Treyarch pull Nuketown 2025 pre-order bonus map in Black Ops 2(Up: Back, in playlist)

So what? It's just a preorder bonus. It's not as if people paid more for it anyhow, and did it ever make a stipulation that it was going to always be in the hoppers?

No, it just said, 'Pre-order Blops 2, get a code for another map that you can play on.'

That's it.

Lol, you're really defending this bullshit? REALLY? Okay

:/

If it turns up as part of a map pack, that'd be possibly one of the worst displays of userbase exploitation in gaming history surely?

fucking hell I never even got to play multiplayer yet. only reason I pre ordered the game in the first place was to play stupid ass nuke town. They even printed it on the goddamn case that nuke town was a big deal.

Not that this level of defending warrants a reply, because what you said is just laughable, but it did say in the game: "24/7, 365 days a year. We never close!".

And that map has now been removed (apart from custom games which no one really plays).

It's not difficult to grasp why people would be annoyed, especially when a lot of people really enjoy the chaos of it and Treyarch/Acti really pushed it in the pre-release hype - it was one of the reasons why I was considering it.

Or you can just look at it from the perspective of Treyarch having no good reason to remove it (or none that they've communicated - which looks really shitty from a consumer standpoint.

Wow I'm glad I didn't pre-order. The only reason i was gonna pre-order and not wait for a sale is to get Nuketown, i loved the 24/7 servers in BO1. This is pathetic and I've no doubt it's some sort of money grab. They're probably afraid of how many people are using it and how they might not buy map packs or some bullshit like that, or maybe they're leveling up too fast and that can shorten the play time. What a joke.

You guys do know you didnt have to pre-order to get the nuketown map right?

I didn't preorder and I never got the code. Only the very 1st print copies had it, so if you got it without a preorder then you're just a lucky bastard to have got one of the surplus copies left over for late preorders.

The ONLY reason I preordered was to get this map. I really liked the original version of this map and also thought that there was a chance it would be in normal rotation and people who didnt have it would be kicked from the lobby when it came up (which sounds shitty, but hey, these guys are capable of being pretty shitty). First time playing, I saw it was it's own playlist and thought 'hey at least people who didnt get it arent going to be screwed'. Now its just yanked out from under everyone who cared enough to preorder. In the end, I'm the sucker and they got full price out of me. Fool me once...

I don't remember the source but wasn't Nuketown being considered as part of the map pack season pass for those who didn't preorder? Regardless this was a boneheaded decision on Treyarch/Activision's part that seemingly has no rational reason behind it and very much looks like bait and switching for preorders. I wasn't a fan of the map, but I did load up the game mode occasionally to fuck around while waiting for friends to finish a match.

Wow what a scam alot of us pre-ordered on the basis of this map. The map had quarter of a million people playing it concurrently on XBL over the weekend, thats like x4 the amount of people of the Steam version all up.

If a lot of people find it fun, don't you think it's a shitty thing for Treyarch to do then?

It's a deep dark hole you get into if you start pandering to a subset of a game's community to produce content that, frankly, is abused to gain XP and is objectively bad level design for the size of games you get in Call of Duty. I'm honestly not sure if that is fun for people, to level up quicker, since I've only ever played a small amount of the original Black Ops and I didn't find it much fun in the first place.

I can tell you the reason it was pulled there was a scam going on advertised on hotdeals uk site i think, cant find the link now probally been removed,

but basically the poster on the site was advising uk customers who hadnt preordered the game to contact them and say the code for nuketown was missing (Even though they weren't entitiled to it) and then they were given a code as the system ballsed up and didnt check whether it was a preorder

or something like that, so basically you have those to blame for it no doubt,
Yeah sorry I don't think that had anything to do with this.

Probably Treyarch/Activision were worried people were using Nuketown to level up too fast or something. That and they just didn't expect people to care this much, which would have been foolish.

It has to be some kind of trend they're noticing with the worldwide statistics they record. Maybe too many people are playing it or they're leveling up too fast since the games are quick, it's gotta be something population related which would effect future revenue. Always about squeezing every last penny out of you when Activision is involved.

Nuketown is god awful. Personal tastes aside, this is wrong, as I know many people's day one, full price purchases were based solely on the fact that they would be getting this map. I'm not sure if it was known that there would be a Nuketown 2025 24/7 playlist before launch, but that doesn't really matter here as Treyarch has confined it to custom matches which may as well mean that the map doesn't exist at all anymore. I'd be furious if I actually gave a shit about the map. Instead I'm just disgusted, especially since there was such a huge deal made about this map being a pre-order bonus. These idiots would be completely irrelevant were it not for them riding IW's coattail.

What is this post? How is it "objectively bad" in any way, and how the fuck could you possibly "abuse" it for XP?

Every CoD has had at least one crazy small map. Playing a rare round of Shipment or Dome amidst a regular steady rotation was a nice breather and could be fun despite the chaos. The problem with Nuketown is that in Blops I it popped up too often in regular rotation and EVERYONE voted for it always. It got a annoying, because it's not a fun map to play over and over again. I thought what they were going to do with BLOPS II was smart. Just stick it in a separate playlist so you don't fuck up normal map rotation.

Are custom matches basically the same as in any other game? Or is there something particularly shitty about them in CoD?

I am legitimately fucking pissed. Don't get me wrong, Nuketown was fun to mess around on and just to level up fast with, but I wasn't a super huge fan of it inherently. But this was your big pre-order incentive, and you pull it less than a week after launch? I was already lukewarm on the game, but they just guaranteed I won't buy the next CoD day one. Fuck, I feel fucking terrible for making sure my friends pre-ordered so we would all have it. Wow.
