Yeah, the Bonus Edition stuff is a redeemable unlock key, at least in the PS3 (and I'm assuming 360) version.

Aren't the handheld versions getting bonus editions, too? Wonder how that'll be handled. I assume Vita would probably work the same was as PS3, but I have no idea about the 3DS version.

The 3DS supports DLC, so I'm sure they'll have some sort of unlock key too. Or it could be part of the data that gets initialized on the first boot, and saved to that specific 3DS.

Huh? But I didn't download anything. I bought the WiiU version and he was there when I started the game (I know because he was the first guy I tried out).

Maybe he comes with all Wii U copies then. But on 360/PS3, you get him and OutRun Bay by getting the Limited Edition (which is basically the first print run of the game, available at the same price).

He only comes with the bonus edition. On 360 and PS3, you have to activate an online pass type thing, I guess Wii U handles it differently. He's DLC in the sense that on every other version of the game, he's locked on-disc.

No Wii U games have online passes. It must be nintendo policy or something.

If you're talking about Samba Studios, then Vamos a Carnival was originally in the updated version of Samba that never came to America, so PSO would be the first time a lot of people heard it.

Or at least, I think it was only in ver. 2000. I don't remember what the original track list was anymore.
Ah, thank you I didn't know that, but yeah I just know I had the song on the Gamecube one.
What capture card do you have?
I'll see if I can find my box tomorrow, I bought an internal one (one that's inside the computer) a few years ago and I don't recall the name of it.
If only. I actually didn't get to play online for the longest time, but I bought PSO plus cause I liked the game so much and it had this and I always would like to do this mission cause of that song. BURNING RANGERS!
:( That's awful.

I wonder if Wii U discs scratch? Luckily I have never damaged a single one of my very very numerous 360 games.
It is...sold Nintendo Land to get this too.. I don't plan to find out as I plan on going full digital with Wii U. I've lost about 4 games to the 360, but yeah stuff like this made me realize I just need to stop buying games for 360.
Return it. Say it came that way.

Ah, I don't think I could bring myself to do something like that.

I still don't trust Nintendo when it comes to digital. I bought this game digital because it's multiplayer (so maybe someone will want to play on a whim) and I wanted to try out a digital game.

But with Nintendo's ineptitude with Wii U accounts I will be buying everything retail.

What is the consensus for the Wii-U version? I got $50 nintendo bucks just eating at me and nothing else on the E-Shop stands out.

Is it a competent version?

It seems like it's on par with the other two technically, but it's currently suffering from a gamebreaking bug in the career mode. There's a workaround and it's being looked into, but it's unpleasant.

On the 360 and PS3 they're running fine, and there aren't many differences between the two.

I think I am going t go with the Wii U version because the PC version seems to not be coming out this year.

Is this bug in Career mode going to stop me and my friends from unlocking all characters and stages?

Also how is the online performance so far? can i take my split screen friends online with the Wii u version as well?

So I did a little wiki-ing and found out that Joe predates Strider and Ryu Hyabusa. Any other Ninjas that predate Joe or were introduced at the same time as him?

Yes. Wii U has 5 player split screen online.

It's wiimote + nunchuck mandatory right? or is it possible to play it using wiimote only?
IIRC wiiU supports pretty much all the controllers available. Mayyyybe not solo wiimote though lol

I think we need an FAQ section in the OP

Play on the 360 guys, forsake your shiny new toy and play with the rest of us.
To be completely honest the only reason i am even interested in this game is because it's on wii-u and i would like a few more games for this system.

I already have Forza 4, Horizon and NFS on 360.. I really don't need or want another racer on my 360.

I just ordered the Wii U version of the game. Hopefully I'll have it next week and the bugs will be fixed. Look forward to seeing you guys online.

I think some of the expert ghost times need to be lowered. First lap beat the other 3 ghosts then the expert time is like 6 seconds faster than the hard time.....

Only people that have faster times are top 3 on the leaderboards by milliseconds.
I've struggled through the first 9 on expert, now I'm at the Chilly Christmas track (or whatever it is called) and it's close to impossible. After several hours of trying, my best time is a 53.3, whereas I need a 53.0 IIRC. I'm determined to beat it, but wow. Whoever is playing it at SUMO is insanely quick.

The last turn on that track is diabolical. Where I seem to lose time though is in the water. I make the jump, flip a few times to get the max boost but shortly after the AI ghost sales past me. I've tried a few characters with different speed/accel/boost etc, it always happens however.

Me, you, and your avatar's pecs will tear up the tracks.

Seriously though, if we have enough, some GAF races would be fun. Seems like most people in here picked up the Wii U version though.

Yeah online is pretty grim still. Maybe after black friday it'll pick up. I couldn't even get a race going online today!

All systems do this. It makes the idea of having your system be vertical be all the more assinine. It happens because when the disc goes off kilter, it grinds against the laser unit that reads it, resulting in a ring.

YOU SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP YOUR SYSTEMS HORIZONTAL. ALWAYS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
My dang ass 360 won't read discs right when it's horizontal. :/

We still doing favorite stages? Hmm... Dragon Canyon, Samba Studios, Sanctuary Falls, Burning Depths [M] (is burned into my brain because that Fast Lap mission against Segabot), and the 4 returning tracks.

I severely disagree, hated just about everything about Double Dash, it's my least favorite Mario Kart, in my opinion the WORST and I do not understand why people call it "the best" or even good.

Those people are crazy. Double Dash is the worst Mario Kart and SO SLOW.

I know right? It's slow, it has terrible courses, it introduced the dumb babies, the car designs look awful, the music is shitty and I really do not like the partner-system... I cannot comprehend why people liked it so much.

WOAH. Woah. Woah. Hold up, hold up.

Waluigi Stadium, Dino Park, Daisy Cruiser.

I like the tracks, though admittedly I like them more outside of Double Dash.

edit: Baby Park is great fun!

Baby Park is a bit of a paradox. It's a terrible track that's only made any fun at all because of how incredibly broken and imbalanced Double Dash's items are. When they brought it to DS, it was lame. The track is only good, because Double Dash is meh.
