People who want the analog sticks switched around are crazy. What if I'm playing a first person shooter and need to jump? You expect me to move my thumb all the way down to the X button? That would be like moving your thumb from the stick to triangle on the current set-up.

It's symmetrical, like your hands. Placing the analog sticks asymmetrically is not natural at all. It may still be comfortable, but not natural.

Couldn't they put images underneath the touchpad that a light illuminates from underneath? When you are on the XMB or whatever they light up Music, Video, Games and Friends for quick access to each? It would be a simulated touch screen...The light would go off and the images disappear when you start a game...

LCDs look cooler though and developers could program their own little LCD programs to run on the controller with their games.

Anyone speculate yet about how 2 handed motion controls might work? The Move had the sphere for 3 degrees of position tracking, whereas a rectangle would actually provide position AND orientation, I think, which would eliminate the need for internal sensors?

I actually really like its design. What makes me cringe, however, is the thought of how damn expensive each controller is going to be.

I hate spending $40-$50 on new, first-party controllers as it is. With all the tech crammed into it, I can see these going from $60-$70 a piece.

Well they spaced the sticks out as a sop to the clumsy thumbs out there. The only negative I have with the DS3 is how flimsy it feels, something the 360 pad has right, it just feels sturdy. In this picture the controller looks sturdy.

ON the PS controller: I wish it didn't look like another dual shock. Boo, so boring. I preferred the 360 controller too for 3D movement, but the PS controller is nice for fighting games at least.

I'm sure there are a lot who find the symmetrical layout more comfortable too. I haven't seen any say something is wrong with another poster solely because they prefer it.

there nothing wrong with liking it that way, it's the "Superior layout" or "Sony, when will you learn and position your thumb sticks in a natural layout!" "They still can't get the placement of their left analog sick correct" and stating it as fact
When its NOT fact, its not natural, its not superior, its just their opinion & a large majority of people who would be buying the console "Hate" that layout, but if they prefer it thats fine, just don't got telling people that the layout is "Godlike " and anybody that don't use it( which is a lot) is doing it wrong.
