ZombiU |OT| Zombi Emergency! WiiU WiiU WiiU WiiU

So, is there a definite "respawn rate" for zombies? I'm outside Buckingham Palace and there's random zombies that just appear. I'm mainly worried about staying too long in one place to explore if more Zs can show up and kill me.

I've died so many times.

I'm not sure how it works specifically, but it seems that if you die fighting a horde.. even if you're down to the last couple.. more will spawn when you come back. So I'm not sure if you can thin out numbers that way. Seems like back tracking to some areas zombies have repopulated though.

I am loving this game! Im glad that most reviewers are seeing the game for what it really is. That Gamespot 4.5/10 is just plain ridiculous!

Same here. It has exceeded my expectations. I seriously wanted to wait out the Wii-U for a while, but this made the console release exciting for me, which in turn has made the entire launch a really positive experience. It would be unfair to expect the elegant D.Souls combat from anyone else, but the sense of parrying with melee and the penalties for death giving you a reason to tread patiently isn't that far off in terms of being somewhat reminiscent enough to reference.

Yup you have to delete your save. I'm ok with that myself.

Yup, I'm cool with only having one save slot per difficulty level. Will stop me from 'cheating' by staggering multiple saves...although the main reason why I do that is to prevent a showstopper from ruining a lengthy playthrough. I've done that where possible on all games since a lengthy playthrough of the PS1 SKU of the first playthrough was buggered by a corrupt memory card. I wasn't a happy bunny lol.

Time really is dragging...can't believe Friday is so far away!!!

I tried starting this game out in Survivor and panicked after leaving the Supermarket, losing my first game. I had some close calls before that as well.

Is it easy to use the mines without blowing up? I don't want to screw up a Survivor run using one the wrong way. I also can't use the pistol effectively at all.

So before I do that, I'm gonna load up my character with all the weapons I have in the storage box, then die. So maybe I can contribute to someone else's game ;)
A true hero...
:bow

So how many difficulty setting are in the game? Easy, normal and survivor? Is anyone playing on easy?

I'm kinda worried about the announcement of the german version. Game is supposed to be completely uncut, but the easy mode is missing and will be patched in later, whatever that means. I want to pick up the game on friday morning, but don't want a gimped version. Any insight for me here US GAF?

Lol, just like the Witcher 2 and Dark Souls lololol

Dude that guy doesn't understand ZombiU at all. In his last video he blately says he doesnt need a stupid flare, then gets pissed when he thinks the game is expecting him to take out 3 zombies with his cricket bat. Guys playing it like Jo Blow action game... lol

Amusing but damn...

Also how do you activate easy mode. I didn't see it when I booted my game up. I only see normal and survivor.

Just beat the game. Really really great. I wish the messaging system was more like Demons Souls though

The ending was pretty terrible though. I too want to know what the twist was.

Good God this game is amazing. I was hyped for it, but even I didn't believe it would be quite this good. The amount of tension is outstanding, and dying really means something, especially when you have quite a few upgrades and whatnot.

Also, I don't think I've ever felt quite as much dread as this game made me feel when I was in the middle of
mowing down a zombie flood with a turret gun...only to have it run out of bullets and zombies are still flowing over toward you like water. My goodness, that was a terrible feeling and I barely made it out of there. I ran like crazy and jumped on top of a cargo container far away and slowly took a select few out so I could get to a specific door
.

That was a little too stressful

Man, these late game areas are pretty terrifying.
The Arena, in particular. I'm a pretty good shot but up until this point I've been baiting individual zombies as much as I can, so being forced into battle with this many zombies at the same time is extremely nerve-wracking. My heart is pounding lol, and Im not done yet!

Lol, I doubt you were as bad as me. I ran forward into the
burning room
and trapped myself. Ended up killing myself with a Molotov, haha.

Almost IDENTICAL to what I did.

I ran into that room and got stuck between the flame and wall...and had a SWAT fucker on me and some bitch. More were coming in and something bit me from behind lol.

Fuuuuck.

In the inevitable sequel...this is all I want.

ONLINE CO-OP.

Even if it's just one partner...you start together, and the same set up exists (unlimited lives via new characters) only you don't spawn in a safe house every time and you lose all connection with your partner. So you're forced to find each other and can leave messages for each other on walls and whatnot.

Basically you can fight together, but if one dies and the other gets away, you're now looking for each other which is terrifying because you don't know if that thing running at you is a zombie or your buddy.

