Well, there were two trailers, one from E3 and one from the VGAs, both spoilery. I think you hadn't seen the one from E3 and were spoiled by the VGA trailer. I might be misremembering though.

I actually wrote E3 at first and then edited it into VGAs cause I cant remember

I hope it's Lords of Shadow 1 and comes at a good price. Combat was somewhere between God of War and DMC/Bayonetta in quality but I never got to finish it because of the framerate.

I found it interesting that in-betweens tages your health does not recover, gives you a different way to approach or fight out your battles.

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
I didn't finish Castlevania cause half way through the game I thought it was poop. I saw the ending from the Giantbomb premium stream. Cool ending, I guess

Hmm, I've been looking into the Rise of Nations story more.

Given the Kingdoms of Amalur sale and Tony from Amazon (I heard this anecdotally from someone else while I was Googling) saying he had talked to Rhode Island about Steam keys for KoA and the RoN gold master, it would sound like its the original version and Rhode Island trying to make money on it. But, with the achievements in the Steam database and the Age of Empires remake, it would look like a remake. Does Rhode Island own Rise of Nations or does Microsoft Game Studios? If the later, I would guess remake.

I've played this game for hundreds of hours if I seem a little obsessed.

Dude, these are two separate incidents.

KoA is owned by Rhode Island now. Apparently they were able to finally come to a deal with both Amazon and Valve.
Likely Tony pushing them to realize they could monetize this lost caused them to get into contact with Valve. They had alluded to them being stubborn on the issue earlier, the price drop and the sale would lead me to believe they finally figured it out.

Microsoft owns Rise of Nations. They seem to be dropping GFWL and bringing their classic library, as well as their newest releases, to Steamworks.

Lords of Shadow was awesome despite the pre-chapter monologues by Patrick Stewart and the cinematic framerate. I would instantly buy the PC version if the price is good enough.
The writing must be truly awful if monologues by Patrick Stewart actually made a game worse instead of better. It'd be like saying "Well, other than Morgan Freeman narrating the audio logs, Game XYZ was awesome."

Is anyone else finding all these console games getting ported over the last month or so a bit weird? granted Valve did have a meeting with indie and Japanese devs a few months ago, but it's like every week or so we got some game we though that would never come to PC.

I dunno but the more games the better.

I consider that a good thing.

Isn't it obvious? So Gabe can put more hats into TF2.

(and more enemies in L4D2)

Deadlight probably has the worst controls I've ever seen in a 2D platformer. I don't know if I can't take it much longer. Fortunately I've read it's like 5 hours long, and I've already played it for 3 hours or so.

It's not a BAD game, but those controls... I'm gonna have nightmares tonight.

didnt have an issue with the controls

deadlight's biggest issues where the crappy story and voice acting

dude said everything he needed every 2 minutes, game treated me like an idiot

dude talking to himself: "OH I SHOULD PROBABLY GO PULL THAT LEVER"

fuck you videogame

Remember the days we were hyping EA coming to Steam with Dead Space 1 and Mirrors Edge? Now we're getting Microsoft treasures and Capcom conglaborations with Valve as well as more Japanese support. How far we've come.

Yeah I don't know what's up but I'm loving the timing, building a gaming pc is feeling like the best idea ever.

well im not talking about the games, Mirror's Edge might just be one of my favorite games of all time. What's funny is that I never even bought it on Steam until last year, I got a retail copy.

Dead Space 2 retroactively ruined Dead Space 1 for me though

kinda like the matrix sequels

Mirrors Edge is the only EA game I would be looking forward to if not for it likely being ruined due to EA.

I just finished Psychonauts for like the fifth time now(PS2 twice back when it released and twice on PC before they added steamworks). Got all but 4 achievements and spent the week playing from start to finish. They really need a sequel. I'm getting withdrawals now. :(

So my credit card has some fraud charges on it and now my money is locked. Almost talked the wife into KOA. Oh well. To celebrate here are some keys. Quote to reveal.

Put a couple hours into I am alive so far and I'm not sure what to think. I can see the potential with the things they are trying but so far it has been hampered by a fear of letting the player actually die. Every climbing section seems to be just short enough for your stamina bar (or if you actually do run out they let you have an emergency mash the button sequence that lets you make up the distance without falling, so why fucking bother having a stamina bar?) and there seems to be just enough health/stamina items in your path to avoid having a real shortage.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.

Given how late the port is, it'd be nice if it doubled as a pre-purchase incentive for the sequel.

I don't really mind the voice acting, I've heard worse. It's not good at all, but completely tolerable. The same with the story, it's your typical zombie apocalypse crap.

What I can't stand is the stupid way Randy moves. Many times I've tried to jump to a platform and ended up jumping to the opposite side, falling to my doom. He turns kinda slowly, takes a long time to start running, falls to the ground due to tripping with random boxes and stuff, drowns in a 2 meters deep pool of water and climbs ladders SO slowly.

Seriously, how can it have worse controls than many NES Commodore 64 games? It really puts me off.

The cutscenes in Deadlight are a work of art.
Nah, I don't like that drawing style.

Its not weird, these developers are finding they can make a significant amount of their revenue, or the majority of their revenue, from the PC market.

The amount of growth we have had in the last couple years has been unprecedented. I'm liking the health of the platform as we roll into the next generation.

The only thing I'm worried about is the PS4 is so under powered compared to PCs right now. We could have a situation where middle-range PCs are significantly ahead of next generation consoles before they are even released.

That isn't good for the lifetime of the consoles.

VANQUIS, SEGA/PLATINUM, VANQUISH!!!

Now Castlevania too? How long before the above happens? Like you guys are saying, best time to build a gaming PC!

Castlevania has been known for a little while now, I'm hoping its a sign of things to come from Konami.

MGS series

Ah, I had no idea about Castlevania so, damn, I wasn't expecting it!

And, yeah, that other series should come. And the Silent Hill games. Oh, and how about Gradius V? Zone of the Enders? Don't tell me you people wouldn't want Z.O.E. on PC! (I know, I know, PS2 emu.)
