Will wait and see how it's fully implemented but it's very nice to have confirmation of ranks. I would imagine that we'll see it in the game itself sometime next year. I do wonder how much of the CSR is just a rip of TrueSkill matching data and what specifically is looked at by the matchmaking system. It says you will go up and down based on match outcome. Does that mean the system basically starts from scratch when it is released?(Everyone is actually ranked 0 and True Skill has nothing to do with it?) I can't imagine CSR will be used for matchmaking purposes for that reason. Will the True Skill system and CRS system be reflections of one another over time? Just going to have to wait and see.

Honestly, I'm mostly excited about the fact that I don't have to read Cyren bitching about ranks in every HaloGAF thread and twitter lol :p

Why bother? I'm serious, this is pointless. It doesn't affect matchmaking at all. Good players are still going to get matched against scrubs, there are no specific ranked playlists and no in game ranking whatsoever.

You guys are blowing my mind here, I just don't know why you think this is a good idea.








Fuck this, i'm getting pretty damn pissed off. If there were dedicated servers then there would be no excuse for not having a quality ranking system.
And there is no excuse for not having dedicated servers. Especially now that there is "join session in progress". ESPECIALLY since half a billion dollars was poured into this game.

Anyone here want Medal of Honor Warfighter or Far Cry 3? I got Steam codes from the AMD graphics card deal for them and I just know I'll never get around to playing them.

That's actually a good point. Having separate ranked and social playlists was nice. Now if I want to keep my rank I will only play in certain playlists when I have a team together.

No, I'm saying that sometimes, I may want to play slayer pro but not do not want to play on my highest level like I would when I'm playing rakend. Like when you wanted to play slayer in Halo 3 but not ranked. You'd play social slayer instead of ranked team slayer. Now, that option isn't there because you're ranked all the time.

Per playlist.

Now make it so it's instantly viewable in a pre-game lobby and it's ready to go. Keep it behind a Waypoint barrier and honestly it's near enough worthless to a lot of people. Please 343, really it's the last step. Do that and I alone will play the game for a long time, regardless of the CODisms and general aura of unoriginality. BR, fast movement, 1-50, MLG playlist, I'm set.

Please, don't do all this good work and fall at the final hurdle. Frank if you do this I'll post you The top 100 Kop moments on DVD.

OKAY, so if Waypoint is built into the game...does that mean I can see my rank if I'm in a lobby right before a game is about to start?

Or will I have to exit a match to see if I ranked up or down?

I always wonder this as well.

I thought it was canon that any skin that was covered while in cryo would burn like hell after waking up, which was why it was so damn impressive of the Chief to have been in cryo in full MJOLNIR armor.

Keyes and Halsey were both described as nude, if I remember correctly, while in cryo at the beginning of Fall of Reach.

To guess, it's their "encourages bad behaviour" perspective. Having it hidden provides for an argument of "those that really want to know it can". I disagree, obviously.

On a serious note, I didn't care too much one way or the other about visible ranks, but it's nice to see 343 making an effort to get them in. I'd rather not have to go to Waypoint to see them if they are to be in, but Frank mentioned "anything is possible" so that works for me.

Now you can see my many level 1's.

Dammit people, it is to avoid nude scenes, even though it is incorrect canonically (that said, anti-cryo burn suit sounds plausible).

This. But I'm staying positive, 343 have really surprised me with the announcement and I see it as progress. Like I say, one last hurdle, realise that Waypoint's a pile of gash and move on.

Why wouldn't I be?
This "system" takes stats from social playlists (which are all of them, again) and makes a number 1-50 depending on just how badly you dong on guests and people that have zero ability. It is beyond pointless, it simply panders to people that have been whining about not having a visible 1-50.


A good ranking system helps the population flourish. This one only serves to encourage excessive stat padding and rolling in a full party against guests. Casuals will be turned away in droves.





Whatever, i'm not talking about this anymore. Peace.

If I have to go to Waypoint to view it and it's never integrated into the actual game, it's a pretty irrelevant feature for me. At least it's there in some form though, for people who care about that.

waypoint is in game. there's also always the ability to have surface going on whatever device you choose so that you can see your rank improve there.

I think the positive to take away from this is that it is a step in the right direction. Our cries have been heard, and maybe a little more crying and we will get something that we all want - visibility from within the game. Until then all we can do is "beg" a little more. Yeah it sounds bad but we're getting somewhere, and our small minority of a community is being heard.

Frankie, you and the team are ALMOST there. You're teasing us right now but I have hope that you will do us well. Please don't disappoint us.

Well, it's one thing to have another players rank tucked into Waypoint, but to have your own be tucked away just seems like an unnecessary extra step.

Having it displayed to the individual without displaying it to the group would more ideal, I think.
