Straight Right (Mass Effect 3 Wii U) porting AAA Square-Enix game to Wii U

Most likely Tomb Raider.

If Sleeping Dogs gets released on Wii U it'll do so when the GotY edition hits.

What recent Square Enix game runs on Unreal Engine 3? I guess since they are working on Mass Effect 3 for Wii U they would give them a game that runs on the same engine.

I was thinking along these lines aswell. Quantum Conundrum is UE3. But that is not a triple A game.

So yeah, it is probably Tomb Raider.

Deus Ex HR 2?
Dungeon Siege 4?
Supreme Commander 3?
Blood Omen 3?
Kayne & Lynch 3?

I can't guess what it is but probably not Tomb Raider. Guys making that game once said that system does not fit for that game, iirc.

I'd actually prefer it to be DX, I think. They might be able to do some interesting stuff with the touchscreen in that context, like using it for hacking computers and electronic locks, or viewing the video feed from security cameras on the touchscreen while the TV displays the POV from where you actually are.

The next Deus Ex, Thief and Soul Reaver are all going to be Orbis/Durango I would imagine, and they won't be out next year.

I doubt a DS4 is going to happen, SC3 could well, but why do that over TR? It's not going to sell even close.

I wish it was Sleeping Dogs... The guys making Tomb Raider seemed so down on the Wii U too bad for them they don't call the shoots.

anyway whatever it is the good news is Wii U has yet another AAA brick to build a core library

Didn't they say it was because they were focusing only on the PS360PCMAC versions and
there was no time for a Wii U version?
Cosidering Wii got the latest entries, I don't see how the game does not fit the system lol

Crystal Dynamics Community Manager Meagan Marie's statement:

If we started building a game [Tomb Raider] for the Wii U we would build it very differently and we would build it with unique functionality. When we started developing the game we made a conscious decision that it was all about building the game for a platform and making sure the game was specific to that platform.Given that we’ve been working on the game quite a while before Wii U was announced I think it would not be right to try and port it across.

Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Manager Karl Stewart's statement:

Um, there are no plans right now. We’re pretty focused on our three platforms. That’s not to say if some day, somebody higher up – such as our head of studio – decided it was a good thing then we’d look at it, but it’d have to be built from the ground up for that platform to make sure it felt worthy of it. We’re not into just porting things across. Certainly, as of right now, there are no plans to do anything.

Oh I see, thanks for the quotes.
Still, money speaks louder and the brand manager said "right now" so there's still a chance

Yeah, it's a possibility. Still, I don't think the port will be of Tomb Raider. I'm guessing it probably won't be a port of an upcoming game. By the way, that quote from Karl Stewart was like from August.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
It's obviously Versus XIII.

Isn't Final Fantasy 14 relaunching soon? The PS3 is finally getting their version and it's already translated. Perhaps they could handle the Wii U version while Square Enix proper is finishing up the new PC client and the PS3 version. Is Straight Right large enough to handle porting a MMO?

As said it could be Tomb Raider. I've been ignoring the game because it wasn't coming and CD made that clear I believe. I've actually soured on it and Crystal Dynamics because of some of the crap they've said in the past regarding the game and the feeling I feel they've been giving off in regard to a Wii U version. This could have no basis but it's a weird impression I have and from a few other companies. As a result I wouldn't really care if it ended up being this. I wouldn't be buying it.

I'd be interested if it was one of the following. Final Fantasy XIV, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (with Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 being released together as a collection seperately), or the upcoming Thief 4. Thief 4 is likely no where near ready for release though.

"We've made a few bets on Wii U actually so we're certainly hoping it does well. In addition to ME3 we have an original Wii U title in development, and we've started on another big game in a well known franchise that will be released in 2013." - CEO Tom Crago

From go nintendo.

Presumably Tomb Raider then unless it's a late port.
it's rather vague if 2013 refers to the port or the big game in general;

but personally, I don't see them porting a Japane game.

I am not sure if anyone at Bioware begged EA to port ME3 to Wii U either.

These stuff are handled by publishers

Everything you posted seems to be if Crystal Dynamics themselves ported it to Wii U. Seems to me SE just throwing it at another company would be the one way we'd get it on Wii U.

There's absolutely nothing "obvious" concerning Versus at this point.

Hitman and Tomb Raider would be new up and coming titles so I'd bet on those, DX:HR wouldn't make much of a splash this late, and I guess Sleeping Dogs might fly too.

I'd be glad if it is Tomb Raider. The new game looks interesting and the less games I have to play on my PS3 the better. I don't know how much left it's got in it.

If it ends up being Tomb Raider, I wonder if the festering internet backlash had any affect on SE's decision to have it ported. Maybe their confidence wavered in its potential, and decided it needed to be on every platform.

More likely, the preorder sell outs left them wondering why they aren't getting in on the action.

Or maybe its not Tomb Raider at all...

It's going to be:

With FFXIII-2 also packaged in with it.

I'd buy a package of 13-2 and 13-3... Then again, I actually liked 13-2, but only rented it... Then again again... I don't think I could stomach a second playthrough of 13-2 either... Or 13-1... Hmmm

Now Chris Slater updated his Linkedin page to remove the Wii U SE game reference:

I hope it's a FFXIII compilation but it's more likely a western game like Tomb Raider.
What's GAF concensus at this point about FFXV? I can see it finally coming "full" multiplatform with the return on a Nintendo console as well as the ps4 and X720. If so, SquarEnix will need to throw some FF games ports at WiiU owners before that. And design-wise, tbalet controls can do a lot of things for the J-RPG's!