Could be awesome.

Wait, so its actually a good idea to smash dead body heads just in case?
I've been doing it since the beginning of the game, but it doesn't seem to matter. If the zombie is still alive then it'll come to life as you approach it. If not, and you're allowed to loot it, then it's safe to assume it's dead.

If you do decide to do it, don't do the same mistake I did of whacking a body with a gas canister on it. -_-

Edit: Anyone come across dead player survivors? As in, players that didn't get infected but committed suicide somehow (I.e. bad Molotov throw, etc). I'm curious whether suicide bodies show up in other player games as well, or if it has to be infected.

Finally putting more than an hour at a time into this, playing hard. Got a lot of gear, basically at the point where the second I find an item to heal with I instantly use it out of desperation, and I have good gear...

I am petrified of dying because I have good gear.

So I am walking and see a bunch of sad faces, arrows, and zombies spraypainted anywhere... I hit the home menu and took a break. This is intense, at points I was sweating and I screamed "Fuck Shit" over a damn bird that startled me. Holy shit

NO! Co-Op doesn't make everything better!

Zombi2 like this, Other horror game from this dev (fund the shit out of them) designed from the ground up for Co-Op play as well.

I just hope the team doesnt lose focus on what made ZombiU good for the sequel. Also, anyone trying to leave coherent message symbols, and not just randomness? Would be nice if you could thumbs up a message and not just "dont trust" it.

I usually just try to make it simple, like "Left arrow - Disk icon" for save room. Or "thumbs down - Light Off" if Zombies are close and will be alerted. It took me awhile to actually get used to it though. I thought was all wackiness at first lol

I just beat survivor!

I am number 2 on the leader board now.

I missed out on 1st place by about 200 points. Doesn't burn at all though because I am just happy did it.

Congrats!

I'm really just getting started in the normal mode of the game and just lost my first survivor rather early on. The game is so tense as is, can't imagine what it must be like during that last hour or so on survivor mode.

Way to go! I just let my 8th survivor die... well replace Let by
having 9 zombies orgy over my corpse in Buckingham while hunting down the library

Its funny... I still don't find the game fun but I can't stop playing. Scares the living shit out of me... Survivor mode would terrify me after a certain point

There hasn't been much talk about the story. Is it safe to assume that it's nothing worth writing about?
This is one of those games that's very much about escalating, impersonal situations and getting the beef on some backstories by looking around. The dialogue is excellent though, the Prepper has a lot of great lines.

It is mostly world building. It is post apocalyptic, there just aren't that many people to talk to and
the people who talk to you you can't talk back to
so there isn't MUCH story, but there is a tonne of exposition into the world and the history.

As more is fleshed out (at least at my point in the game) you get a fantastic story set in excellent game told in an interesting storytelling style.

Cool, thanks for the impressions. I love a good zombie story so I was curious.

How can you say no to that? It's not forced co-op, but the option is there.

There would be the ability to do it solo, and then multi if you wanted.

Win-win. More perceived value to the purchase.

Just beat it. Loved every minute. I haven't gotten that kind of tension out of a game in an enjoyable way for years.

Totally agree. I'm near the end (I assume) but I'm actually looking forward to going through this again knowing what I learned the first time through.

Congrats, how long did it take you..?

Am planning on completing both Normal and Survival Mode with the crosshairs turned off when I get it lol

Having a few zombies
suddenly climb a damn ladder after you
is enough to make you shit yourself when you thought you were in a safe zone.

Side note: How many of you have messed with the Zombify Cam? For some reason, I really can't help but making zombie moans when I'm doing it. I bet my neighbors were probably thinking some weird shit last night at like 3am.

Nice, congrats! I had hopes that I could do it after Normal but after dying 3 consecutive times at the same spot late in the game, I'm not so sure ill fare too well in Survivor. I'll give it a shot though.

Well done. Big Yeah! I am definitely not ready for a serious Survivor run yet. And I doubt I will ever be 2nd Place ready. Congrats!

So scanning the message automatically gives it a thumbs down? I've been wondering about that.

No, after scanning if you click the button on the touch screen (top right) it'll mark it as Don't Trust. If you click it again, you'll take the Don't Trust away.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
I'm not even going to tell you guys how terrible I am at this game.

My survivor count is embarrassing.

Really digging it.
