Most analysts seem to think Harbaugh had plans for Karp from before, and that it was going to happen sooner or later. The 9ers flourish as an innovative team and Smith might flourish somewhere else as well; lots of teams out there in need of QBs Win-win, no?

I dunno. I'm a coach (in another sport) so I'm kind of biased, but I always think the coach should make objective decisions for the betterment of the team and not take someone's personal sense of morality under consideration.
