Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed |OT| Everybody's Super Sonic Racing

WOAH. Woah. Woah. Hold up, hold up.

Waluigi Stadium, Dino Park, Daisy Cruiser.

I like the tracks, though admittedly I like them more outside of Double Dash.

Waluigi Stadium is meh, Dino Park is terrible, Daisy Cruiser is okay. Everything else, including the Bowser Castle iteration, is awful. DD's Bowser Castle is not as bad as MK7's, but still.

Double Dash is slow? Whaaaaaaaaat?

It's a helluva lot faster than MKWii

edit: Baby Park is great fun!

Baby Park is probably THE worst single course in the game.
And MKWii might be sluggish, but at least it has mostly good courses (fuck Coconut Mall though) and the kart/bike designs are badass.

Mario Kart DS. Which is the best Mario Kart.

+1

Best Mario Kart is the 64 version. It's balanced, the weapons are pretty fair and most of the courses aren't an eyesore.

Very close second after DS imo.

For as awful as I think Double Dash is in nearly every respect, I wish Nintendo had kept the partner gimmick as an optional extra in later games. Was the only thing that kept me coming back to that game.

Though I also thought DS was 'meh' so whatever. Still has the borked weapon system from DD so no clue why it took until MKWii for most people to notice MK had turned into a racing version of Mario Party outside of time trials. Waluigi Pinball is good, but not good enough to of prevented me from selling MKDS awhile ago for a pretty penny.

Also guessing the PC version for Transformed is still up in the air release date wise?

What is Superstar Showdown and how do you unlock it?

The final final world tour course, featuring mirror courses. Keep chugging along.

Eh, I like some of the more generic courses in DD too, like Mushroom Bridge and Mario Circuit. I think they're a lot better in DS, MKWii and 7, though.

I don't outright hate DD, but I'd pin the blame on it for any downward descent the series has or is facing.

From what I'm reading, this game has turned out... Awesomely!?

What the WHAT!?

Why wouldn't of it? The first game was an unexpected hit, and all the Sonic stuff is fairly ignorable and just there for obvious marketing reasons rather than being an indicative of its overall quality.

Is Miiverse missing from Sonic Wii U? If it's there, I'm missing it terribly. The community for this game on Wii U is dreadfully small, but they're some pretty good artists. Lots of lovely pics.

I played the first one and thought it was a bit dull honestly.

I'm willing to give this a shot though, seems like they really have improved upon the last version.

MK DD the most hated and MK Wii loved?

Did alternate universe GAF visit today or something?

I love MKDD and remember it fondly. I'm gonna say it's because it's the game that my Dad, little sis and I played every Saturday morning for like 1/2 a year. I miss those days :(

I'm nit picking but I'd love for a certain mode of races to not appear until after I unlock the regular courses.

And shut up idiots with your mics...you talk too much

Just finished playing this for about an hour.

Loving it, feels like Speed Racer. Just doing Grand Prix's atm.

Happy that they didn't change it too much from the first one.

Alright, I'm starting to come around on this game. Spent most of the night playing 3 player Grand Prix with a couple of my nephews (10yo and 24yo) and it was really fun. I'm used to how it controls now and I figured out you can bank (switch the direction of your drift without using/losing what you've accumulated in the drift so far), so that helps. I feel the planes are still very touchy with the controls. I'm actually fine with the boats. They didn't take long to get used to.

But what's really sold it to me? I LOVE having my own screen when playing multiplayer. Screw my nephews, they can share the TV in splitscreen, I have my own screen on my controller.

Also, the courses get really damned awesome. Really hope we get more as DLC. It's funny because there were very few courses all three of us agreed were great. Ones they hated I loved and vice versa.

So I've kind of done a 180 on this game. Waiting patiently to hear when we can expect a fix for World Tour in the Wii U version.

EDIT: Basically I just had to learn to work with the new mechanics instead of against them.

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but where are all the reviews for this game? Metacritic only has 10 which seems kinda low. Especially video reviews which is what I was just looking for, neither IGN or Gametrailers have one. Just seems weird to me.

