Halo |OT15| Beta-tested, GAF approved

Binary Slayer
As IGN showed off in December, Binary Slayer features decreased gravity, increased speed, sniping and lots and lots of thrusting [bs angel note: You had me at thrusting.]. Check out the link above to learn how to build this game type through custom game options and play with your friends before the playlist goes live next week.

So much want.

Lightning CTF
Your starting weapon is the LightRifle and one shot – anywhere – kills. With a 5-second respawn, touch Flag return and no motion sensor, Lightning CTF brings an entirely new Capture the Flag experience to Action Sack and Halo 4. Also, the Flag carrier keeps the LightRifle out when running the Flag!

Nooooooooo.

Rockets & Rails
This new game mode features 3 things: Rocket Launchers, Railguns and Jet Packs. Oh, and it also has lots of explosions.

Meh.

Team Fiesta
Everyone loves parties – especially big parties with lots of random weapons. Fiesta is back, so you can now kill and be killed by the entire Halo 4 sandbox in one single game.

But Infinity is already a permanent playlist.

Action Sack seems pretty lame.

Flag weapon must be a Megalo hook. That makes me wonder how the game and Waypoint processes kills while holding the flag.

Love they somewhat redid the bulletin, looks a lot cleaner now.

Yeah likewise, my first reaction seeing everything was "hmm okay interview like usual holy wow yes"

As a graphic design major the revised bulletin is a major step in the right direction.

Or they did the Speedflag trick of attaching the flag to the player biped, while never truly picking it up as a weapon.

Maybe for this upcoming one. Even then, does a melee act like a flag melee or a LR melee? I know in the old one, at least the flag melee is considered a weapon. I don't know if it counts the flagnum as a flag kill or a magnum kill. I might check that out real quick.

EDIT: It counts it as a magnum kill. I wouldn't be surprised to see that they just swap the weapons while carrying the flag.

If they just glued it to the biped then it'll be an LR melee recorded

Futuristic enough to where the mask forms over the head on its own, but apparently juuuuuuust shitty enough to where the sides close at separate times. That makes something in my body uncomfortable...I need that symmetry.

I would have thought the way the eye-pieces look too far seperated for him to see properly would have bugged you more.

Glad that Action Sack is there for people that like that stuff. I might actually be able to get the Believe stance soon with a reliable source of Binary Rifle kills. I don't know that bringing AS back would be high on my priority list right now given the experiences available in matchmaking currently, but I can only hope that them making new gametypes like the Light Rifle CTF thing means that we can someday get Assault and 1 Flag back. The real issue I have is that crap like Infinity CTF is probably going to stick around even after Action Sack goes up even though they offer the same type of wacky random play, and that gametype ruined a playlist for me.

It counts as a magnum kill. I have 149 magnum kills in CTF and it's in none of my loadouts.

Look the same to me

Hey, today Halo 4 is 4 months old. Today we still have glitches like sounds that only sometimes play, guns that only sometimes shoot, connection quality indicators that only sometimes appear, matches that only sometimes have opponents, and a game that is only sometimes fun when it isn't absolutely fucking shitting the bed. Piece of fucking trash.

On a scale from empty to full, you are spilling over with umad right now. It's hilarious.

Picture is awesome.

It's alright. It highlights the poor job they did with the Mark VI helmet model though.

I agree with you up until the shitting the bed and trash part. The game is still decent and funner than Reach was, IMO.

It's almost like it takes time to build playlists

Do you have any insight on this? Because to me, in a simplified sense, just load up the default gametypes on the default maps and have at it.

Unless BTB objective is going to be pre-set loadouts, actually fun/balanced BTB

In which case, let them take their time.

I stopped getting mad at video games after Halo Reach came out. The anger I felt towards that game wasn't healthy. Halo 4 has it's problems but it hasn't made me mad yet. I may curse here and there after getting killed by someone using a boltshot, but that's about it.

I'm the opposite. Maybe it was Reach not being great, but I played that game regularly up until the launch of Halo 4, I can't play more than 2-3 games of infinity slayer before quitting in frustration. Though I'm mad at the game less and less. December was the worst, the screwup of the map pack, the lag issues, spartan ops first half of season, made playing the game a chore almost.

With doubles pro, throwdown and majestic, I'm finding myself enjoying the game more. For me, it's the randomness I cannot stand. I despise boltshot and yet I use it myself for that very reason.

I'm curious what their approach will be when they "focus on improving and freshening up the existing playlists." I wonder if this means new-new gametypes, or new-classic gametypes, or a culling of the lists we have now. Now is a weird time for them to be way above their ideal playlist count, since we're seeing peak population numbers that are very alarming (we're at a point where the numbers match my recollection of the Reach playlist populations on a given night).

Would you really want to play the default objective gametypes with 16 people? I'd think, or hope, they're taking the time to make significant modifications to either the gametypes or the maps to make them work. I wouldn't really want to play a CTF variant where the second I pick up the flag, 8 people are going to be pointing DMRs at the fat waypoint over my head. In the same vein, a lot of those BTB maps don't have really well-defined bases or team-specific map sections (thinking specifically of Vortex here, where it uses the weird little structures on either end of the map lengthwise as bases). I'd imagine that it'd end up being CTF (hopefully modified), Extraction (3 sites?), and then they can fold Dominion into that playlist since it hasn't been doing too hot for a long while now.

One would hope that you'd get a slimmed down experience without plasma pistols and plasma grenades everywhere, but I don't think that's in the cards for a playlist aimed at the general population.

Everything you just said isn't even whats wrong with the game. The game has major balancing and management issues, not whether or not a sound of a gun shooting sound funky for .5 of second every few matches.

I really wish that more of the ODST city had been this open. Would have been even better running around the city at night comping across an entirely abandoned street with no vehicles. Heck, I just wish the city had been bigger.

When did they remove Infinity Slayer?
