Yep, basically this is all on the developers. Its a crummy deal offering a pre-order bonus to basically pull it from the public except for custom and offline.

Honestly, why in the hell would Treyarch/Activision do this? They made sure to beat the point into your head during ads for the game "pre-order to get Nuketown 2025!"
I was never super fond of the map back when I had BO1, but it was fun to play once in a while just for the craziness. Kind of like shipment in COD4. To just pull the map like this is some shady ass move...

I liked nuketown. If I'm gonna die alot for being a CoD noob, at least make it on a tiny, hectic, fast action map.

I haven't played BLOPS2 yet, is Nuketown 24/7 its own mode or something? And that mode got shut down, but you can still play the regular map in normal MP online? Or not even that?
I can't believe people are getting into such a huff about a free map, but then again, CoD...
But for a small fee we will extend the maps to up to a year..probably.
It had it's own playlist, You can't play it in normal rotation yet and they said that "might" be coming.
It's not just about the map, it's about something that you had to preorder the game for than less than a week after the game is released.
they take it away and don't put it into regular rotation other than custom gametypes.
I really don't care about CoD but this is not acceptable at all.

It was it's own mode, which was a nice solution to a problem with Blops 1. It took Nuketown out of regular rotation, but still let people who loved the map to play it 24/7 to their hearts content. It was also a pre-order bonus, which makes it extra scummy. You apparently can only play it in customs now, which is pointless.

My guess is that they are pulling it so that they can promote "NUKETOWN24/7" weekends in the future to drum up sales during a lull.

Nuketown isn't a good map but it WAS the best map in the game.

They couldn't open it to normal rotation, because anyone that didn't have the map would get booted from the party every time it came up. If they gave it to everyone, the people who pre-ordered would - though they lose absolutely nothing - complain bitterly about that.
Other than leaving the 24/7 playlist active all the time, doesn't seem like there was a good way out. Maybe that should be a lesson for them next time - don't lock away maps as a "bonus"

I assume they will because it's COD related news, and that's the big game of the moment - but will it just be a copy/paste job or will they use their connections to actually ask Treyarch and get them to clarify why it was removed and question the thinking behind it?

No matchmaking is fine i think, but i see no reason to remove the dedicated Nuketown mode, where Nuketown is the only map.
