Halo |OT14| They call it Halo

So people are playing the doubles playlist solo with random teammates? I don't think I've ever had a good experience in doubles when playing solo.

I'm gonna miss the community forge test maps.
Just played Pro on Haven. Nice touches like coloring the sides. Lost by one point because time expired (would have tied it) and my partner went -14. I should have babysit him more, but I was more pressed to get Railgun and Sticky Detonator kills, both of which I'm trying to get commendations for, and both of which spawned regularly and in the same places. :) BRs and Needlers were lying around the map too.

Doubles Pro is rad.

Infinity CTF is decidedly not rad. Holy power weapon clusterfuck. Yes, Mr. Franklin, Speed Boost and Flag is definitely a little OP.

Got a few games of standard Halo 4 CTF in as well, the revised flag return times definitely help. Haven't managed to see Exile yet, so I can't say whether or not it's CTF Heavies: The Video Game.

I don't think he wanted a technical answer, think his question was more rhetorical.

Like why cant we just get a release without problems? Whats going on over there?

If you hop on right now you can enjoy the game with 9812 other people!
Mostly rhetorical, but also curious. Swat is also a joke at this point in time. A rotational playlist not getting the axe, when they claim that the population wants it even though it can barely manage 1/4 of IS at peak hours.

At this point, I'm surprised it isn't permanent, it still reaches higher numbers than Regicide, Flood, CTF, Offball and on the odd occasion, Dominion.

If they should cut anything, it is Oddball, CTF, combine them into one big Objective playlist, add KoTH to it.
Axe Team Regicide, turn Infinity Slayer into Team Slayer, add Team Regicide as an option.

It looked the same Infinity's holographic maps of Requiem.

Naa, I don't think so. It had rings around it. Kinda like the planet near Reach.

...

Never really noticed it before, but in the epilogue of Halo 4 it shows marines touching down in a human city with a metal case. It then shows the marines scanning debris on the ground..

Possible hint to Cortana surviving somehow?

It's not exactly the same, but the pattern of circles around the outside the planet are extremely similar, plus both show the planet itself in blue surrounded by the outer shell in yellow.

I took that as a team getting readings of what happened to the people in the city more than anything... scanning for energy readings and such. Not really sure how Cortana would be involved in that specifically.

Worst video game character.

Who can claim the crown?

"EGGHEADS, USE THIS SPOON TO DISABLE THAT TACTICAL NUKE"

Also solid brass balls for 343 to actually show (Episode 8 CG spoiler)
a Spartan getting smashed in the face with a giant rock fucking b-rated horror flick-style, holy shit.

As for the holo-map-planet dispute: I'm guessing it's an advanced map of Requiem the Covenant found somewhere. Meanwhile the Infinity's holo-map-planet is also requiem, but it's just a surface scan and as a result doesn't show as much.

That human city was New Phoenix which was the city the Didact started to compose / digitize its inhabitants.

So starting this week's Spartan Ops and damn so yea. Not liking that someone's now got a bounty on her head.

Also damn that first chapter's texture popping is bad at the end.

The rock smash was a nice touch but it wasn't that brutal. It just kind of crumbled apart like dust upon impact.

I think non-Infinity gametypes should be looked at under a different lens when making judgments on playlist culling. They are their own animal, and should be treated as such. In the times I've been playing, SWAT has one of the higher populations outside of Infinity, so I understand why it's still around.

The only way I'd concede to merged playlists again is if it were handled better than it has been in previous Halos. Rotate CTF, Oddball, and KOTH regularly so each round would be about voting for the map, not a gametype/map combo.

I think you'd have to throw TR in with the other objective games; as I mentioned before, Infinity gametypes are a separate beast and should stay in their own corner.

Oooh yes, I see it now. Couldn't remember that being so similar haha.

So basically it'll be all like...
"Hey a map! Cool! Lets work out where it points to!" *Week 9 ends* ... *week 10 begins* We've found Jul on Requiem!" *something something final stand and awful cliff-hanger hinting at Season 2*

Ahhh, that makes sense. Still shocked about the ending haha. Looking for ways that 343i might use to bring her back :p

At this point, the alternative is having multiple core objective gametypes, one of which was a series staple, completely unavailable in standard matchmaking. I think that it's totally unacceptable that KOTH and Extraction aren't in standard (non-DLC) matchmaking. Oddball won't survive many more cuts with the 2% of the total concurrent population it pulls, so the casualties will only get higher if this model continues. At some point you've got to merge and execute the weightings as best as possible, especially when the gametypes in question don't have enough maps that they work well on to support themselves and aren't able to maintain a population.

The previous Halos didn't exactly set a super high standard for properly managing gametype weightings or anything (to be polite), so that's not a totally unrealistic bar to aim for.

Maybe it's too early to state, but it looks like MS shat the bed. rip ms
I know that's English, but I can't understand any of that shit.

I think it's inevitable that there will be a merge of some kind, I just hope it's handled better than any Objective playlist has been in the past. As long as every gametype gets equal playtime, it might be a good thing.

