Superbot still alive, seemingly hiring for new PSASBR

This is true, but they seems to have learned the lesson hard and fast. They gave a lot of their best devs a chance, it didn't work out and Sony decided to part ways.

*David Jaffe created two big IP's for Sony for two generations in a row, they gave him a chance, it didn't work out. Sony cutback on the studio, I have no idea what's going on with EatSleepPlay

*They gave Insomniac a chance on PS3, funding multiple Ratchet games and the Resistance franchise, it didn't work out and Sony cut back on the relationship, Insomniac went to EA (I doubt Sony will give them the $$ for a new IP on PS4)

*They have Warhawk dev a chance with Starhawk, the game sucked ass, they killed the contract with the company.

*Studio Liverpool - again, given multiple chances on PS2, PSP, PS3 and Vita, the games sucked and didn't sell, the studio had no vision, as a result the studio was terminated

*Zipper - became a copycat developer, the games got mediocre reviews - studio terminated

LBP Karting, Wonderbook, The Sorcery game, Sly 4...they are trying to appeal to the younger crowd and doesn't seem to be working out for them. Maybe it's the poor marketing, maybe PS3 is too expensive...who knows? I am not a marketing guy.

The only Insomniac game I have played is Resistance 3 and it was not a good shooter. It was generic, it felt like a mix-mash of different games, it wasn't engaging, the multiplayer was terrible....it was just a generic "me too" shooter. Not as bad as the Darkness 2 but nothing good either.

Hahahaha, this is hilarious.

Good for them.

First game nailed the core gameplay, now they just need to seriously polish it the f up, add new modes, and improve, improve, improve.

I'm hoping this is an example of a game that starts off small and then simply builds up. I hope the best for the IP, I enjoy it a lot

Nope. Still needs to fix a lot of stuff, hell it's still not late and they can change the concept of "supers only doing points".

That guy's crazy don't listen to him. IIRC he was saying Liverpool was a junk studio back in the thread where we learned they were shut down.

I typed that accidentally, Studio Liverpool's games didn't suck at all! I actually loved their first Wipeout game on PSP, I spent a lot of time on it, didn't like Wipeout HD as much but still :)

And no, I didn't say anything bad in that thread Takao

Either Sony didn't make them an offer they couldn't refuse or they straight out refused to feature her in such a game. Its more plausible the offer wasn't enough, since everything points out to PSASBR being a low budget game. Anyway, the Lara this game wouldve gotten was probably Lara 2013 and not childhood Lara.

Sounds rather close minded - being in such a game should be considered win-win scenario for both parties since both of them get free advertising from it.

I dont know if R3 was successful, but I hear nothing but praise for its SP. Too bad they screwed the MP, but truth is, it never had the starpower to finance another big MP component, probably.

Starhawk looks so blah, disliked the demo a lot, no idea why they didnt go with Warhawk 2, such a great game.

I like Studio Liverpool, what's wrong with them? The Wipeout games are great, were they not successful?

If I'm not mistaken, Zipper received a lot of pressure from higher ups to change their game, which is seriously annoying. If Sony could just give this game to the proper team... It's clearly their best MP title with good weight behind it.

Also, I enjoy Twisted Metal, but it's too bad that they borked the online AND SP. Sony does seem to be weighed down by these games, but it seems the actual development is also as much a problem as it is the advertising/appeal.

I doubt it their team mostly consists of Fighting game dudes.

IIRC They already said that PSASBR started off as a capture the flag game and they would like to eventually make different types of games in that vein after the fighting game. PSAS could just be the name of their IP in which they compile their characters to do different things. That being said I don't see how they could make anything that would sell at retail price without being bundled.

Why do people dig into Sony so much over unsuccessful IPs? I don't see Nintendo get it over Kirby, Kid Icarus, Last Story, Xenoblade, Excitetruck etc.

At the end of the day after all these terminations, Sony is in a better position IMO. They need to focus and not get ahead of themselves. ATM they have a 5 or 6 great studios with them, they need to fund them to the max and get into a good rhythm of releasing an epic PS4 game every 6 months or so.

There's so much wrong in his post. It's funny how he called R3 a generic me-too shooter. It couldn't be more different from all the other CoD copycats.

I never liked CoD...those games are probably worse than Resistance 3.

Hire more people, thereby making your future game even more expensive, when you certainly lost money on the one and only game you've ever made?

Yup, Sony product!

Claiming they lost money without any knowledge how much was invested or how big the budget was.

You're the clearest definition of an armchair analyst.

PABR is a good start riddled with stupid drawbacks. Please make the next game in the vein of Marvel vs Capcom. PLZ SUPERBOT!!!!!!!

I agree. I'd much prefer something set up like the Marvel vs. Capcom series.

The game should mostly focus on two characters on the screen at a time--that way, the characters can be large, detailed, and really demonstrate a lot of expression and personality. You could still have teams of 2 or 3 characters on a side, so you could tag in a teammate, call an assist, and all that--but the majority of the action would be one-on-one.

If they go to that format, then also get rid of the "only supers can KO" thing, and use the traditional health bar system like most Capcom, SNK, Sega, Namco, etc. fighting games do. I want to feel like I'm fully involved in the fight from start to finish. PSASBR with some of its high-level "insta-win" supers makes it feel "cheap" when I get hit with a super by an opponent, and unrewarding when I execute one myself. A fighting game should make all participants work for every victory--that way, success feels truly satisfying.

I don't mean to be a negative ninny (again)

But why does Sony keep releasing sequels to stuff noone wants? By 'noone' i mean the general public.

Who asked for Resistance 3 & Burning Skies?
Who asked for Killzone: Mercenary?
Who asked for another SOCOM?

Whats next MAG 2? Another Twisted Metal? LBP Karting 2? Heavenly Sword 2?

Burning Skies and Mercenary are sequels now?

Really, with all the mechanics in the game, it definitely should shift towards that framework. If they really want to go for a 2D arena fighter they should've based their work in Narutimate Hero if they are so intending to put traditional fighter mechanics in the game.

With that said even if they change the framework if it still relies on super for points it's pretty stupid still.

They were unsuccessful?

And generally speaking they are more of a legacy.

Kirby and Kid Icarus do pretty well for themselves and Last Story is the best selling game XSeed has ever released. Xenoblade did pretty well and the Excite series is probably done.

I would want a marvel-ish game just so that people can complain that Sony is making a fan-service game that caters only to the hardcore niche group.

Despite PSA being total shit, I have faith that they can learn from their (many) mistakes and try to fix the game. It's a good concept at least.

Since when is Kirby unsuccessful? And Kid Icarus did fine for a franchise with only 3 releases if I am not mistaken.
This is exactly the spin I expected. Those games don't sell any better than the likes of Twsited Metal for example. Why the totally different attitude / excuses?

I don't know how you say that's more likely. Did you miss the no in caps with an exclamation mark as if he felt insulted?

Maybe he was insulted at how low the offer was.

Though I could see how it would be insulting when looking at the other 3rd party characters. New Dante, MGR Raiden and Big Daddy. It is pretty much the B list.

In favor of setting Muslim women on fire
i wish they made the game more TVC style 2 on 2, not exactly marvel but, just more in that direction

They got great combo and stage ideas.

and the game as it is , is a terrible spectator game.
