Call of Duty never "needed" something like Elite anyway. I enjoyed the shit out of Black Ops 1 before they even mentioned it for Modern Warfare 3. I don't think it's going to really hurt sales for Black Ops 2 on Wii U since most people who are going to get Elite are probably Xbox 360 owners who've made Call of Duty their religion since MW1. Guys like Elpresador could care less about Elite........The Wii U version has separate screen on GamePad local multiplayer with next to no drop in graphic quality. Not to mention the most robust control options of any Call of Duty game ever before it. I'd say it's a pretty even stand off in my opinion.

shit son... you sold me a copy of this thing, very convincing post there

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
The commercial(s) were suppose to start airing today in the UK, with a special 60 second advertisment to air during the upcoming X-Factor UK this Saturday.

Last night, there wasn't anything really on UK TV that would appeal to the "gamer" audience.

However, I have a feeling that the new episode of Red Dwarf tonight (Geeky, cult sci-fi comedy) would be a perfect opportunity to air the Wii U commercial.

The latest Official Nintendo Magazine even advertised the current series of Red Dwarf on the back cover.....

I don't really care about Elite however that it might not/won't be there is just annoying. The problem is we won't know why. Is it because Nintendo's online isn't fully ready and only part of it is? Treyarch not having enough time? Nintendo not working fully with Activision? Not meshing well because of Miiverse and how integrated it is? Nintendo isn't talkative until they decide to be so by default people are going to blame them and say they're screwing up already. I'm tired of hearing and reading that crap. So for that is mainly why I find this annoying in the end.

what is their slogan for WIIU? for some reason i got 「テレビ無し、プレイ」 stuck in my head,,, have any wii commercials or ads shown a definitive slogan?

I can kinda see what you're saying, but people complaining about the Wii U not having something that we don't even know if the PC version has (or didn't have in the case of MW3). Why aren't people complaining about that? Seems like some kind of strange double standard. Reeks of people just complaining just to complain. Should the Wii U version have Elite? I don't know, but ultimately does it really matter?

they seem to be going with みんなでもWii U ひとりでも Wii U or some variation.

Basically 'Even with Everyone Wii U, Even By Yourself Wii U', an extension of the Wii branding, I think,

that's so uninteresting and doesn't even say whats special about the system. I think by now everyone is sick of playing with the word Wii. Haven't we played Wii in every possible way already? I understand it's a huge part of the philosophy of the console but there are no ads that say anything about the tech?

Elite wasnt on the PC version of MW3 and i'm pretty sure PC has had online ready for many many years lol

Played a bit on the demo unit at a local Gamestop. Rayman was fun, although I think Origins looks "richer," if that makes any sense.

The biggest surprise was how light the controller is to hold. I was disappointed there was only what seemed to be a low-quality video of NSMBU, as I was hoping to see how it looks on an HDTV.

Where have you seen this?

This. The CoD games since 4 are always extremely sketchy about the full features coming to any platforms that weren't the PS3/360. It is still disappointing to see that they may not be supporting the Wii U as fully as they should, but hopefully the hooks are at least there for them to add it in if they see a real market on Wii U, which I could definitely see happening since it is the most popular game in the world hitting at the launch of the first big new piece of hardware in 6 years. I will certainly be getting it day one on Wii U, and if by the time the first DLC maps roll around it still doesn't have feature parity I will trade it in and pick it up used on 360.

I just saw that 007 Legends Launch Trailer and I smiled watching the Wii U box right there

btw I'm glad they're keeping the white spine on the Wii U boxes
it won't clash with my Wii collection :D

This was brought up a few pages ago, but I thought I'd reiterate.

The games in the left column are both multiplayer and single-player. The middle is multiplayer only. The right is single-player only. I don't think we have the option to play with computers.

I'm suddenly a little concerned about Nintendo Land. From what I've heard or seen from the final three games, they seem a bit lackluster. I feel really good about Mario Chase and Luigi's Ghost Mansion, though. I can't wait to have that new console feeling.

The Wii Sports theme song, pressing A+B simultaneously instead of a Start button, and pointing at the screen was a great feeling.

