Superbot still alive, seemingly hiring for new PSASBR

According to the PSN Store, PSASBR was the second-most downloaded full retail game in November, behind ACIII. So, who knows... maybe not so bad? I also wouldn't be surprised if Sony is counting on the game having legs, especially with their DLC strategy.

They are guaranteed kills. The only time you will miss one is when you actually set yourself to be lazy.

I can find too.
I seem to have struck a chord by being positive about a Nintendo game in a Sony thread. All I did was defend a game from what I deemed unfair criticism. I've been a junior for around 6 months at this point and hovered around far longer. I've seen numerous threads about controls and Kid Icarus Uprising manages to make it as quite a few people's "most intuitive" or "best" controls as well as "worst."
I don't want to derail the thread at this point so if you really have a problem with my statement I guess I'm sorry? I only came in here to express my happiness that PSAS is getting a sequel and then found something I disagreed with on the way.

It seems more like it's this game being too touchy towards many people rather than another game really. I'm surprised someone always bringing "well I don't have fond memories of Nintendo games since NES" in an unrelated topic, for instance.

Topic went exactly how I expected it to go by some of the same people I expected to make an appearance. I'm not gonna even say anything else i'm tired of arguing with people that may not even have played the game.

Nice news, i'm really enjoying the gameplay and kudos on the crossplat netcode.

First outing was good ala Smash Bros 64.
They really need to up the ante in the interface and presentation and make it great ala SSBM (Better storymode, more good characters, amazing music). Also, more mashup stages!

Smashbut pls

Why the hell would Capcom develop that when they can do their own games, make them multiplatform and get more money? Your suggestion is completely ridiculous. And the people making Capcom's fighting games nowadays have only been working on them for a few years, so no, they haven't been making them for 25 years.

SuperBot have some smart people there that have done a quality job with the gameplay, there's no reason at all to get rid of them, especially if the intent is to continue making fighting games.

All I am saying is that instead of taking a risk in fostering new talent that may not deliver, why not go to the specialists in the field and work with them to create an exclusive franchise.

Tell that to Fat Princess players everywhere.

Hmm okay, you got a point, but it seems to be mostly due to stage layout than anything else, and iirc she can move around while her minions toss items right? Maybe she should take a page from Dedede...

Yeah I'd love more stages that were actually pretty good only to be ruined by an annoying gimmick.

For the love of God, no.

The stages themselves are the gimmicks. It's a horrendous idea that was poorly executed. Go down franchises -- not across them.

I wonder if this will be a "proper sequel" for next gen or closer to what Dissidia Duodecim was. Basically it could be more like an expansion rather than recreating anything. Just take everything from PSASBR+DLC, slap a bunch of new characters, stages and items, redo UI and voila: you got yourself a sequel with even smaller budget, dev time and still keeping the fans pleased. I dunno if they can justify a sequel created from ground up if the sales are as bad as they seem.

Thay already have some DLC planned. They'll probably just create more DLC and realease a SUPER/refresh version next year with better menus, etc.

Awesome! The game had potential, but it seemed it was short on time to have all its details being done. Hopefully a more fleshed out story is used next time around.

I could probably get the job if I wasn't a damn drop out :lol

Try anyway! Sometimes they value passion more than qualifications.

Like I said, some (not all, screw you Time Station!) the stages as they are are fine. They then are ruined by an annoying "let's show this entry from another game" shit that ruins a rather nice stage.

To this day I haven't seen a single fat princess player online thats unleashed a level 3. Probably the only level 3 I haven't witnessed by another player.

Some are but others like Kratos that I mentioned aren't. But at the same time they pretty much are guaranteed because they're so geared to be ultra powerful. I know people say it's possible to dodge it but I've never seen it happen yet (talking about Kratos specifically here).

True. They have much better earlier supers than higher levels feel ignorable.

With that said any form of cutscene super in a game with more than 1 enemy is terrible. Captain Falcon did it terribly, anyone else did it terribly.

I've dodged Kratos' level 3 multiple times during the beta with almost no experience at the game.

