Just encountered game breaking bug. Cannot progress any further. T_T Restart of checkpoint is not helping, and 7+ of gameplay is totally ruined.

With all these comparisons to Uncharted I'm really getting psyched for playing this game. I was a little late in making my preorder, but hopefully GS will have copy ready for me on tuesday. The PC version can't be that popular compared to consoles, so I'm crossing fingers.

I'm a little annoyed that I got rid of my PS3 last year. Want to replay the Uncharted 2 right now...

Hell no.

Max payne (oldie) , binary domain, vanquish (least good of the bunch) and even SMNC (multiplayer) shit all over uncharted 2.

I played through uc1 twice and enjoyed the movie presentation, it ended before the mediocre shooting overstayed its welcome and was decently paced.
UC2 bored me to tears and took the covershooter part to the next level of awful.

I seriously wonder what people's frame of reference is when they make claims like uncharted 2 best game ever...

On topic: to those who have played it: so it is uncharted then? No tomb raider left in it?
I don't have anything against people who enjoy uncharted but I'm not interested in playing games like it hence why I'm asking what it's like.

What???? Binary Domain best TPS campaign. Holy shit Now I have heard everything. People's frame of reference includes playing better campaigns then Binary domain.

UC2 might be the best cinematic game..but as a shooter? Seriously? The entire game is cover->L1->R1. Hell, Infamous 2 is a better shooter than UC2.

Oh I'm quite interested in this game. But according to my backlog I probably won't get to it until summer. My backlog includes Tomb Raider: Underworld so that should scratch my Tomb Raider itch while I wait. Hopefully it's in the Steam summer sales as well even though it could have been gotten from amazon around $33. I will be playing Bioshock: Infinite on launch though!

Never get rid of your systems. Shit, like what youre going through right now ALWAYS happens eventually.

Yeah, I'm starting to learn it now. What makes it even more sad is that I had an almost complete library of the PS3 exclusives. Wouldn't mind playing a little KZ3 or LBP2 once in a while...

Binary domain has excellent gunplay and hit reactions and AI, uncharted does not.

Gameplay >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> scripted events and sticky platforming.
Sorry if the lack of marketing made it hard to like the game.

Let me guess, your expert opinion on binary domain is based on and limited to the demo.

Do you even understand what campaign means? And no I played the entirety of Binary Domain and its campaign is just average at best. It may have better shooting than RE4 for all I care but its campaign sucks bad.

I'm kind of coming over to the side of the vanquish people for best TPS of the gen after finally playing it thanks to PS+. God damn that game was crazy.

Eh. I still think that Uncharted 2, while not the best gunplay we've seen in TPS, is still better than most of those games. The experience of the campaign was overall better. Regardless of being overly cinematic at times and scripted events.

This game is awesome. I love cinematic games and this is one of the best at doing that, the set pieces are amazing, I really like that the cover system is automatic making the combat much faster paced in which you can bounce around from cover to cover seamlessly. the story isn't really something to write home about, but it gets the job done. the graphics are really good considering the hardware it runs on.

All in all it's not really a "game" in the sense that it challenges you or makes you think about the puzzles, etc, so if you're not into those types of games I advise you pass on it, but if you like the cinematic approach and shit exploding everywhere, this is one of the best experiences this gen.

The ride is fun, for sure. It's essentially playing an Indiana Jones. But pure gameplay? Again, I think that's where the mp lets it shine. There's a reason that game's mp is so popular, it takes the gunplay out of the boring, scripted arenas, and gives you a reason to actually be good. I hope that same happens with TR.

This is essentially the point I made earlier. The sp is for people who like the thrill, the ride, essentially seeing a Transformers movie in the theaters. Why the addition of mp is much appreciated for these kind of games, gives you a chance to put the focus on the gameplay.

so no puzzle within the platforming, ie"How do i get up there" ?

I'm okay with that, because that's what Uncharted is.

Honestly, at this point I'm not even after gameplay so much. It'll be interesting to play this kind of game on PC instead of console, but it's more the experience of über-graphics, Lara's flowing locks, and 1080p60 gameplay in full 3D. If nothing else, it's certainly a very pretty game.

I still have all three Uncharted games downstairs if I really need a fix of that.

That playthrough of SC conviction to prepare for this isn't going too well. Christ that game is bad. I think I need to find another bad dumbed down TPS but I don't have many on my Steam list.

How does playing SCC prepare you for Tomb Raider?

Oh wait, your answer is probably "I need to wash down some shit before I have another helping" or something down that line of thinking.

You know the answer to this..these games don't cater to that anymore. Or, the answer is "an item I don't have yet will get me there."

Well I was looking for a dumbed down cinematic setpiece driven TPS but I don't really have much of that on Steam. That game was the closest I could find. Hitman was another option but I couldn't do that to myself again.

It's all about being in the right frame of mind for a new game.

key element of Tomb Raider gone, interesting
I've got it pre-order anyway & I'm sure its great but I'm shocked they'd took the core of Tomb Raider away, not like it keeping it would effect the game

This franchise is..old. Almost 20 years old. They've given you plenty of that style of game. Why can't they change it up? I'm sure they'd feel smothered by having to stay within the strict confines of "Tomb Raider blueprint." Let them try something new, and if it sells, people send the message that they want it. If it doesn't, they send the message that they do want more of the classic style.

If this game stuck with the same 17 year old Tomb Raider blueprint, everyone, even the True Fans, would be complaining about using the same fucking 17 year old blueprint.

As a shooter it's not good. At all. Gears owns it. As a cohesive story/campaign, UC2 is top notch. It's definitely not a series of games that's carried by its stellar gameplay.

Perfect gif for the perfect situation.

I'll just see what its like, tbh not even the sequels have came close to the first Tomb Raider, maybe this is a fresh take & can capture the same allure the first did.
but I like Uncharted anyway, just wish it had more puzzle/platforming in it then just shooting, U3 had some neat stuff, I like the impressions I heard so far though

I wouldn't label Uncharted 2 as one of the best games from this generation when you look at it as a third person shooter or for its game play, in my opinion. It is definitely one of the best experiences for sure for going through it first time but it can easily become less impressive after that. The bane of how the game is designed but it's one of the best technical marvels to be crafted and deserves a lot of praise. I find Uncharted 1 to be the best out of the whole lot but that's because it has more freedom to me and the game play really goes well with it.

I mean, regardless, you're buying the game. If you cared that much about the classic feel, you'd wait a bit and see how it pans out.

You misspelled Resident Evil 6.

I'm so, so with you..but..let's not bring that in here. ;_;

1 is my favorite too. Followed by 3 and then finally 2.

I'm in the super minority for this though.

Vanquish is the best TPS of this generation in terms of just the raw game play. The Uncharted games don't come close but their appeal is more in the presentation which puts Vanquish to shame. A game that combines the best elements of those 2 games in a singular package would be game of the generation material.

We've got Red Dead Redemption for that.

Yeah, that's a small group, I imagine. I loved 1 though. Loved it a lot. 2 amped it all up and despite having shitty combat was still fun. 3 is probably my biggest disappointment of the gen. Not worst game ever, but most disappointing. UC1 was the first game I played on the PS3 that made me think my console purchase wasn't a total waste of money.

I myself thought Vanquish looked fantastic. The only downside to that game was it's storyline and over the top/crappy acting performances, but I "got" it.

Gideon is still cool as fuck though, regardless.

LOL no. RDR does not have the quality in mechanics of Vanquish.

That's what I meant by presentation. The story, VA, set pieces etc.