Do Nintendo Land games require a nunchuk.. The ones such as Mario Chase, Pikmin Sweet Day, Luigi Ghost mansion etc?

Nope, I believe you only need the Wii Remote Plus. Played Luigi's Ghost Mansion and Mario Chase at the Wii U Experience thing. Didn't see any Nunchucks at any of the NL Demo stations.

well I am a bit afraid to hope for better than that. I would hope it is something special that kept Nintendo hushed about it. But after reading Iwata Asks when the part about NFC came up it could very well be this is the last thing they worked on so it is not finished because Nintendo has a history of updating OS/UI during the life of a platform anyway.

Ah, good intuition - if your hunch is correct, and I think it is correct, this might explain the delay of Rayman. It uses NFC (or is meant to, gong by the promotional material 'leaked' a few months back.

In September, Nintendo Product Manager Bill Trinen stated none of the announced Wii U titles will be supporting the NFC feature. Of course, with Rayman Legends being pushed to Q1 2013, getting NFC support may be a possibility, but I still wouldn't count on it.

they were excited about it enough to have an in-house promo made for its use... if it is easy a few months extra work could go a long way. My guess is they did not want to go against Mario but with the time you never know what Ubi will do

I know this isnt Wii U news, more like marking time til Wii U is out here (7 weeks, one day, who's counting) but Ive started back on Metroid Prime Triology.

At the start of this gen I had not finished any of the following games: Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil 4, any Mario game or any Metroid game.

I've ticked off all those (plus Skyward Sword) and am now playing through MP1. Currently just figured out you are meant to be collecting artefacts. I dont know why, but Ive got two now. I'm not entirely in tune with the games internal logic so I am resorting to a guide because I got about 5 hours in a year ago before putting it down. Now I'm up to Chozo Ruins again but again, I don't know why.

I wonder how people coped with this game back in the day. I know it was very highly regarded but it is also very much a nonlinear progression type game, and unless you are totally in tune with the game world design, you would have to revisit an area several times before finding where to go next.

Anyhow, enjoying the game quite a lot, and the thermal visor bit was pretty cool.

That's the whole point

*sees a purple door*
*shoots at it*
"I can't open it... looks like I have to wait until I get the power up for it"
*gets the WACKY WAVING INFLATABLE ARM FLAILING TUBE MEN Beam in Area A*
*goes back to Area B to open purple door*
"Yay new area to explore!"

Put away the guide. Just explore.

Yeah I'm kind of leaning that way now. I had to do it because of being a few hours in to the game and having not touched it in a long time had lost all point of reference. I feel like Ive got that back and am starting to get a mental map of the place.

You will hate the Chozo spirits part with your X-Ray visor.

those 3rd party controllers look pretty decent, love the snes fused inside haha :p
will get one when it releases for sure.

Lego City looks like it would make launch but is being saved for after launch, dat mario gonna dominate

I want to play lego city, the trailers and clips were good.

The choice would be nice. Not everyone will be spoofing over YASMB. I'm buying it day one because I have no choice

Hopefully we can get away without WR+ for games that are just like SNES controllers (Mario Chase). What games have we seen, other than Zelda that need that motion control?

You can't look at it and think 'hey golf / bowling / tennis, I already know how to play that' -- but I think people have a slightly altered memory of how people first perceived the Wii... even at its unveiling, a lot of people didn't really understand the appeal of it until they actually PLAYED it, or PLAYED wii sports. I think we all understood that motion-control with proper gestures had arrived and was about to hit the big time... but I think most of us underestimated how popular certain Wii games would be.

Sure, you put granny (or even your non gaming parents) in front of either wii sports or Nintendoland and they'll give you a blank stare.

But give them a wiimote and tell them it's a tennis racquet and they know what to do. Now hand them a huge tablet/controller thingy, and explain that this funny little stick on the left moves the character on the screen around, and the A button makes home jump - no I don't know why it's called 'A' it doesn't matter gran.

Coming from a gaming background they look simple enough that anyone should understand, but they won't. Not nearly to the same level as the wii