In FFA you'll probably always get at least 1-2 kills but I've played multiple games with a partner in 2v2 where we completely dodged Kratos lvl 3

The kratos player in the gif didn't use his sword projectile but that one can be air-dodged (dodge mid-air and you get invincible frames)

Kratos level 3 is only good in FFA. In a controlled setting (1v1, 2v2) it can be dodged consistently. Beside, you have to be an idiot to go for a level 3 in anything outside FFA (generally speaking). You can get guarantee kill setups once you get level 2 considering the space control it has.

Where did this game's budget estimates come from? Just people speculating based on the fact it feels low budget? Sony Pictures shows that this company will burn money and not all of it will end up on screen, lol.

That's why there was big change there this year and one 2013 movie they had to give up to paramount and the other they had to give up international rights to fox.

This is surprising after All Stars going mega-bomba. Okay Superbot, so you don't fail again, here are some characters you need to research to add on top of the existing roster for the sequel:

First Party

- Wander
- Ico
- Dart
- Rau Utu
- Robbit
- Alundra
- Arc
- Blasto
- Jeanne d'Arc
- Patapon
- Jen Tate
- Congar
- Demon's Souls Knight
- Journey's Robed Figure
- Puppeteer's Kutaro
- Beyond's Jodie Holmes
- Togera
- Jaster Rogue
- Chimera
- Vahn
- Gabe Logan
- Rudy Roughnight
- Virginia Maxwell
- Legend of Dragoon's Rose
- Folklore's Ellen

Third Party

- Cloud Strife
- Sephiroth
- Solid Snake
- Crash Bandicoot
- Spyro
- Tomba
- Kazama Kiryu
- Batman
- Jin Kazama
- Goku

Pick 22 of them and get to work. Considering you managed 20 in the initial game, it shouldn't be too hard to add another 22. There's enough potential there for various styles. Sony has enough colourful characters to be used in a game like this so go and actually research them instead of just the obvious choices.

And please hire someone to fix the shitty presentation of the game. Also, add more modes, general content and mini-games that are a throwback to some of the characters own games. For example, add a bowling game or a target practice game. Just the idea of these characters doing stuff like that is amusing. Tekken Tag had a bowling game which was awesome. Just add random stuff like this. The game is about fan service.

Hire someone who knows what they're doing to handle online. Host leaves and it just ends the match? So when the host is losing, he just quits every fucking time. Not to mention the awful net code that still isn't fixed post-patch. Worst purchase of the year for me since I paid 60 bucks for this trash. I'm a stone cold sucker.

Against new players they can be, but some level 3s are very possible to avoid getting hit by, especially 1v1. Personally I avoid letting Evil Cole get to level 3. His projectile is slow, and his vertical beam is easy to avoid. The magnetic pull don't seem to be that helpful.

Great, with some roster improvements and a little more care put into it the game could be really good. I see a lot of potential in how well they fleshed out each of the fighters. Each one feels very unique, and like they should. Looking forward to seeing what they can do the second time around.

Fantastic to hear, if they make a new one for Orbis, and really up the fan service / unlockable stuff, it'd make a great title to have out near launch.

Give me weird barely seen commercials, and just pack it with info and fan service. All Stars was great, but the PlayStation stuff sometimes felt perfunctory. This time, make it the core of the game.

Also make a fun single player component. Or at least tie it together well like MK did.

On gamasutra profile it says that they have 85 employees and they are having 9 new job openings.
I know PSAS probably didn't cost a lot and sequel can't cost that much more but it is weird. Game didn't seel from what a can tell and yet they are hirring people. It could be just to replace people over at SSM that was helping them so that they can focus on other things but it is a bit strange.

Sony also does a very smart thing with these sort of games that underperform- they bundle them to no end. I remember All 4 One selling around 500k last year just thanks to the Black Friday bundle. Having a copy of PSAS with every new PS3 could be a very smart move and could at least off set the development costs somewhat.

I hope they make some sort of Sony's Kingdom Hearts. It would be far more interesting then this imo.
If they can get some 3rd party characters....but without Disney it would probably suck
