SEED and Destiny are still ruining Gundam to this day. Every show now has mecha with SEED proportions. They have no waist and really skinny thighs. It was a little better in 00, particularly Season 01, but most of AGE's suits fell into this trap as well.

All I hope is the next series tries something new. Let's ditch the typical Gundam war story and just do something crazy, like G. I also would love a return to suits that actually have eye-pleasing proportions. No need for spikes and thin limbs. It probably won't happen, but it'd sure be great to have something crazy different again.

They were planning a movie. Then his wife got sick or something. It was apparently pretty serious and she was in hospital for a long time. Since she was the lead screenwriter for Gundam SEED, Fukuda obviously didn't want to move forward without her. While that was put on hold, Sunrise moved on with Gundam 00 and Unicorn, and later AGE.

This HD revivial is probably going to eventually lead into something new, since Fukuda is actively working on the series again and supervising all the new cuts and revisions himself.

I fucking hate Gundam SEED Destiny, but I think it's practically impossible to actually find actual evidence that the audience at large in Japan somehow didn't like Destiny. I don't understand why they would love such garbage, but they clearly do. This is one of the best examples of vocal minority in action.

At least AGE was universally reviled/ignored by the mass audience. Rightfully so.

Well, that ending was an okay.

was great in terms of presence (if not similar to other occurrences I've seen of a "spreading darkness"). Tsukiko's situation was sure explained in a neat package. Though, I gave up on expecting subtlety with this series a few episodes back.

This series started off on a very good note. It had characterization done well with connecting points that mattered in the narrative's big picture. This mixed with the better side episodes (the earlier ones) made for positives.

Unfortunately, this didn't follow through in the last stretch. The conflict is handled, but the path to the ending was rough. The direction wasn't tight enough to maintain the highs of the earlier episodes.

Nonetheless, I don't regret watching it in the least. There were some genuinely great episodes, but it made the weaker episodes stand out all the more. Satoshi Kon's character designs along with the general direction, however, was fantastic. The musical direction usually hit the right spots and decent animation was fairly consistent. I would definitely say this is one of the stronger works I've seen of his.

I'd like to take this time to thank sonicmj1 for inviting me to have this backlog summer season. If next summer seems as uninteresting as this past one, I'd be more than happy to do it again!

On the note of whether I thought this was the "shakiest/weakest" of the titles we chose. Hmm, I'd give the title to 08th MS Team instead. Of course, we made a remarkable list overall.

I know, I know, like 50 pages ago you all told me to watch Fate/Zero, but after all these gifs of Chitanda I couldn't resist anymore.
I quite like it, Oreki is so goddamn lazy it's hilarious.
The "mystery" so far is intriguing enough, even though it seems that they mostly solved it there now. Seeing as it's episode 5 and there are 20something of these I assume it's not over yet.

Well episode 6 is almost unanimously decided by animeGaf to be the worst episode of the show, so if you can deal with that, it should be smooth sailing.

- One of the strongest, if not, the strongest ED out of all Hidamari Sketch EDs.

- As expected, it's one of my favorite first episodes of the season (along with From the New World) thus far.

Well, it's possible to dislike the whole resolution to the Orb plotline in the original SEED, with the leaders bringing war to Orb and then just killing themselves afterwards to avoid any consequence... Shinn's atittude and complaints about it were immature, but people who disliked that aspect in the original series could easily sympathize with him there. Add to that people who disliked the whole "savior" take that SEED took in its second half and were happy to get a soldier 'main character' again, who fought without hesitation even if he wasn't otherwise very different from the civilian kids we had gotten before.

Of course, then comes the last 13 episodes of SEED Destiny and Shin becomes a punching bag for Kira and Athrun, gets no development until the final episode and does nothing relevant... Although Shin has gotten some fair representation in some games, like some of the Super Robot Taisen titles, like Z1, which used him as the main SEED Destiny character from beginning to the end, adding some extra development and interactions with past Gundam characters and also one of the original characters. IIRC, ironically, that eventually led to Fukuda complaining about how games' shouldn't be altering the original scenario and creating something different under the same name when he was asked about his opinion regarding changes done by the games.

I liked Gundam SEED Destiny when I first watched it, though granted it was probably in the first ten anime series I ever watched to completion and I was the most typically passive, all-accepting anime watcher imaginable back then. I've come a long way.
