Gran Turismo 5 Spec II |OT| - We Love DLC!

Right, first try-out, credits to SunhiLegend for the tip to make this possible.

The first one (SLS) is with no zoom, so stanmdard view. The timing is a little bit off between screens and the angle of the screens is way off. I guess I need to tilt the screen, just don't know how yet....

The second (NSX) one is zoom 1, or close(r) view. Timing is a tiny bit off, and the angle is still way off. The overlap is much better though.

Need to work on it, maybe a replay with facetracking might be a better option?!

That really only happens in SSR, no idea why too.

Because HDMI range of RGB.

I am not near my console ATM but I vaguely remember it can be solved by changing either RGB Full Range (HDMI) to Limited or Full and/or something regarding Deep Color/Colour Output (HDMI).

You change something there and the "white dots pixelization" disappear pretty much (not in full).

IMO It has to do with the way how graphics engine at night tracks is handling HDR effects (read: lack of RAM lead to another magical shortcut, same as alpha-effects).

It is more prevalent at plasma screens (I am plasma owner) while many of my LCD-friends have never actually experienced it (at least they didn't know what I was talking about back at the time we were trying to *solve* that issue).

What the hell, I never had anything like that. oO

I had dithering like that on SSR near the lamps but that's it.

How can you even capture that anyway? Aren't HDMI settings something that happens after the game render?

Assuming custom firmware on the PS3, but never seen that effect while playing I guess I'm not paying enough attention?

Tried the two HDMI ranges:

Limited = white dots:

Full = waves:

I see this on my tv depending on setting but it's never looked that bad, though the noise pattern changes every frame so it's not as obvious in motion.

Yes I've wondered about that, It's like instead of the old 15bit dithering like on PSP etc, they're doing 24bit (or 30bit) dithering with some sort of tone mapping or other process afterwards for the exposure. The bayer matrix would be randomised each frame so it looks more like random grain than ordered dithering (but the repeating pattern ruins it). I might be totally off here but the general idea is about avoiding floating point rendering.

In other news, dat drift trial around Suzuka East was fun, never tried that before, I used the '66 Jaguar.

Tokyo Auto Salon has kicked off today, I wonder if we'll get any DLC details out of it? It seems that they're showing some 15th Anniversary video there, but I can't tell if it's just a compilation of the intro clips or something created specifically for the event.

Maintenance notice just gone up in any case, but hope it's not just the unveiled Corvette DLC they release. Could do with a decent track pack seeing as I guess we're gonna be waiting a while for GT6.

I've played GT5 on my LG with DualPlay, their version of Simulview and it works quite well with minimal ghosting from the other player. Took me a while to work out how to get it functioning but once I did it was pretty decent.

Sadly as it's not supported all it actually does is take the split screen and send each split to a seperate frame so it stretches it quite a bit and doesn't give the clarity and normality of the Sony solution.

I was looking to pick this game up, is the Academy Edition the one to buy at this point? I'd rather not put in a disc and be updating for months! Any disadvantage to buying used, code wise?

All the DLC comes in codes so yeah, big disadvantage. And Academy is the one most up to date but you'll still do a couple of updates.

The C7 will hit GT5 this Monday

Part of GM’s plan to make the car more aspirational to younger people includes promoting the Corvette in video games, Perry said. GM worked with Sony Corp. (6758) to make available in November a camouflaged version of the new Corvette in the popular PlayStation 3 video game “Gran Turismo.”

The new version of the Corvette will be available Jan. 14 for the video game, Perry said. The real car reaches showrooms by year’s end.

I dreamt last night that I was staying at a hotel and Kazunori Yamauchi was there too. I asked him about GT Vita and he showed it to me. It had 700+ cars, but only 45 of them had interiors. The handling was the same as GT5.

Can't wait to see PD's unveiling of this car. Do you think they will release a video similarly to the 458? Or simply patch-in the uncloaked model?

Probably patch in the uncloaked. Though it'd be nice if they just made a code for both the cloak and uncloaked version. *shrug* Photomode anality I guess.
