It's violent carnage and war. It's likely because of people like you that the Killzone franchise keeps getting watered down. Too much bloody hand holding required in gaming these days. Eurgh...

No kidding. I don't need my enemies in vibrant colors or anything else to stick out. Last time I checked, making the enemies blend in more IS part of gameplay if the devs want it that way. I'd love to see what people would bitch about if they tried to play a game like ArmA 2 then...lol. There's a reason GG put the red and blue lights in the game to be identifiers which is as simple as it can get.

But I guess we should say "fuck the developers" like the .gif poster just because it's not to his liking. No wonder developers have a hard time pleasing their old fans when they have to listen to shit like that...

Lol at the people downplaying Killzone, the explosions, the colors, the animation, the gun models, the scale of it all... ridiculous.
Actually I was disappointed with the animations (see the walking then climbing down stairs animation, it's like he twitches when he transitions into the next animation).

Drive Club looks incredible, though i'd say on par with Project CARS (from what i've seen in gifs and screens, as i don't have the game) maybe even something less.

Not even close from what I've seen.

Project Cars is sitting high and pretty on top of the racing game graphical dog pile.

this is garbage to me. Fuck developers who put graphics over gameplay, you can't even see the enemies. fuck the people who like this type of crap, this is why gaming is in a massive decline.
Well there's shit exploding all over with explosions and smoke so it's realistic that your enemies won't pop out at you. The gameplay in killzone is and usually always was rather good. If this is too many things on the screen for you you're welcome to play some original counter strike. Barely anything to block your view from enemies.

Everything, obviously, looks so much better than the compressed conference stream. It really does shine a new, better light on quality that was difficult to decipher last night.

Most game trailers we saw on the PS4 event where actually cgi or on rendered on a pc, besides killzone. Anyone remember Sonys fake Killzone trailer for PS3? Perhaps history repeat itself.

is the ps4 core archetecture more closely resemble PC's for easier SDK for deleveplers? So if that's true, does it mean that xbox 720 and PS4 will resemble a lot closer to each other than before? Does that mean we can expect destiny to look and run similar to each other others platforms?

Killzone looked good, especially the cityscape stuff, but not "CG" good.

Also, games will never achieve movie level CG literally, but I think its fair to say that many assets could be on par in some fields.. But namely, if its matching CG, its matching video game CG, not CG from actual movies.

Not even close from what I've seen.

I wont lie, I was hoping to see more visuals like this. Deep Down was the only one that made me question whether it was CG or In-Engine.

It means you're wrong about it being cgi, whether you can believe it or not

we'll have to wait and see, right ? :)
if it runs at this framerate and resolution on final hardware, I'll litteraly eat my hat.
i'll have to buy an hat first cause I don't have any.

I'd hardly call it garbage!!

I was mad that I couldn't make out the enemy on the 480p stream though, about to watch the 1080p version to see if it helps.

I will say the guy who played it at the conference played it too well and actually ended up making it seem boring - he was shooting so fast etc, people didn't know what was going on. Killzone being 30fps doesn't help with this...especially with motion blur etc. But it's the look they went for. I know the colours are a bit muddy too. Ok I have to watch the 1080 version now.

The fact that you have to look at 1080P footage of these videos to confirm if they are realtime or not should clue you in as to how impressive some of the tech was.

Killzone was most impressive as it was all 100% game play with stuff like physics and AI working. Watch Dogs was also impressive but not as much as KZ.

Deep Down was just absurd but there was no indication that it was actually game play with the physics and AI implemented. It looked like a cutscene/tech demo than an actual game. Still though I said wow at that. To me it's the same as the Agni demo, yea I am sure cutscene will look like that in the future but call me when a FF game looks like that when you are actually playing...

Infamous and Drive Club were also impressive. I really feel that Knack deserves some gifs as well, it looked really good too visually speaking just a different art style.

Evidently the Killzone demo almost crashed at one point. During the on rails section the guy playing missed too many shots and the timer for surviving was about to run out but there wasn't a death animation programmed in. That would have been a mess.

What a cop out thing to say.

Why? It's not like Killzone is the ONLY game coming out for the system. If he doesn't like the game, then he'll have others to choose from. I don't like Twilight, but it has a right to exist even if I don't personally like it.

I am sorry but I don't buy that 'I am a developer I know it's not pre-rendered, just shut up' crap.

I work in a studio, and a big one, and there are people around me who think it's heavily tweaked in-game-engine (making it effectively 'fake' due to the amount of tweaking), and some who think the tweaks are just on the camera and some effects (the fire) - eventually making it a 'real' video. It's more a philosophical question (to what extent can you push the envelope when showcasing a game?), than a technical one to be honest.

At the end of the day, the debate stagnate when the 'more real' stuff will be public, the 'it's fake' guys will stick to their side of the story, saying the new footage looks nowhere as good as the original one, the 'it's real' side will claim victory cause it looks the same to them...

A bit boring, right?

I just keep getting blown away every time I see KZ. This is just launch!

Wasn't Deep Down just a tech demo a la Agni's Philosophy? it's probably in engine/real time or whatever but that wasn't gameplay, hud was pasted on imo. I still expect next gen games to eventually look like that considering what we're seeing at launch.

based on the number of responses to this comment i consider it a successful troll. That said, i'm gonna bite, and respond.

"Fuck developers who put graphics over gameplay, you can't even see the enemies." cause you know... in real war the enemy wants you to see them clearly.