Guess a lot of sites are focusing on Wii U (overall system) coverage/news.

There will probably be more reviews by next week.

This and the first game are both more interesting than MK Wii, at least in SP and Online MP.

Local MP is a different story, though. It takes time to get used to the drifting and if you just want to jump in with a friend, MK is the game to play.

Also, the lack of Bonanza Bros. is puzzling, to say the least. Love those guys!

No catch, seems to be some recent marketing trend by SEGA as Sonic Generations was also launched at a cheaper price.

Sega have been genuinely smart with game prices recently. VF5:FS basic for £10 or £20 for the version with all bells and whistles is another example that I felt was smart, particularly as there was no missing content from the core game at the lower price point.

I like it and I have no qualms paying day one prices everytime, as long as they keep producung quality games (which they have been doing recently).

Dont know if my inability to finish the Sonic Casino is due to my lack of skills or the glitch that lacks the proper amount of boost pads.

Decided to order this Sunday night. I think it came today so will be delving in tonight.

Not read all the thread as of yet but have a few questions.

What game options are there. In terms of SP, MP etc
How is the career mode?
How is the online play so far in terms of connection, players online, race modes etc.

Are there plenty of unlockables and are these all done via the main career mode or other modes?

Inevitable question i know but being a massive MK fan i just wondered how this compares.

Ill be playing the PS3 version BTW!

You can play the main SP modes with up to 3 other offline players. modes include World Tour, wherein you complete a challenge in a stage of the game. There's also Grand Prix, where u race in 4 stages and earn scores to win. There's also time trial, races without weapons and regular single races.

How is the career mode?
Only issue with it is that Hard and Expert are unfair, but do-able. Don't let that turn u off, you'll end up loving the game.
My advice is to play World tour first.

Not much aside from unlocking characters and mods to alter their stats. Oh and stickers for your online license/tag.
...but u'll have fun advancing and unlocking stuff in WT.

Just to be clear: Contrary to MKWii I can play the world tour mode with as many as 5 players one the Wii U and 4 on every other system? Or am I limited to one or two?

Having vyse and a track based around skies tells us sega are up to something, it's always been that way with them, guessing an xbla?psn release at some point.

Just like they were up to something when they let SUMO put Ryo Hazuki in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing...

Now somebody please vote for Kiryu to complete the great Manly Trio ;.;.
...and while we're at it, any chance for a Kamuro-cho stage for a future DLC release, S0L?

They actually got Vyse's VA to do his voice in this game IIRC.

Somebody get Bluepoint to get Shenmue 1 and 2 HDified and at 60 FPS.

Thanks for the info mate.

No problem, 1 word of advice though: Play on Medium on all stages in WorLd Tour to unlock stuff faster. It'll be a pain at first but with time you'll get used to it.

I 1000GS'd the original and this one is only better. Though, with all the releases around, I'm afraid I'll spend less time with it.

I like that I can play the career mode with local co-op, and my partner is leveling up the other character and can earn stars.

Bought this after reading some good reviews. I had no idea it was even being released. Played it last night for the first time and it is great. Definitely a challenge too.

So whats up with the character selection for each game?

I saw some footage of the character selection screen for 360 which is different for the PS3, did any of them get exclusive characters? or is it just the avatars on the 360 that get an extra slot.

Also how many are in the Wii U version?

How many tracks are there guys? Are they all unlocked from the get go? If not how many are available from the start?

How does the WT mode work? Is it a mixture of straight up races and other challenges and you get star ratings based on performance?

Forgive my ignorance i never played the previous game so im a noob with this.

I believe the only difference is Xbox360 gets your Avatar, Wii U gets your Mii, and PC gets Team Fortress 2 Characters. I am unfamiliar on any extra characters for the PS3 version.

I'm getting my Wii U copy in the mail today. If anyone wants to add me as a friend my NNID is DredPirateStorm. I see some people are having issues with the day 0 patch breaking the boost missions. Is there any way to disable the patch so I don't bork the game?
