The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2014, PC/NextGen): Game Informer March 2013 [Updated OP]

Sounds like you'll be doing quick sidesteps and spins to avoid attacks, rather than rolling 20 feet away to pop Quen again. I wonder if it'll just be a separate 'dodge' button or prompt.

I know some people have talked about it already but I really like the subtitle, it is leaps and bounds better than 'Assassins of Kings' (I would have gone with 'Kingslayer'). Wild Hunt fits both with the lore of The Witcher and the new freedom an open world allows the player.

I know this won't come to Wii U so I am hoping it hits both the other new consoles so I have a bit more of a choice on which one I go for, unlike 2 that was 360-only (console-wise, not a PC gamer).

The Wild hunt now being a core component for the plot and get to see evertything about them? Yes!

I say keep the roll there but introduce some kind of penalty to it, like a slight lag in getting back up or drain the stamina bar...making it more of a regroup move rather than a straight up dodge.

The next-gen sex cards will be glorious.

But they removed sex cards from Witcher 2 :( (i believe i am the only one who liked them lol :O)

So i am finally getting hyped for next gen, and nice beard there Geralt of Rivia! (stole it from old Olrorin eh!) :D

Wow, the details sound great. The only part I don't like is waiting until 2014 :( The game will be the better for it though I'm sure.

But what about Versus?..........*Cricket*

lol even if that somehow came out there is no way in hell a nomura game would be better than Witcher 3.

hell, bring out half life 3 and i'm still dropping preemptive goty on witcher 3

edit: i have my doubts about open world too but i think they will handle the 'story' much better here. skyrim didn't really have a plot. witcher games do, and they'll do the same here only this time you can go about it at your own pace. i won't be doing much of the low-tier missions i think. probably just mid and plot missions

Might not be better, but it will be different enough to hold it's own category, rather than be hidden away in the shadow of The Witcher 3. (but right now it's hidden deep deep in the darkness lol)

Well, if X from Monolith Soft comes out in that same year, that would be a tough fight, at least for me!

This so much. I hate fast travel.
Here's an idea, just don't use it!

I'm really tired of people complaining about fast travel. If designers make the world interesting enough ill scour every corner. If you litter it with boring dungeons, quests, empty scenery and bad gameplay ill just quit playing your game whether there is fast travel or not.

There comes a point where you want to go from point A to point B to complete a quest or find a location and when it takes 20-30 minutes just to reach it it goes from being fun to becoming tedious and monotonous.

I was actually hoping it WOULDN'T be open-world. No real need to focus on the same design paradigm for all your games and follow the current industry trends CDPR. Ultimately, though, I just hope it's a good game. Given their track record, chances are p. good.

That's a horrible solution though. If a game has fast travel then it will most likely be designed so that you either use it or you end up with long boring travel times. If the game didn't have fast travel, the designers would have to think about the travel times and how to make it more interesting.

Can't wait! I'm buying everything CDP does on the first day. I hope they will include something nuts in the collectors edition.

And i'm kinda proud that a home-made Polish franchise from a Polish developer is getting so much hype in the world. :) I was seriously hoping that this would happen when CDP unveiled the first game.

I really hope they can pull off an open world rpg witthout losing any quality. but my trust in CDPR has not been disappointed so far.

Its not that simple, though. When developers design a mountain range that is almost impassible except for a tiny little opening because they are assuming the player will use FT, then it sucks for those of us that feel like it's a massive immersion-breaker. The subway system in Fallout 3 is a perfect example. A non-FT playthrough of that game is incredibly frustrating.

I just want a system like 'World of Warcraft' where you can catch real-time transport of some kind, combined with costly transportation spells if/once you are capable of casting them (which shouldn't be an easy task to accomplish). They don't kill immersion so much because they fit into the lore, unlike going into a menu and selecting a city to instantly warp to.
