Look, if Nintendo wants to give their B-list franchises another chance to shine, utilize the eshop for that purpose! Instead of spending million$ on a retail title for franchises like Starfox, F-Zero, Ice Climbers etc. give them all new games designed for the eshop. If one sells exceptionally well, then consider making a full fledged title for that franchise. Nintendo can essentially test the waters with the eshop without all the *risk* involved in creating a blockbuster game that has flop potential.

IIRC, I remember SF64 3D sold over 400k, and that was a while ago. Pretty decent, considering it was just an enhanced port.

2011 gets a bad shake because of the overwhelming hype going in about the first WiiU unveiling and the awesomeness that was E3 2010 for Nintendo. E3 Nintendo 2012 just sucked.

That included the orchestrated performance, the demonstrations, and the like. Given the fact Zelda Skyward Sword was demoed for quite some time during the 2010 keynote, I felt cheated.

It's amazing how the opinions of Monolift Soft have 180ed. A few years ago people were crapping on them, and now they're heralded as highly as Retro. And I agree.

I think that new Pikmin 3 and W101 trailers would be OK. You have to think comparatively to the worst case scenario which is 20 minutes of talking about how pleased they are with sales then a 9 minute demo of Wii Fit U, capped by a full minute of Iwata hair flips.

I think Nintendo's best was the GameCube's reveal. I think that was 2001. They had new IP's in Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin, plus they confirmed they were working on pretty much every major franchise they had. People loved it, and wanted something like that for 2012, but look at the GC's sales. I guess you never know.