People are saying that it's half as powerful as the Orbis?

Wow. If true, I'd seriously consider buying the PS4 at launch instead. There's not much tying me to MS/Xbox any more.

Won't you wait for game announcements? For new IPs?

I think buying a console just because of technical mumbo jumbo numbers isn't right.

This is the same boat I'm in. I want a reason to buy the next Xbox but they've gotta earn it. I don't want to see the Nintendo effect separate me from a lot of my favorite franchises again, but what can I do? Thank God I've got a PC to hold me over until all this gets sorted out and we start seeing some demos so we can really make these comparisons.

Wish I had my mic charged.

Went into doubles for a few games and got matched up with this mic'd up dude who was pretty good, we were about the same skill level and we just RAN. TRAIN.

Consistent Weapon Spawns are so fucking refreshing. Do it across the board 343.

Rotational playlists are a joke if they remain permanent, regardless of population. Even though Swat and Team Regicide are arguably two of the best playlists, even I would take them out for a week or two. Heck, look at Halo 3 and what Grifball did. It was the most popular playlist, primarily because of the exclusivity factor. Swat has shown the same tendencies. When it first came out and it was higher than IS. Now that people know that it's going to be there forever, it's dropped significantly. As for the bolded, I highly doubt 343 would do that, seeing as the way they "tested" what was more popular between TU and Vanilla Reach was to just have slot 1 be TU and slot 2 be Vanilla and a random mish-mash of maps between the two. I'd vote for TU unless it was Uncaged or Enclosed, which breaks their either/or logic.

I think people are sort of missing the point that Majestic isn't supposed to be the awesome Spartans of yore, and Palmer is supposed to be a bit of a jerk. Unfortunately aside from Thorne we don't have any background on these characters which makes them for all purposes flat. I think trying to go with a Reach-style "there is your Spartan!" was ultimately a bad decision when paired with the prerendered limitations. We could have axed the characters who don't matter and focus more on the ones that do.

Of course I'm going to wait before making a final decision, but right now switching is a serious consideration. Microsoft is obviously taking the Nextbox in a different direction then what I want it for - they're turning it into an entertainment centre, where as I just want to play games... and as it stands, the PS4 sounds to be better equipped at doing so. If Sony has redesigned the controller, multiplayer remains free and its specs are as powerful as they're rumoured to be, then there's no doubt in my mind that I'll buy the PS4 instead of a Xbox.

Microsoft has Halo and Gears... and I'm beginning to dislike Halo
and Gears sucks
. Unless they announce several awesome new exclusive IPs that are ridiculously good, it's not much incentive to stick with the system.

And I disagree. When buying something as expensive as a new console, I think it's good to look at the mumbo jumbo numbers (Not that I understand them all myself). I don't want to regret my purchase within a few years because I bought a system that's painfully outdated.

Yeah... I want to buy the new Xbox, but they've got to give a reason why I should.

Regardless... new consoles are exciting. Really can't wait until they start showing those bad boys off.

All of you are invited to the wedding.

Casual clothing is ok. Wahrer isn't allowed to talk to my relatives, they will think you're awkward.

When comparing the two images:
1. Requiem has 4 yellow circles inside that represents the Particle Cannons?

The squares represents the Gravity Well.

And does the blue rings around each planet represents its artificial gravity?

2. There's also 4 yellow circles and little blue orbs that are shown outside of the supposedly Gas Giant/Shield Installation connected to it, it also has a large cylinder shaped portal(s) and has 2 rings around the planet rather than 1, but why? Idk.

Could the Librarian is located be in there and perhaps Dr. Halsey's actions through the beamed portal transfer her to that world???

So you guys know how the Librarian met with Chief alone? Like, Cortana got pulled away somewhere prior to Chief meeting the librarian...

What if she saved her? What if Hasley is going to meet and perhaps fix Cortana?

The first time they try to open a portal after on Requiem, it fails but then it just opens up (Cortana even looks suprised). My guess is that they were lead there by the Librarian.

Yeah, when they finally meet, Cortana will seductively walk forward and kiss Halsey.

"I've always wanted to do that"

I'm guessing Halsey becomes Chief's new AI. If she gets united with Cortana fragments or something there'll probably be a mini-arc about her resolving all of her internal conflicts.

Just finished one hell of a month with University exams and deadlines, switch on Halo 4 for an hour of unadulterated Community Test pleasure, and I find it's been nuked.

Fuck Halo 4, man. Why? Just why? Only nuke it when it can be adequately replaced, don't nuke it and force me to play doubles, or god forbid, fucking regicide.

I really want to like this game, I really try to like this game, but at every turn it feels like 343 are the architects of one big psychological experiment, and we're the lab rats.

Can some computer nerd break all that technical stuff down into layman's terms?

PS4 is more powerful. So Microsoft will really need to hit it out of the park with exclusives because if the PS4 has cross-game chat, still free online, PS+ deals, "share" feature and Destiny...Im switching over.

Doubles Pro is the best I have played in the game for now.
So play pro?
Would it be that easy :(
