Xbox Live Ultimate Game Sale - Feb26-Mar4 (Press X to switch from cash to MSP)

How's that Resident Evil 4 port? I've heard it's shitty, but I it can't be that bad? RIGHT?

It's pretty by the books HD transfer. There's a veeeery rare framerate drop when you, say, blow up four or five people with a grenade, but other than that, it's like playing RE4, except it's not all blurry and shit.

I never played the series but I plan on getting into it. Do I just buy all the games in order of release and thats it or are some of them not really related?

Well they're all related (with the exception of AC3, which is the start of a new character I believe). However, if you're just getting into it and want to save some cash, I would say skip AC1. I'm sure you could look up the important story elements.

It's not a bad game per se, but it pales in comparison to AC2 and beyond. There's way less side quests, and you basically pick from a few activities to gather intel, then do a major assassination, rinse, repeat for the entire game.

Though if you have the money and think you're going to play through the entire series, it may be interesting picking it up. At the very least, it will make you appreciate AC2 (and especially brotherhood) way more.

Oh my god, Microsoft won't let me buy anything until I update my account info and my account info won't be updated until the 28th of next month.

I shouldn't have bought a MS point card, despite them allowing me to add points to my account without having to update my info. So stupid, I can't get Halo Wars or Reach for $10 because of this.

Fuck you too, Microsoft.

I've played a few hours of it, and it seems fine. Just keep in mind that there's no fancy graphics changes or anything, since it's not a "HD remake"...it's just sharper and not so low-res/blurry.

Not actually that important
Go figure, El Shaddai isn't available outside the US and VF5 FS at 400 points is only for Live Gold members :/

The Darkness and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic will be mine, waiting to see the price of Metal Gear Solid HD and Dishonored.

Looking to grab Left 4 Dead 2, SF:AE, and maybe Batman AC.

So glad I sat on those Bing Rewards points I accumulated long ago.

Halo 4 worth it just for campaign? (It's even cheaper on Amazon, so probably going that route.)

Campaign is a technical beast and worth playing but when its over I couldn't help but wonder if the story itself was kind of meaningless. I'm still glad I played but the story seemed a bit out of place IMO.

Good choices, those are the two I just bought. Already played them, but definitely want them back at those prices. Think I may get either Bioshock or Dirt 2 next, not sure.

How does El Shaddai play? Will I just be mashing the X button the whole time, or is there more depth? What's it like?

Dark Messiah is good? The footage I've watched on youtube points towards a decidedly average and unwieldy game. Is it a game that doesn't lend itself well to gameplay videos?

I shouldn't read that, my backlog is already too big... I think I remember the demo for Dark Messiah being quite fun, with multiple ways to kill grunts.
Is the Tomb Raider game one of the good ones ? I'd rather support that one than the one for psychos that releases soon.

Anyone else jumping back into R6 Vegas? Could be fun to do some terrorist hunts later.

Add me on xbl if so: Marksman82

It's a decent hack and slash. If you like those types of game then go for it. Graphics is alittle dated now. I may rebuy it because my old disk constantly skips...

Its nice to read anything regarding the stupid prices on xbox live.

I am STILL waiting for REZ or Ikaruga to drop.
Its been ages, since these 2 were released on xbox live, but i have never seen them below 800 ms points. And this is just too much for me...Iam always buying games when they cost less than the original price...
except scott pilgrim and the HD turbo remix, i have never bought an arcade game for the full price....

oh yeah and i will not expect much, you know how stingy ms is when it comes to reasonable prices on xbox live...

Rez HD has been on sale before, back in november 2008 for 500 msp instead of 800. :p Ikagura was 200 points off last summer(august) and had a 50% off in july 2009. Don't lose hope, since I was actually surprised to see that KOF 98 and 2002 um went on sale last year even if these are super niche game on XBLA.

I love the game, warts and all. The only problem I ever ran into was an annoying checkpoint at The Temple of the Spider that caused me to die immediately after loading. But it only happened once in the three times I beat it back in '08. It is a fun game for what it is and the first person mechanics in the Source engine are nice.

Heh. I bought El Shaddi figuring that I could then use the leftover microsoft points to buy packs for the latest ME3 multiplayer DLC. I didn't realize that downloading full games off of live uses straight-up money and not space bucks.

I then proceeded to buy ME3 packs anyways because I already got it into my mind that I would.

Bought Bioshock. Not too big on FPSs, but for €5 I couldn't resist trying one of this gen's classics.

What's the verdict on Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter? And is 1 or 2 the better game?

So I have two questions for everyone about this.

Since this is looking decently successful and well received, do you think Microsoft will just repeat this for the Holiday seasons like Steam and do you think sales like this can revive older games. I remember when the GFWL version of Shadowrun went on sale for $1, player base got a pretty decent boost for awhile after that.

You have to press X to change it to Microsoft Points

There's actually an option to pay for Games on Demand using Spacebucks (though I still prefer calling them by their true name: Allards) - just hit X or Y at the checkout screen.

Thanks to the deals on MS points from the holidays, I'll be picking up El Shaddai for $1.50 tonight!

Actually having worthwhile sales for both silver and gold accounts would be an improvement, yes. I hope they make this seasonal like steam and, if it's anything like on PC, good sales on multiplayer games will boost the community, at least, temporarily.

What's this I hear about a framerate bug in El Shaddai? Oh well, found out too late. Already bought.

I played through it twice last year off the disc (installed) and I don't remember any frame rate issues.

Great game though, highly recommend. Beautiful art and some thought provoking philosophical themes.

Seems like a surprisingly good sale, far from brilliant but still good. I'll hop on a few titles probably, got a spell of free time coming up.

Eh for $5 I wont complain. Tried the demo a few years back and MP seemed decent

True enough. The entry price is great and I may just buy it.

Thank you both. Looks like I've got another game to add to my increasing list of purchases.

I've bought GRID, Dirt 2, Halo Wars and Darkness so far.
