The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2014, PC/NextGen): Game Informer March 2013 [Updated OP]

Surprised some people seemed "meh" on the idea of monster hunts. To me that shit sounds like the opening for the first Witcher. If they are anything like that... holy shit. Fits perfectly into the Witcher universe.

Really love the idea of having to seek out information about the type of monster or the story behind it, and preparing towards that. Much better than "Hey this monster needs killing" and just going to do it.

The thing I find refreshing and unorthodox (for now anyway) is how much information they've dropped in the first reveal. Usually we'd get some wack ass trailer with a logo and have to wait 6 months for actual info. With Cyberpunk and this, CDPR laid out their plans flat

I like the way these dudes conduct themselves

Yes! I can't wait. The question is....will my pc be able to run this or will I have to get it on a next gen console. Either way, the open world sounds amazing...I can't even imagine how awesome it will be.

Yeah but with Cyberpunk you have to wait until 2015 for the game.

Witcher 3 is most likely this year.

Been meaning to get into the witcher. Only 2 is on consoles right? Is it weird to jump in at the sequel? Or should I youtube some plot points?

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.

CDPR is a really dedicated studio. Always looking to push the bar, do something new. If this was any other studio, The Witcher 3 would have already been released by now with minimal improvements.

You lose some understanding of the world, characters, and political situation, but the plots of the first two games are relatively self-contained. I would heavily recommend playing the first if you have the pc for it, but if consoles are it, you can jump in with the second.

Also zero DRM, that's a major selling point for me.

CDP also makes more money from PC versions, and I love to support them! Although, my current computer won't run the game well and I probably won't be able to afford an upgrade (I'm still a poor uni student), that sucks :(

Well we all knew it was going to be announced today but still, great news. Monster hunting was sorely lacking in the 2nd game so their focus on it is welcome.

I wish the twits at Gameinformer would update their Android app from the piece of shit it currently is. I'd actually buy the issues of the magazine which had interesting news (like this or the GTA reveal) if they would let me do it on Android.

One account saying 11 hours, another one saying 5... Which is correct?

i don't like that recap personally, but i guess it works for people who wanna skip the first one. it's still missing so much stuff. kinda wish they did a better recap.
The game is certainly worth playing, that's for sure! People should just do that instead, I say.

That's 5am for me :( damn.

Haha I know that feel. The last 2 CDP conferences started at 4:30/5am for me (although, I remember that I was pulling an all nighter for a programming project when I saw the one where they announced Cyberpunk 2077, it really helped me stay awake haha). This one starts a 7am though, so that's not as bad.

I might put together a How To Survive Act I guide to get more people to stick it out. Personally I enjoy it but I agree that it's lacking in focus, and that the game really kicks it up a notch or several once you get to Act II.

In time, we can do that. And it's completely okay, because its The Witcher 3

The world won't understand but I say fuck em.

Hopefully I'll have a great PC by the time this comes out, so that I can play 2 and follow it with this.

Fan translated rest of the books. And it is good translation

Read my mind! I was just going to open a tab to get looking for that since I remembered Sword of Destiny came between TLW and BoE. I just want to have them on my desk and I wish the relationship between Sapkowski and the US publisher was better off. We've been due for Contempt since what, 3-4 years ago?

Day fucking one! \o/ I'll have Haswell by then in my machine so my PC will be ready
I hope...

But I'll get the NextBox and/or PS4 version just in case.

Hype level through the roof!

Yep! This is exactly what I first thought too. That TW1 trailer was fucking amazing.

In terms of combat, I hope they don't make it so roll intensive. Swordplay should be a more back and forth/parry counter feel which is what I thought they were aiming for...

Geralt now does a pivot move "that retains its defensive utility without game-breaking mobility". So no more dodge-roll.

THIS IS EXACTLY HOW witchers fight in books and dodge=roll was always bad. They fixed it OMG

I want them to tell me fast travel is out and that the world isn't being built around its existence in mind.
