Azrael definitely seems a bit evil.

Love the new visual effects during the Tsubaki playtest. Font reminds me of DESTROYED, too.

These guys have their work cut out for them. Blazblue is dead. Dead dead dead dead dead.
Eh, it could be worse. Send a PM or perform a seance in the OT if you ever want to play. I've been really looking forward to stretching my legs in BB again since I practiced FRKZ a bit and became comfortable with the movement. "Dead" games are my favorite games so far.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the game. But as a competitive community, in North America the best aren't getting better and the community is anaemic. They have to really blow this out of the water.

The issue, SolarPowered, is that there's only so much I can learn from one opponent. And it's an exaggeration to say that I only have one opponent, but the actual number isn't that much higher.

No offense...
I bought ct, then i bought cs and the dlc for cs... Then i bought the current iteration...
And Now they want more money? Make it a dlc price if you own the last iteration , have some shame.....

Yeah, they're becoming worse than CAPCOM at this point, which is kind of embarrassing.

CT -> CS1 was a huge system change that couldn't be added via DLC.

CS1 -> CS2 was a free upgrade.

Extend shouldn't have existed because this game broke the system.

Chronophanstasma is a REWORK of the whole game. It's a whole new story arc.

This is nothing new for ArcSys though. They did it with GG ALL the time.

Pick one: X-Factor or Burst each round makes me not hate a "Breaker" mechanic for the first time.

Yeah I can't understand why people are complaining.

Aksys has been pretty reasonable with the DLC I thought. Maybe the CS DLC characters were a bit overpriced, but I think the game being released at budget price at launch offset that.

No one is making you buy the games. If you don't care about gameplay changes and reworks then stick with what you got and have fun

but with the amount of changes between each version I think they're pretty justified in charging for them. At least with how they have been

BB's always been huge in Japan and decent here. ArcSys aren't too concerned with BB's popularity here. If the community supports it, great. If not, they'll live.

I legitimately think the game would be in a much better place if they just didn't release Extend.

I understand what you mean.
Its too anime influenced for my taste.
Most of the genre is anime. Just so happens that BB isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Let's not go overboard.
if they make Jubei and Kokonoe paid DLC for this then seriously they can fuck off
That would be a real dick move.

The DLC characters were definitely too expensive.

It'd probably be in a somewhat similar situation. BB has needed a far bigger shakeup. They should have just skipped CS2, Extend and gone straight for Phantasma. Lots of people would have gone for that and the lack of Jubei and Kokonoe wouldn't hurt as bad since we would have gotten Valk, Makoto and Platinum on top of these three unknown faces.

Mu-12 and Nu-13 confirmed. There's a scan floating around with both of their portraits as well.
My cousin is going to be happy about this.

So I take it this probably won't see a NA release which means a possibility that a 360 version won't be released.

So how far along is the game's story now? I only bought the first one and was getting deep in it when I stopped playing. Now with all the revisions I feel like I'd be totally lost if each one acted as a follow up to the previous one's story.

Has the story progressed or does each version simply add more to the same story that was in Calamity trigger from the new cast perspectives?

Considering the company that localized the series in the US is Arksys, and they even localized an otome game of all things, it's likely that we'll see a western release in the future. Whether or not Arc System Works do a 360 version for the west is another story.

Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift and Chronophantasma are the "sequels" in terms of story. Each game follows up on the next, it's only been CS with its million revisions that have kept adding to that particular entry's plot.

Extend has the vanilla CS plot, the additional scenarios that expand on characters, and a digest version of CT's story. Chronophantasma follows up Obama what happens in CS.

Seems a lot of you guys are into the competitive mechanisms of the game. Blazblue isn't really my type of fighting game, thankfully, since it literally makes my eyes burn and water when I look at it. but they're my favorite single player fighting game because of their great story presentation and humorous bits.

Continuum Shift is the sequel to CT, all other versions of CS are just expansions with Extend being the most complete one, and Chrono Phantasma should continue were CS left.

Also, speaking of the story, there are like 4 light novels that act as prequels and supposedly add plenty to the story. Like, for example, the original Black Beast being
Nu after falling in the Cauldron with Ragna, while he loses his memory and becomes the original Bloodedge that held off the Black Beast completely by himself while the 6 heroes prepared for battle.

I honestly can't keep the story straight because there are so many fake paths. I can't ever remember what's real and what's not.

I still hate Bullet's stance, but I may get this later on if I can find it at a cheap price.

Then again, I could wait for the more complete version 8 months after, and then wait another 6 months for the most complete version.

@Karst: With the way things work, all of the paths are canon, but only the True story is the one that sticks because it was the latest time loop/main timeline.

The story has progressed a ton and ASW has revised the way story mode works so that it isn't as tedious to get 100%. Continuum shift still had three paths per character, but you don't have to lose to move forward or anything like that. If you didn't get CS you could easily get Extend and get completely caught up on the entire story since it has a recap of CT's story and all of the story modes for every character in the game. I have no idea what kind of story set up they will have for Chrono Phantasma. They might pack in the CT recap and all of the CS stories or they might just have two recaps. Chrono Phantasma will have the simplest format yet since it will have three separate story sections instead of character unique stories. Definitely much easier to keep track of.

Either way... Extend will cover you completely and it is pretty cheap.
Yeah, but I can't remember which details are part of the "true" story. :p
They should definitely have a story gallery where you can check each character's ending after you get their 100%. It's definitely a bit hard to keep track. I'd also like to have each character's joke ending immediately accessible to me. <.<

Crud...I really wanted to know where things were headed with this series, but this is just too much to catch up on. I'll just read a wikia then and decide sometime down the line whether to pop back in since the games were fun.

Currently I'm actually trying out MK9 in preparation for Injustice and discovering I missed out on a lot with this game. Breakers should have been on a different meter, but overall its a damn fine game. I'll probably just play that and KoF XIII till Injustice and let yet another installment go by. If Guilty Gear gets a sequel though I can't help but get it though. I managed to keep up with its games.

I'd experience it the proper way if you can. Both CT and CS kept me engrossed from start to finish. I think CT had a stronger arc(CS suffers a bit from 'everything is even WORSE now' syndrome), but CS' endgame is still great, especially the ending.

What makes you both say this? I watch tournament footage all the time but never followed each iteration's development within the community. Calamity Trigger is the only BlazBlue I own. I bought a PS3 during late 2009 and every time I was considering purchasing the sequel, an even newer version was announced. I know CT to CS was a significant upgrade; what changes did Extend involve? What do you not like about Extend?

MK9 Breakers should have been on a different meter, but overall its a damn fine game.

We should discuss this in the MK9 OT.

Best intro for bb so far. Definitely hyped.

Mu and Nu character art:

just kidding

Some info from dustloop (nu players get hype):

Mu
- Mu's Overdrive is Steins Gazer (Geyser?), it makes her lasers faster
- Her AH got new animation

Nu
- Nu's Overdrive is Unlimited Drive, which increases the amount of swords summoned (like in her Unlimited version?)
- New move, Supra Rage. Nu does a backflip and strikes with her legs, making this a good anti-air move that also gives her some distance.
- can change between armored and unarmored mode!
- specials change in battle mode and normal mode
