It has been a good morning:

Also picked up all The Hobbit sets...

And this haul wouldn't have been complete without:

Update on my purchase craze, like I said before I had a 100$ gift card from futureshop and they have a modest selection of Lego online only plus they have 15% off on all lego purchases, so I ended up buying the Millennium Falcom and only paying 50$ for it, not a bad deal.
I also just finished buying all series 1 minifigures from Bricklink, let God have mercy on my soul and (wallet)

I thought they were 2013 sets?

Which holiday set would you recommend? Winter village bakery, winter village post office, or winter village cottage? Either of the first two seem a bit more interesting as a scene, and would go nicely with the free set you get this weekend

The bakery is the oldest of those, so this may be the last year it's available. The Winter Village Toy Shop was one year older, and it was discontinued after last Christmas.

It has been the trend that sets for the new year start leaking out to stores around Thanksgiving. This year, because of the Hobbit sets also being released in December, that leak became more of a flood.

As for the Winter Village sets - the bakery all the way, because you get a cool skating pond. It would also integrate well with the 2012 Holiday set. And, as it has been mentioned, it is the oldest of the currently available sets, which means it will be going OOP by the end of this year.

BTW, they did not have the rest of the Galaxy Squad line in yet, nor did they have certain City sets like the Museum Robbery, nor the new Creator House. Those will all start trickling in (along with Ninjago, Chima, TMNT, Super Heroes and Star Wars) over the next month or so.

I just want to know what sets, besides the rumored mediocre list, will be on sale tonight. Grr. Spill it!

And I am now almost completely caught up on my back catalog of sets I want to own. All that remains is the SSD. After that, it is just new sets and the occasional old set that I might want but am not salivating for.

Finished the Winter Cottage. Really fun build, though the piece count make you think it's a lot more than it is. There are a LOT of tiny pieces (eg. The kitchen is tiled with a bunch of 1x1 flat tiles) Still fun though, and I look forward to setting up my small table tree and putting it next to it. Little disappointed that there is no back wall.

I might try to mod the top of the chimney to look more "traditional" so that I can put the series 8 Santa figure on top.

Here's a good deal from Walmart. 2 sets for $29. Depending on what you get, it comes out to 40% off. I ended up getting the 2 Walmart exclusive sets: Landspeeder and Fangpyre Mech.

Set 1

8092-Luke's Landspeeder
9496-Desert Skiff
3648-Police Chase

Set 2

6867-Loki's Cosmic Cube
9591-Ninjago Weapon Pack
9442-Jay's Stormfighter
9455-Fangpyre Mech
9470-Shelob Attacks

Thanks for posting that deal! I wasn't really shopping today, but that deal is really good so I picked up he same sets as you! :)

That is a great question. The keep on pushing the first round results back - I want that Western modular!!!

I want that Rifter. Though EVE has many much cooler looking ships... EDIT i reckon Rifter won't make it through though. Kinda UCS ship, i think, EVE sets wouldn't make good play sets, i think, too many ships. Only ships.

I just looked it up - the Summer Review deadline was June 4th, so it has been almost 6 months since the first batch entered review, with nothing to show for it. The third batch will be entering review in a couple weeks, and so far we have seen no tangible results from LEGO, save for the Japan-only CUUSOO alpha stage that had 1,000 vote requirements and extremely short turn-around, and the Minecraft set, which was more due to the constant pressure from its fans and the support of Notch.

I'm starting to wonder if CUUSOO is actually going to manifest into anything more at this point, or whether it will go the way of LEGO Universe as another project that was grand in scope but poor in execution.

While I am ranting, I've recieved 2 Black Friday emails from B&N, 4 from Walmart and 4 from TRU so far today... and zero from LEGO, even though they have been sending out emails all week, stating that "Exclusive Brick Friday Offers Coming Soon".

OK, I'm done venting.

B&N deal will be good. If my math is right I can get Vampyre Castle and Sith Fury together for a hair over $100.

Someone on the Toys N Bricks forum emailed LEGO about the lousy deals this year, and got this response back:

Just ignore the rumours and have a look online tomorrow!
I hope there will be something special for you and you will not be disappointed.

We always try out best to keep our customers happy, also during Black Friday.

So maybe there's still hope!

Maturity, bitches.
Heard nothing from Lego so I'm assuming Brick Friday will be identical to the VIP preview, except now I have the advantage of £5 off. Lets see if an £85 Fire Station is possible.

I'll have to break my vows on spending if the half-price minifigs actually happen. My spending restriction was limited to personal purchases- meaning gifts are exempt. I'll buy a fistful to gift to family and throw in a few for myself while I'm at it.

If the rumors were bull it doesn't matter though.

I had been clean since February (damn you tested.com) but I broke down when the black friday preview happened.

don't ask me for codes
This popped up just now:

Spend 30 EUR/25 GBP Get Free Shipping
Spend 75 EUR/50 GBP Get Exclusive Christmas Set
Spend 125 EUR/100 GBP Get 10% Off

Unfortunately the Christmas Set is not available for the Netherlands (apparently only USA/Canada/UK/Germany/France/Denmark), so excuse me if I flip a table.

I don't see any other special discounts - this Brick Friday thing is only for North America I assume?

Yeah, I checked the Lego page and it's the same thing, though it lasts until Monday despite being called Brick Friday.

It'll take me about an hour to get there by bus just to spend a few minutes buying Lego. HA HA.

I need to get the last Monster Fighters set - Vampyre Castle. Anyone think they'll be any Black Friday deals on it?

Use the BN coupon posted in here. Many stores still have it in store, and you can use the 30% off coupon on it. All their non Architecture stuff is going to be B1G1 50% tomorrow only. If there are no major sales on Lego.com tonight, I plan on hitting my local BN for Vampyre Castle and something else. Possibly Sith Fury.

EDIT: Target has the Black Pearl in store for $75 right now. In store only.

Wow,R2 for 140 from Amazon is crazy! I have it in my checkout but I'm tempted to get the Imperial Shuttle for 230.00. ARGH!

As good a deal as R2D2 is, I would jump on the Imperial Shuttle first. Shuttle is a goner, while R2 is only 6 months old. You have time on R2.

And wait on the Shuttle until midnight. Lego might (if we are lucky) discount it to clear it out. Even if they dont mark it down more, it will be 10% off at midnight. And you get VIP. Only a hair more than Amazon has it.

Shoot. I know for a fact our B&N has a very tiny LEGO selection, and they dont care the Monster Fighter series :(

Really hope LEGO.com steps up their game with BF deals

Yeah that's what I was thinking,Shuttle is now or never. I didn't know about the Lego.com sale so I guess I'll wait 2 1/2 more hours and see what they're offering.

Go into your local store and have them look up the set in their computer. They can see if any other stores in the area have it in stock. They can then call them and hold it so you can use the coupon and take advantage of the deal. I am lucky here because the store at the mall near me got rid of their music department years ago and replaced it with a toy section with a decent sized Lego area.

At the minimum with the Lego sale, you will get 10% off the Shuttle. It will be 10% off orders of $150 or more and free shipping plus the free holiday set. That is the MINIMUM you will get with it. So it may wind up being a few bucks more than Amazon at the most, but you get the exclusive set.

And it is only 1 1/2 hours. Sale goes live at midnight EST.

No, I am not counting down.
