Anything is possible if you believe in it; RE2 remake possible

You guys need to calm yourselves. I watched this stream today and it's the same answer they gave when RE5 was released. This is not an official Capcom position, just him saying that Capcom may listen if the fans clamor for it.

In any case, put me in the "yes" boat. I would love to see this.

There's not enough talent left at Capcom for me to trust them with a Resident Evil 2 remake, or REmake 2 or whatever it would be.

Honestly, no thank you.

Then I will clamor for it by avoiding RE6. Just give us what you clearly know we want instead of what you think western gamers would buy more of.

If they did it like REmake with 1080p prerendered backgrounds, tank controls, and new areas/content then I would support it 100%.

If they want to make it in the same style as 4/5/6 then they should forget about it.

I think if RE2make were to happen, it should have been done right after REmake since the original team was still around.

Hopefully fan support does not translate into financial backing.

That would be quite ridiculous and shameful for a Japanese publisher.

You have my moral backing for REmake 2, Capcom!

Not that this will eeeeeeeeeeeeever happen, but if it did I am also in favour of it being in the style of REmake. What a great game. If my Wii wasn't kaput I'd pop that in right now and play it all over again.

For those that are doing the "Megaman Legends 3" skepticism; I'll put it this way:

When Megaman Legends 1&2 came out, no one really loved them including critics and consumers.
When Resident Evil 2 came out, everyone loved it.

I dread whatever "improvements" Capcom has in mind. Im playing RE2 on my Vita right now and its just fine. This coming from somene who LOVES REmake.

Yeah, the onus is on us. We hold the resources to make it happen. What do you want? A paid demo? I bet it has crossed you mind.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Fans have been begging for this for 10 FUCKING YEARS CAPCOM, what exactly is "fan support"?

This. I'd love to get Biohazard 2/3 REbirth's but they simply aren't gonna do it because Capcom is stupid.

Fan support has been there, but Capcom simply hasn't been listening. Instead we get Gears of Evil 6. :/

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
CapcomEuro still remembers Megaman Legends 3, I see. Salt in the wound? TONS of salt in the wound.

Agreed. The last RE game that I enjoyed as an actual Resident Evil game was 2. 4 was a great action game, 5 was shit, and if the demo is anything to go by, 6 is even worse. The series is far from its roots it may as well be titled something else entirely.

If its in the style of the RE1 remake then hell yeah. If its like RE5 or RE6 then don't bother.

Unfortunately, I can't see Capcpom doing anything other than an RE6-style remake at this point. They're too far gone to do anything else.

Prove me wrong, Capcom.

The thing is that RE2 was a survival horror game, where you had to survive through zombies and monsters trying to kill you, while modern RE games are just third person shooters. RE2 was scary, it was the shit back in the days. This generation we have Dead Space 2 which shows what a modern survival horror should be. So just imagine if Capcom were to make a game scary as Dead Space, but based on the ambientations and story of Resident Evil 2; then, it would be the best RE game ever.

I'm a little torn, the old style of resident evil is fairly outdated game design but I certainly wouldn't want it to be like RE6.

I really doubt they will.

Darkside Chronicles and Operation Racoon City, imo, felt like Capcom's way of revisiting RE2 whilst avoiding the route of RE1 remake on the Gamecube, more than anything. They clearly heard the demand to go back to RE2 again, they just didn't want to do it the way oldcore fans expected.

Response #1: Kickstarter!
Response #2: Just like Mega Man Legends 3 amirite?

Now, which one should I go for...?

I will admit, the first things that crossed my mind were these two responses and a third response in the vein of "The Capcom Test Continues..."

Damn, I've always thought of myself as a staunch Classic RE dude who thinks RE4 and beyond are "greasy kid stuff" bullshit compared to the real thing. But I feel like a pussy n00b with all of these people seriously still wanting prerendered backgrounds and contextual tank controls. Real time 3D engine with over the shoulder camera controls are the LEAST of modern RE's sins.

Either this is to get some publicity for the RE brand for the RE6 launch or it's cacpom being cacpom with their tests and shit.

Typical PR response, I don't think we'll se a REmake 2 anytime soon.

And the worst is that they wouldn't make it like REmake....so maybe is for the better.

Lost In Nightmares showed that it could work with RE5's style. If they did REmake2 like that, I'd love it to bits. If they did it in RE6 style, I'd video myself setting fire to a stolen copy and hand deliver it to Capcom.

That was such a tease

Actually, pre-rendered or bust. While RE5 LiN looked good it couldn't compare to the atmosphere in REmake. Imagine glorious pre-rendered backgrounds on 1080p....*drools*

I've disliked a lot of game companies over the years, but I am beginning to grow a true hatred for the motherfuckers running CAPCOM. They are in charge of some of the most loved franchises, and it seriously feels like they are going out of their way to fuck with the fans. I honestly do not understand the contempt they have for the people that have supported them all these years. I will be very angry when I purchase RE6 for PC in 2015.

Lol. We will see RE2 remake the same day with FF7 Remake.

All the fan need the fact check. Its difficult enough to not go ahead with that idea. If current RE never see the light of going back to be horror game. There is no way in hell Capcom will consider remake the horror game which will sale less than the new entry with new audience.

And without enough talent in hand. I think Capcom should leave it till they have one. Unless you guys want RE2 remake in RE 5/6 form?

See, I'm not being that specific. To me, RE4/5/6 are all the same "style". Whatever minor differences to their inventory systems or UI or whatever don't matter. I say take everything about RE2, do it in a real time 3D engine, do an over the shoulder camera, and that's it. Same inventory, same weapons, same everything. Just in a more modern engine. Wishing for Cacpcom to do a full on classic pre-rendered background RE is ludicrous, they'd never do it. Because it wouldn't sell.

What? An RE2 remake is so obvious it hurts. What do you want fans to do, send mass emails to Capcom? Like they'd even listen anyway, we all see what's happening with MegaMan.

And even if it was made it would end up RE6 style and be crap compared to both REmake and RE4, graphically and gameplay-wise. I can probably count on one hand the talented people still at Capcom now.

I didn't realize people saw such a difference between RE4 and 5 and 6. Same shit different number as far as I'm concerned. More or less.
