Can't buy it any more.

Valve statement:

From time to time a mistake can be made and one was made by prematurely issuing a copy of War Z for sale via Steam. We apologize for this and have temporary removed the sale offering of the title until we have time to work with the developer and have confidence in a new build. Those who purchase the game and wish to continue playing it via Steam may do so. Those who purchased the title via Steam and are unhappy with what they received may seek a refund by creating a ticket at our support site here.

thank you based garry

As you all know we launched the game on Steam yesterday. Okay - we're number one top grossing game on Steam right now - thank you guys for your support.

At the same time it was clear that there were a number of customers that felt that information about the game was presented in a way that could have allowed for multiple interpretations.

We've taken steps to correct this and format information presented on our Steam Store page in a way so it provides more clear information about game features that are present in the Foundation Release and what to expect in the coming weeks.

We also want to extend our apologies to all players who misread infromation about game features.

At the end of the day our goal is to serve our players as best as we can, and we love when you guys steer us into the right way of doing it !

Thank you for playing The War Z !

Seriously, everyone that (foolishly) bought this on Steam should be refunded and the devs should get nothing.

Translation: Thanks for calling us out you piece of shit consumers.

I was really surprised Valve let The War Z onto Steam with the shape the game is in. Is Valve going to refund everyone who wants their money back? It is just as much their fault for allowing the game to be sold.

not sure why it made it onto steam in the first place
From the forbes article

Many people are criticizing Valve for what is obviously an unfinished product showing up in their store. The problem appears to be a simple one. Because the game’s publisher had a game on Steam previously, their new titles can skip the review process, giving The War Z a free pass through the back door.

"We’re contacting Valve to see if there’s official word on what’s up."

Lets wait and see!

Again, we apologize any inconvenience.”

Good to hear. But it never should have bypassed Greenlight or been sold in its current state anyway.

AFAIK, the money Valve receives from new game purchases doesn't get transferred to the publisher immediately.

So it's possible Hammerpoint haven't received a single penny yet. If so, I hope Valve hold all funds as part of a refund/potential lawsuit warchest.

They need to send an explicitly clear message to publishers/developers that misleading product information will not be tolerated.

Justice is served for now. I wonder what they will do to try and lift this ban? I don't think anyone is going to take WarZ or the developers seriously anymore....at least I hope not.

Christmas came early! :p Hopefully this is a wake up call to Valve to pay closer attention to the games they release on their service.
