EA censors its own support number on its forums

all my loli wolf companions are so moe

Hahaha oh wow.

The way I remember it:
- early 90s (snes gen) they were the guys who made these huge Genesis cartridges and 9 times out of 10, these big carts held good games.
- late 90s-early 00s (ps1 gen) they fucked Westwood and Origin, I hated them for it. But they did MoH and they were part of Square Electronic Arts. So they were okayish.
- PS2 gen: they were essentially reviled assholes, because they closed studios and were uber derivative. Which funnily enough describes 90% of current pubs.
- early this gen, we had some kind of Renaissance, embodied by Mirror's Edge, with new IPs being developed and not too many stories of depressed employees.
- this changed later in the gen when they somehow felt the innovations the market was looking forward to were the kinds that could fuck the consumer as hard as possible.

So yeah, it's been a roller coaster.

Yeah it is. It really is saddening :<

Watch BF4 not have singleplayer at all and just be multiplayer with that online store you mentioned.

If it didn't have singleplayer then it would be like all the battlefield games before it and it would be a good thing (console company 2 is not a battlefield game, then again neither is bf3)

jesus EA. There was the briefest moment of time there, the briefest infinitesimal stretch of time when you were making Mirror's Edge and Dead Space and I thought maybe they were starting to understand how to be great... and then...

This has to be one of the worst launches of any product I've ever seen in my life. And the sad thing is I don't think EA will learn anything from it.

You'll have to buy ammo and vehicle fuel with real money.

You get 90 bullets every hour, and if you want to fire more, .99 cents. Each time.

You can only join 5 servers (This'll be to "prevent server-hopping and preserve game balance") per 24 hour period, and must pay 4.99 for another 5-server pass.

Calling it now.

This makes no sense at all. What was the plan, block the number to prevent people from calling it and then no one would notice the number disappearing?

I'd only want SP in a Battlefield game if they went back to the BC1 formula. BF never needed SP in the past and BC2 and BF3's campaigns were abysmal.

i'm starting to think their turn around and subsequently swift change in the eyes of gamers casual and hardcore alike was a complete and total accident.

Personally, I'd say Bad Company 2 is a better game for better use of environment destruction, loads of visualy different areas to fight in, and less EA milking it dry

Lucy Bradshaw: "You don't want to call EA Support."

Heh, that is a win.

Still though, they have always seemed to make it hard to find their number, and does a good job hiding it behind menu's. That probably isn't far from satire at this point.

Dammit, I really want to get Need For Speed for Wii U because Criterion put a lot of effort into it, but I don't want to support EA. I feel so conflicted.

EA's damage control for the Sim City fiasco seems inspired by no less than the Chinese gov't: censorship, lies, and placating baby-talk spin about how wonderful everything is. Aim high, EA.

If it wasn't for ME2 and 3, EA would have none of my money. I hate it when behemoth publishers gobble up developer's you love.

Loop that MIA vid forever.

Why drive people to call your customer support line when you are trying to get them to fix their own problems with the forum?

Smart strategy . . . but dick move.

"Sorry for interrupting you while you attempt to play simcity while also attempting to call our customer support line for a refund while also browsing various Internet forums and having a chuckle at our expense, but this is also part of our vision"

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
Battlefield 4 will pioneer the hourly cost of playing online. Of course you already pay for the €60 for the boxed game or €80 for the digital version and a monthly €19.99 for them storing your data. To actually play the game you have to pay €0.99 per hour. This includes playing single player.

I'd be avoiding calls too if a bunch of uninformed redditors kept calling me trying to get their money back because they don't understand the difference between DRM and an online game.

Awww, what's the matter, your precious SimCity getting shafted up the ass big-time because of its shitty DRM?

I know I've said similar things about EA in previous threads, but they keep outdoing themselves in horrible customer service/goodwill to the point where my EA boycott is giving me actual practical benefits in life i.e. not having headaches from trying to use products I've purchased.

"Never installing Origin" simply because of the EA logo is working out with zero regret for me.

This entire SimCity circus has not only entertained me but in a round about way caused my impending first playthrough of Half-Life 1.

Looking at SimCity 2000 on GOG ->
Seeing what the other best Mac games are on GOG ->
Switching to the Steam site and looking at the Mac sales ->
Looking at the highest rated Steam Mac games overall ->
BAM there is Half-Life 1 sitting at the top

Not sure how I went almost 2 months without hearing about this.

Thanks EA!

I don't think I've posted a single thing in any of the EA controversy topics regarding this topic. And honestly it's because I don't even know what to say when I read all this shit. So dumb.

Lucy Bradshaw: "You don't want to call EA Support."

"I'll keep this short since almost everyone who cares has already received support. We are currently putting the idle EA support phone servers to good use by having them offload some of the computations in the cloud, allowing even more people to enjoy building cities and making friends in SimCity while also saving them money on their electricity bills."

Can I be gone for one day without EA doing something completely ridiculous?
For God's sake, I just want to purchase this game, and play alone.

There's an idea, maybe someone here can code up a Lucy Bradshaw Statement Generator. It'd be hilarious!

EA's beta EULA says they'll ban users for not reporting bugs. "Whoops. Obviously we'd never do that"

EA bans people talking the game down on the forums. "Whoops, you had unsubscribed from our newsletter. It was a bug."

EA is caught lying about their simulation system. "Whoops, we never meant to say that"

EA removes legitimate user's cd-keys. "Whoops, we're fixing it now"

EA says it would take massive re-engineering to play the game offline. Modder says otherwise. "Whoops, but you don't want to play offline"

EA systematically deletes threads mentioning mods (even a thread about "mods and rockers"). "Whoops. Obviously we support modders!"

EA censors the support number on their forum. What will they say? "Whoops, we mistook the word 'fuck' for our support number"?

At this point, I'm left wondering what other crap EA is up to that they'll just go "whoops. Honest mistake?" about when they're found out.

If there was justice in the world, EA would not have the last laugh here, but they will, and we all know it.

We'd love for them to look at some financial document later in the year and think "yeah, we really felt a hit after the Sim City fiasco", but no, there won't even be the lightest of hits. They'll be laughing about this well before Battlefield 4 releases.

Heh, latest Sims 3 updated added Maxis logo intro.

I always thought Maxis was "dissolved" by merging into EA.

Maybe they outsourced their PR staff to the same place that does their online support chat. How long until they censor that?

Holy shit. When they won that worst company in America award I thought it was just hyperbole... Apparently EA wants to prove they deserve it.

It's over, period. EA lost their last ace, and that's the end of their hopes and dreams.

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for EA. EA has nothing left, nothing they can reveal tomorrow would fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for any one, hardcore or casual, to substantively invest in EA.

The age of EA is done.

Madden and FIFA will make them all the money in the world. Again. Sadly.

Hey, someone mentioned making a timeline for this whole disaster... I am already starting work on one to share with you guys. Somebody in here who wants to help me with that?
