Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
8 for DmC? While Edge aren't as discerning as they used to be, that gives me faint hope.

Mojang above Nintendo EAD?

can we maybe start admitting edge isn't that good now? not even talking about this issue in particular, but every recent one that came before it. the quality has definitely dropped in the past few years.

They could have used actual metrics to make this developer list like the Develop 100 does, instead, they turn it in to a 'devs we are best chums with' list.

One game should not make you #2. Give me a break.

That's what I was thinking... Even more when you are one step ahead of the dudes who made Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario 3d Land and NSMBU
And Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and the last 3 Animal Crossing, yep I love all of those.

I added the 50, I have nothing better to do atm.

No obsidian either.

Thanks. That list looks more like a "let's compile 50 random good and popular games and list their developers", honestly.

It's just so random.

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
2. Mojang
3. Nintendo EAD

There is no God. Holy lol, I'm not the guy that "picks apart" lists...I know Mojang and Minecraft are ludicrously successful but in what world does one game make you "a better developer" compared to say Nintendo EAD? Surely there has to be some reasoning behind it.

I'm just looking at that list trying to figure out how its possible to come to that conclusion about the best devs. They don't make sense even when you take into account the tech and creativity points.

I wonder what criteria they've gone with? Do they have a summary in the magazine.

Seems to be a mixture of influence, creativity and quality...which means...its not really a bad list tbh.

I think that Valve is an incredible company, but are they really #1 developer?

Mojang is cool in my book, but not long enough in the game to be #2 - they have 1 smash hit out, and Riot games is the same - what the hell were the priorities when creating this list? Revenue or actual game developing skill?

I still think that Nintendo EAD destroys everybody when it comes to create actual games - yes, they've been playing it safe for the last games, but I think they'll prove with their next big Wii U game why they have the best reputation among developers. I think they are the most capable on that list.

Oh, and seeing PlatinumGames at #4 compensates the fact that CD Project RED is missing from that list.

EDGE.. mhm.

I know it looks very much like that UE4 shot, but is there an outside chance the preview page could be for Just Cause 3? Surely we're gonna start hearing about next-gen-targeted games sooner or later, if they're launching this year?

Opinions, opinions.

I agree with Valve being up there, but let's be honest they haven't been much of a dev in recent years. Where's our HL3?

No, because then Rockstar would have been #1 and Nintendo EAD wouldn't have made the top 50. No one is "chums" with EAD.

I have to admit though, that's a weird list, but I'm eager to read the actual article.

To me it looks like they only took account of influence. And I really don't think you can say a "most influential developers list" is strictly a "world's greatest developers list".

On an unrelated note, they put Naughty Dog so high in the list, while never losing a chance to shit on Uncharted. Random.org confirmed.

Telltale is on the list... So apparently you can be one of the greatest developers if your games have lots of technical issues, you don't patch your games and your customer support is laughable.

A lot of those dev shouts are ridiculous.

343? Halo 4 was great, but come on, one game?

Playdead? Again one game? Limbo was sweet, but hmm.

And Mojang at 2? Again, one game?

One product isn't enough to judge the talent of any creator.

I came in for Monolith and leave disappointed.

Having created one of the best RPGs of the generation and seemingly surpassed everything the Wii was supposed to be capable of on a technical level, and not found anywhere.

Then you have Telltale, who - everyone here on GAF seems to agree - have an absolutely terrible game engine, are on there.

Maybe I just put too much weight on actual game development when I think of good developers.

A agree on 2 place.

They did spark gaming market with increbible title which is constantly updated played by milions of people and what really matter it is very very very very creative title. Litelary it is as good game as your imagination. It's like they discovered lego again.

Sure it is one game but it is the one big fucking game and constantly upgraded.

Also this list sorely lacks Obsidian and CDPR
