What Zelda? They only announced OOT3D and Skyward Sword that year.

He means the Wii U graphics teaser from e3 2011. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I could have sworn I read from one of the Zelda producers within the last six months or so that the graphic style isn't likely to change much from Skyward Sword. Obviously an increase in textures and models as it's a Wii U game, but still cartoony and colorful.

They have 3 teams. Takahashi is leading the Wii U project. Yasuyuke Honne is leading the Kyoto 3DS project. And they also have a third team who occasionally work closer with Namco (I think)

Takahashi's team:

  • Xenosaga 1
  • Xenosaga 2
  • Xenosaga 3
  • Soma Bringer
  • Xenoblade
  • Wii U project that's getting announced tomorrow

Honne's team:

  • Baiten Kaitos (with Tri-Crescendo)
  • Baiten Kaitos Origins (with Tri-Crescendo)
  • Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans
  • Untitled 3DS project

B-Team:

  • Namco X Capcom
  • Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier (with Banpresto)
  • Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED (with Banpresto)
  • Project X Zone (with Banpresto)

So..... What if Moonlith-Soft was working with the Mother team to make an Earthbound for the WiiU?

The Moonlith tweet + the "something new coming for Mother series" tweet + the UFO artwork image = OMGGGGGG

give me something to hold onto nintendo. make this count, I want to see at least two brand new titles and firm release date for w101 along with new trailers for lego city undercover. don't let me down.

With that Soraya Saga tweet I am pretty confident that Monolith Soft's new game will in fact get some sort of trailer tomorrow, at least on the Japanese direct. Exciting.

I just want some more footage of either of Platinum's offerings. I want the itch to buy a Wii U.

E: something from either Monolith or Retro would be enough too.

It's been said that the new game Takahashi's team is working on is a new IP.

Unless of course they decide to slap the Xeno name on it again as another marketing ploy. It didn't really work last time, so hopefully they don't do it again.

Do we know anything about the Monolith Wii U game?

Like, I know it's not a Xenoblade sequel (and I'm glad for that!), but any information on what kind of game it'll be? Another RPG?

Okay, I'm starting to believe Monolith Soft's game might be shown. My fear of the absence of an announcement, however, have morphed into a fear of a lackluster reveal.

Remember, we're expecting the visuals to be pretty great. It can easily be underwhelming.

Three teams. One for Project X Zone (with Banpresto), one for another 3DS game, and another for the Wii U game that's getting announced tomorrow.

Xenoblade team: Wii U game
Team handheld A: PXZ
Team handheld B: unknown

Thanks for the replies.

So basically, it's looking like an announcement of Takahashi's project will come tomorrow. Honne's team seems to have been free for a while, probably meaning an announcement later in the year. The final team worked on PXZ, which released last Autumn; iirc Monolith developed several games for Namco over the course of the DS' life (Super Robot Taisen and DBZ games, I think), so an announcement and release of their next game is possible next year.

EDIT: Seen Aquamarine's other post. So Honne's team has been free since 2009, that pretty much guarantees an announcement this year, I think

Iwata is doing the Direct for all territories this time, so instead of the usual we'll be getting the same content as Japan, just with him filming a separate version in English.

My thread got locked even though I was first, but this topic is more detailed anyway and I always follow Cheesemeister on twitter for the goods, so I ain't even mad. Im...

New Monolithsoft announcement? Time for me to start Xenoblade.

September.

Also, anyone thinking about ambassador program games? LOL

Okay if it was September then I'm officially excited. I had forgotten he teased that in the Japanese version. It's been seven months. Probably a trailer.

Fast forward to 2015: Project U-fall is in full force and GameStop approaches NoA to pay part of the publishing costs to bring Xenoblade 2 to North America so the 400,000 Xenoblade fans here are allowed to spend their $60.

That's certainly good for Monlith Soft fans everywhere. Hopefully Xenoblade made them feel like there is an audienece outside of Japan, maybe we can get that game out of Japan sooner this time.

While this is a strong possibility, the announcement can only lead to an uptick in Internet rage -- unless they confirm that your current Wii VC games can be updated to the WiiU versions. Otherwise, we can expect that they will be doling out the same VC games all over again at a snail's pace.

Just to dial-down the Monolith hype a little, I was looking through Soraya Saga's older tweets, and she retweeted about the Nov. 7th Nintendo Direct, which didn't have anything to do with Monolith, so her retweets might not be any indication of Monolith news.

Edit: She did retweet about the 13th Sept ND, though, which was the one which first mentioned that Monolith were working on a Wii U game.

Keeping my expectations in check. They're not really in the business of announcing games that are a long way off (barring unforeseen delays). Would love some Bayonetta 2 footage though.

It'd be nice to see Monolith's new game there tomorrow, but I don't expect it to be there for sure or anything. :p
