I've always wanted to play The Witcher games, especially 2, but I'm so intimidated by the sheer sizes of the games. I suck at RPGs usually.

The first one is really big and can be a little daunting, especially with all the shittyness going on at the swamp area, but the sequel is pretty accesible and a couple of important interactions from the original are quickly established.

More interested in mod tools than the sequel. I mean the sequel is pretty far away and I'm sure it will be good. Mod tools will allow me to go through the game for the third time. I really want to do it.

If they can make this like an Elder Scrolls game but with actual depth and some narrative focus, I'll be there day one. If they have mod support that rivals Elder Scrolls games, I'll double-dip.

There's a hell of a lot more to look forward to than that, the next two years are looking to be an RPG fans dream.

Why do you think The Witcher 3 is so far away ? By may it will be two full years and they already have their own engine in place now and a lot of experience with it. I would say summer-fall 2013

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
+ Deus Ex: Human Revolution 2.

EDIT: Mass Effect 4 is also confirmed.

Wait, is this actually a thing?

If this isn't confirmed I shall drive up to your house and take a poop on your pillow.

A certain Quebec developer was hiring for the following last year:

“The project is based upon an existing IP that is a well known and respected action/adventure title, with elements of choice and stealth within the gameplay. The future iterations of the franchise intend to really take advantage of the new platforms coming in the next two years to provide an experience with unparralled realism, depth and consequence for player action and choice.”

I'm pretty confident a Deus Ex 4 is coming.

Fallout 4?

This too.

Awesome. Once I had gotten a handle on how to play the combat sections, The Witcher 2 was one of my favorite games I played last year.

So will this be the final game with respect to Gerald's story arc? I hope so because even though Gerald is ok I want to play as some of the other more exotic characters with a more unique perspective. Gerald is a bit too dry for my tastes.

They could try to make a few playable characters, or a team like in the later books, but Geralt will surely be in the games. The whole franchise is about him (and his daughter, but she's gone in the games).

As someone who knows literally nothing about the books and is on Chapter 5 of Witcher 1... what?

If it's some kind of spoiler for the rest of TW1 (seems unlikely) or any of TW2 I'll figure it out on my own. Otherwise I'm definitely curious about that.

Probably best to wait and find out yourself but a simple explanation is below if you cant wait.

in the books he claims someones unborn child as payment for services rendered as it is how Witchers used to grow there ranks, he ends up bringing her up as his own daughter. its a little more complicated than that but that's the simplified story

It's not a spoiler for the games, i guess. I definately remember that Ciri is mentioned by people that knew her - Dandelion, Yarpen, Triss - but she isn't a factor in the games. She
went away the same day when Geralt 'died' and wasn't seen again
.

I hope she'll be back though, she was awesome in books, especially later ones that aren't translated in English.

I take back my list of greatest(s) games of this gen and add Witcher 2. Probably my GOTY last year on 360. Very much looking forward to this.

She was in the books, don't worry about it. I'm sure they won't include her in TW3.

Wouldn't be entirely sure of that. If the Wild Hunt stays a focus then getting to Ciri is the only logical reason within the lore for them to have taken Geralt or Yennifer. She's also important to the Emperor of Nilfgaard, which is where Yennifer is currently at.

So it's possible she has a presence in this game, even if she doesn't physically appear, much like Yennifer in TW2. But they'd probably include any relevant information within the game itself. Avoiding throwing names out without providing some context was one of their goals for future games.

But she's in Camelot now.

True, but she's not trapped there or anything, she can go pretty much wherever or whenever she wants. She'd probably rather avoid coming back but it wouldn't be the first time they negated the books. That's why the games aren't canon.

Although give me a Ciri in Camelot game instead and I'd play it.
