removal of pointer controls..

I actually might buy this. I've liked some of Cing's games and while they no longer exist, didn't they have a big role in the original development of the game?

Ugh heard this got delayed by a week in australia for no apparent reason. Just like konami did with the mgs hd collection on vita :l

Hopefully they price the digital version appropriately. Never played the original, so I'd love to give this one a whirl.

I'm definitely interested in checking this out. Shame there's no physical release in NA though.

you realize how ridiculous this sounds?

it all depends on implementation by the developer. if you literally cannot think of a good reason to ever touch the screen, you're delusional.

i mean, mario party on the n64 used the thumbstick in an awfully "gimmicky" way, but it'd be hard to argue that thumbsticks are completely gimmicks.

Maybe for you. I can do everything faster on dual sticks and buttons. I don't want to be forced to use some crap I don't like to use.
Most people can use touch faster when it's designed correctly barring some physical impairment.
That's why I hate touch/motion in most games out there.

The original Little King's Story is soooooooooo good. I should replay it some day. But I don't have a Vita, and I really don't have any intention to buy one. This, Uncharted and AC3: Liberation looks ace but it's not enough for me to buy yet another handheld. I hope this comes to consoles or 3DS too. It seems REALLY strange to me how they went from Wii exclusive (the original) to Vita exclusive (the sequel). Not only did they go from console to handheld but more importantly they went from Nintendo to Sony. When you make a sequel a lot of the people who buy it are probably going to be fans of the first game, and my guess is that most Wii owners choose a DS/3DS over a Vita. If the first game was PS3 exclusive I would have understood it better, but this seems a bit strange to me.

Hmm. I've heard a lot of good things about the Wii game but I'm still not entirely sure what kind of game this is.

Despite the crappy new art style, I'm glad that some more people might finally get exposed to the greatness of Little King's Story.

What? You... didn't buy LBP? wtf man.

Also, you can't rent it in the USA, so depending on where you are...

Not an LBP fan. :(

Don't get me wrong, I love my Vita. In terms of hardware, it's the best handheld I've ever used (And I think I've got most of them). I just use it almost exclusively for PSP and PS1 games. Picked up Rayman for £10 today, and ordered Everybody's Golf though, so hopefully I'll get some use out of those. I figured it's silly that I've had it since launch day and only own one game, so I've taken the plunge.

Also, I'm in the UK, so I can rent this. ;)
I'd buy it, but outside of hearing good things about the Wii version, I know nothing of it.

The OT says it is out tomorrow in the UK yet none of the main online stores have it available for sale (Amazon just gives the sign up to be notified message) and we certainly haven't been sent any copies at the Game store I work at.

Anyone have an idea what is up with the release date or somewhere I can actually order it from?

It's a squad-based, adventure game with simplistic RTS elements (such as active formation changes and "unit buildings"). You also get to watch your town/kingdom grow through simple upgrades. There's room to explore, room to find treasure and of course, fighting bosses. (one of which I'm particularly fond of, hopefully they're still present in this version).

One of my favorite Wii titles.

Aus version has been pushed back to the 4th of oct it seems so maybe it's like that for all of PAL?

So what if you wanted to select numerous characters on screen. With touch controls you could select them all at once. With the sticks and buttons, you had to select them all individually, one by one, moving the stick in a different direction each time to point at them.

You still think you could do it faster?

Hopefully Konami isn't pulling another "welp, we're gonna just let this release date pass by and not tell anybody about a delay" type ordeal. The press releases said those dates, so that's what I put :\ Hopefully it isn't delayed.. Also I'm debating on how much of the costumes to put into the OT, there's quite a bit already.

Art style looks so much better than the Wii version. Might have to pick this up...

Are there any time based elements? Meaning can I play at my own (usually slow because I love to explore and read everything) pace, or are you constantly up against some kind of time mechanic?

Maybe not but I could certainly do it more comfortably. Since we're not talking multiplayer I don't know why I can't just play how I want to play, free of gimmicks. And good news is it looks like I can with this game.

So really it's comfort and familiarity that makes you prefer them, not necessarily speed or efficiency.

Nothing wrong with that, just the comment about being able to do everything faster with sticks and buttons I found strange.

ShopTo have it in stock (For £30, no less), so I guess it is out on Friday.

EDIT: I guess ShopTo links are banned for some reason? Either way, we know that physical copies exist at least.

Wow, first person I've seen say this!

I actually don't mind the art style. Certainly the in-game style is nice.
Still prefer the old one though.

Yeah I feel like the in game style is generally approved of by everyone but it's the dialogue/cutscene art that is fueling the flames of rage. I personally like it a lot, I really enjoyed the style of the original but I felt like they were a bit mutated looking, idk. This style is more anime but the proportions are better.

Awesome, will update the OT.

Yeah I just saw that after trawling through a bunch of sites I never order from - it ended up as a toss up between ShopTo at £30 (who I don't trust) and Zavvi at £28 (who will probably lose it) so I punted on Zavvi.
