These guys are starting to sound like Peter Molyneux...
(but I guess as long as they deliver, that's ok)
That's the reason the gameplay was more fun than the original. That's arguably their "worst" game. Way too close to a console RPG for my liking.
Hopefully the shadows aren't hideous this time.
Hmm. For some reason I don't think storytelling issues has anything to do with engines.
Pretty easily actually. They like to talk but I have yet to play anything from them that I could definitively call a classic. Now they want to do what hardly anyone has done in modern times, make an open world game that's not full of junk and can tell a story at the same time. Yes I'm extremely doubtful.
So is The Witcher 3 not going to be an example of this or was that line just to hype up cyberpunk 2077?

CDP know exactly what to say to get people to like them, even when they can't actually make good games. Witcher 2 is so bland and boring but hey it's got a decent graphics engine and it's MaTure¬1

I'm sure they've talked everyone into enjoying it, and no one could have possibly actually enjoyed their games. They have critics and gamers everywhere fooled. I guess they must have a speech skill must be level 100.

While I don't agree with him I do think PC Gamers prop them up far more than they deserve since they're the only ones really pushing the high end systems, and they say all the right things too that make PC gamers wet. The problem is they're chasing consoles too and their games are getting simpler each time (so far). As a CRPG fan first and graphics whore second that bothers me.
Not sure what that has to do with anything at all.
IMO, CDPR are going in the right direction with The Witcher series, especially gameplay-wise. But I can see how that's a turn off for some people. While I don't agree with him I do think PC Gamers prop them up far more than they deserve since they're the only ones really pushing the high end systems, and they say all the right things too that make PC gamers wet. Oh, I forgot my point, sorry. Well in my opinion I felt like Human Revolution suffered more from being on consoles as well than The Witcher 2 did.

However, they need to improve the combat mechanics to become even more responsive. That was my main gripe with TW2.
The only part of TW2 that felt like it was "for consoles" was a few control quirks. It felt a bit awkward with K&M in some places, especially the sluggish mouse in the menus.
I found both kbm and controller were awkward at times on PC. The menus were terrible for both imo. I also remember the mouse being laggy/accelerated. Not necessarily an engine issue, but I hope these things are fixed. The only part of TW2 that felt like it was "for consoles" was a few control quirks. I usually glance over 99% of your posts since, IMHO, you lost any credibility by shitting on everything that's out there but after this sentence, you've hit the new low for me.That's arguably their "worst" game. Way too close to a console RPG for my liking.
The entire combat system was designed specifically for consoles. They took almost all stats out of it and made it so you could do endless dive rolls and win everything easily.
Bland AND Boring at the same time. I completely disagree. I've heard many complaints about combat mechanics or animations or the relatively short final chapter but I can't see how the game could be considered bland and boring. There's more interesting things happening on the periphery of Witcher 2's main story than most entire games have these days and the maturity of the story comes from the fact that they don't treat the player like a moron by blatantly and unnaturally describing every event brought up in conversation to the player. The locations are beautiful and colorful and unique and there's more than enough quests and interesting characters to keep the game compelling throughout.
Ah group stance. Those were the days.Win everything easily? Compared to TW1? Come on now Derrick. In TW1 you just needed to pop potions before combat and then hack away... by clicking your mouse in a rhythm. Hell, you didn't even need to pay attention to combat after Act 1, you could just stay in group stance and stay put while enemies were absolutely helpless against you.
It's not a bad game, it's just...compared to the level of hype they receive as a result of being cheerleaders for a PC audience who feel marginalised, they don't deliver.

Apparently rolling around trying not to get killed by a group of nekkers that seem to attack in sequence to stun lock you is easier than jumping into a group of dudes and group stancing them to death. So im not the only one that find the Witcher 1 combat easier than 2...
I mean, attacking goups of people on TW1 was a breeze. Im pretty sure you need a lot more tactics to do the same thing in TW2.
If you wanted to clean up the shadows in TW2 you had to use ubersampling. Higher sample rate = cleaner dithering. But no matter what you did, they were dithered, and if you didn't have the super computer to ubersample the dithering was always there. It was extremely noticeable in areas with heavy shadows cast over layered assets and scenery, like the Flotsam forest.

Really, all I want from RED Engine 3 is The Witcher 2 quality visuals in an open environment, with improvements to shadows and foliage render distance. Texture filtering was also shitty in TW2, but fixable through drivers.
From that shot, if it's accurate to the game, I look to be getting just that. I don't see any shadow dithering, and the grass in the distance had rendered.
Seeing as the article saying Cyberpunk 2077 will be a prime example of this engine I would assume so too.I would assume this engine will be used to Cyberpunk 2077 as well.
If they want to adopt that aspect of console game design, they better do it right. Sword dancing needs to be more than just an aesthetic, and hitting enemies needs to have more weight to it, a la Dark Souls. Basically, I want to be in full control of any given situation. That's exactly what you do in the 2nd game too. Every time something's about to attack just dive roll around them and hit them from behind. It's an incredibly easy game after you figure out the controls in the prologue, and yet they still made it even easier thanks to whiners.
I would assume this engine will be used to Cyberpunk 2077 as well. And now imagine this engine + FF13 fighting animations + KoTOR's combat mechanics in KoTOR3 by CDPR.

What is 64 bit HDR? I hope they hve better DLC this go around.
