C'mon Vinnie Mac do it.

Actually Disney are in the buying mood, they need less morality tales as well. So Saints Row 4 would be the perfect product for them.

But they just transitioned away from "core games", and it sounds like they are going to scale down LucasArts to do casual and mobile stuff after 1313 with possible licensed console games in the future.

Why would they buy a company that just ditched all their casual mobile and kid friendly developers to transition into AAA "core" games...

MS doesn't need a bigger western presence though. Nintendo would probably benefit the most, but half of the things THQ makes like Relics games and WWE wouldn't be valuable to them. They would only want Saints Row and Darksiders (mainly Saints Row)

MS needs exclusives to have some ammo in the next generation. It paid off big early in the 360's life.

Capcom or Konami could quickly globalize by snatching up THQ, Square-Enix style.

I hope to fuck those beautiful ip's of THQ don't get snatched up by Sony & MS and on the every off chance Nintendo. I say no to exclusivity! I want all gamers to be able to enjoy SR, CoH and so on.

Doesn't the guy who owns this forum have enough money on his own to buy THQ? That'd be pretty interesting...

The IP's will be sold off, no need to take the entire shithole that is THQ.

How about GAF gets together to form a corporation and we can all be either common or preferred shareholders? I have always thought we could turn our influence into a dominating force in the gaming industry.

What say you GAF? Buy out THQ?

Has anyone proposed a kickstarter for gaf to buy THQ? Because I propose a kickstarter for gaf to buy THQ.

$1.16 right now with a market cap of 7.95M

Do it Sony, pull the trigger!

I'm actually surprised EA, UBI, Zenimax or one of those bigger companies haven't tried to snatch it yet. I'm guessing THQ has tons of debt?

I know it is not as easy to buy it out right. as if walking into a store and buying groceries.

I am personally hoping for a purchase by Square-Enix. They have proven themselve to be quite the competent publisher, as far as western games go. They pretty much revived Eidos. I want them to do the same for THQ.

I'm guessing they know THQ will go bankrupt soon, so they are just waiting for that to happen so they can get only what they want for cheap.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if THQ started selling their good IPs to try to survive even longer (like they did with UFC license to EA).

They came to my mind too, SE handled Sleeping Dogs quite well. I'd like to see how they'd handle WWE, maybe firepro that bitch up.

Take-two would be another publisher, but SR would conflict with GTA and end up being shelved I bet.

Outside of Ninsonysoft, I'd also fear EA would crap up the IP's.

you can't put a price on sparks
i think Square Enix can definitely make a play on THQ and make them the "new" Square Enix America. They'd probably have to replace most of the executives there, though Jason Rubin is new and he SEEMS like he has a good vision for the company, so he should stick around in that case.

but everyone else needs to go from corporate.

don't ask me for codes
Ugh.
3rd party (say Square Enix): everyone gets to play these games. 1st party: exclusives.

3rd party > 1st party

It's a reference to a quote someone made when Nintendo announced they'd be publishing Bayonetta 2.

How low will they go? Can they really drop any further?

Will be interesting to see who swoops in and when. They do have some IP's that could be profitable with proper management and focus.

Am I just really out of touch in thinking this South Park game will do ok-not-great? Is that show really that big anymore? I know it has its fans, but I'd be surprised if it blew away the 2 million number I saw mentioned earlier.

Company of Heroes being an RTS exclusive for PC puts Relic in a even more fragile spot. Warhammer being a licensed IP doesn't help also. Shit. I need to stop thinking about this.
you know what to do Gabe

THQ Owes $100,000,000.00

So unless you got this laying around:
3zqXF.jpg

Are OK with it being let go and never seeing it again, Go ahead, fine business decision

Then you own THQ...

Now about that $30+ million burn rate per month you are now on the hook for

My money is on WB Interactive

They feasted off Midways carcass, THQ is next

I know, it just got on my nerves a bit as that got run into the ground in that Bayonetta 2 thread already.

I think you misinterpreted the way I was using it anyway; I was saying Nealand was saying that THQ's franchises going 1st party would be stealing our games, not the other way around.
Anyway, I'd still rather one of the big 3 picked them up than nobody.

Combovers don't work when there is no hair
How did THQ get into trouble in the first place? don't they have ips that sell well?

uDraw was a success on Wii.
Some marketing genius at THQ decided they should try to replicate that success by making uDraw for PS360, when even the average Internet armchair analyst could've told them it was a bad idea.
uDraw PS360 went down in flames and basically brought the entire company down with it.
The end.

And whoa, they're worth less than $8 mill. now? They're well and truly fucked.

So nobody is going to step in? this is insane.. -72% since yesterday?

Read my post, who the hell is stupid enough to go, "Oh the Company is only worth 5 million, chump change"...

They forget the company owes money, lots of it, $100 million of it

So you bought the company for $5 mil, but you are on the hook for that debt, so now THQ costs you $105 million

Then you have to run the monthly costs, and they are around the $30 million mark per month

So buy for $5mil, owe $100mil debt, and operating the company day to day (running cost) $30mil per month...

So yeah, no one is investing

Most are waiting for bankruptcy of THQ, then those IP's & Studios will be worth pennies, before they were worth dollars

Then either with slick financing, some THQ insiders can wheel and deal and set-up a new company and use the top tier resources and start up again

or

Sell everything, pay off the creditors, pack it up boys, great ride (jobs lost, studios shuttered, IP's either lost/shelved/vanish/sold off)

Ninty is too busy getting ready to come into the HD market with WiiU and build up a foundation for it
Why would it just buy studios left and right, most it never has done business with until recently
Just cause Darksiders II is releasing (hopefully) doesn't mean NIN + Vigil are besties

MS is to busy launching Halo and trying to get it's franchise set-up for the next push for next gen

Sony is in horrible shape, it doesn't want to waste it's cash reserves for it
They can't handle all their WWS right now and you want them to tack on 5+ or more

All the 3rd party publishers have their franchises churning
They will not go out of their way to put themselves in the hole just for future promises
Why not wait?
No one is in any hurry, if they were there would have been rumors/talks of buyouts etc.

Yeah I don't see anyone wanting to buy THQ because of the huge debt. THQ is better off selling their IP's and game company devs like Midway did after they went down in order to pay off their debt. Saint Row + Volition will be the most wanted. Not sure how much Relic would be worth without the Warhammer 40k license since THQ doesn't own the IP.
