i love how it looks, but still it seems too small to actually pack enough power, and from the picture i cannot see an easy way to open the think and change the components

haha. i may just skip the ouya and get this instead. its tiny, so i'll be able to get emulation/media box AND steam support. love it.

Well, this is certainly embarrassing.

That makes, uh, three (?) of at least five (?) "next gen" consoles (Wii U, Ouya, Steambox) not super beast behemoths in the hardware department.

What is the market for this?!

EDIT: This is based on the premise that nothing that small could be exceptionally powerful, so feel free to correct if wrong.

Xi3 also announced today it has received an investment from Valve Corporation

This should really be bolded in the OP. This isn't just some random company making a small PC that happens to play Steam games, Valve is very much directly involved in this.

I'm assuming this is the steambox.

Obviously not as hyped up as everyone was making it out to be, I'm interested in price/specs. My computer is getting pretty old and if they can offer a good package I'd bite into it.

edit: nvm saw the link, taking a look into it.

Mini? Small form could be awesome. But that looks more 'tiny'.

Maybe Steam is launching a range of basically Steam branded stuff?

EDIT: Yeah fucking tiny, update this in the OP please:(EDIT2: Thanks)

My smaller form prediction is coming sooner quicker than I thought...and not through Windows...
This is odd.

Is Steam making its Source games Linux and nothing else? :/

Is that picture the actual machine they are talking about, or did they simply take an existing machine that this company sales and slap "Steam" on it because the real machine hasn't been shown? Serious question, btw.
