EA censors its own support number on its forums

This is amazing. How did a company this incompetent become one of the biggest in the game industry? At least Activision is just staying to the tried and true "beating a successful franchise like a dead horse" strategy that they always have. It seems with each new release EA does, they dig their own hole deeper.

Activision invented the idea of putting the skinnerbox and gambling mechanics into multiplayer shooters... It's was one of the most cynical and most contemptuous towards their audience changes one could ever make.

Activision are a special breed of Evil, the difference with EA is that they are much more competent, they manage to lower the bar and sneak in these new farming tactics without offending any but the most observant of their users.

EA just stumbles over their own feet when trying to do the same then agressively doubles down when they get caught while displaying their contempt for the user like the feathered tail on a peacock.

This stuff made me think: when was the last time Activision did something this blatantly anti-consumer (DLC doesn't count)?

I always figured Activision were just greedy rather than evil.

I always thought this summed it up well:
To Activision you're a peasant, they need you to continue their riches and enjoy their decadent lifestyle but they really don't care about you.

EA fucking hates you.

As we say in Europe when we see FC Barcelona playing, we're living glorious times :) Thanks EA to keep digging, for us, for 'Murica.

I'm not sure it is possible to have this bad of PR combined with anti-consumer policies, so Activision probably cant compete.

Damn, EA is in full blown "get the $@!* out of my office" mode. As if people aren't pissed off with them over Sim City enough.

I'd love to hear the PR spin of this one though. I'm not sure how many strikes they can get within such a short period of time.

I just hope DICE keeps some of their power against EA instead of following the same fate as some of the other recent games.

I honestly can't even remember the last EA game I purchased (think it might be Amaular).

I actually think I've added years to my life by not purchasing their shit, so in that regards, thanks EA.

At this point I can't help thinking that they're doing this shit on purpose. I mean, no other company can give such a lack of fucks for the consumer, right?

Right now EA is nothing but a joke in bad taste.

Wow, this is appalling. I'm glad that I haven't purchased any of their games since Mirror's Edge (aside from a super low Steam sale purchase from a year ago). What a terrible company.

I envy your optimism.

Keeps some of their power? They've been a subsidiary of EA for like 5-6 years now.

Edit:

Never mind, misunderstood the post.

I bought BF3 at launch but I think I'm gonna wait a few weeks / for a sale for BF4. Gives me time to gauge how much of EA's anti-consumer bullshit is in the game.

What is the logic behind this. My god...This company.

This is the most drawn out train-wreck I've ever seen. At this point, I'll be shocked if they don't get worst company in America on consumerist again this year.

This whole generation it seemed like ea was saying "oh shit, activision might outpace us in evil, we better step up our game."

It's kind of amazing to watch how much they really don't give a fuck.

You reap what you sow.

EA clearly doesn't care and anyone buying into the always online
DRM is only making the situation worse.

As long as people support these always online games, you'll be dealing
with these problems. Is that fun?

You know what's funny? Midway through this gen EA won back a LOT of gamer favor and negative opinion of them really turned around.

Then they pissed it all away.

EA can't go back on it now since it seems to be one of their strategies going forward. BF4 is rumored to be an always-online game. I doubt that they'll say anything about that GDC with all the craziness going around SimCity right now.

Patrick was saying on the Bombcast last week that it was ridiculous and unfair for people to characterize EA as this evil empire and the worst company out there.

I feel like, while this is the kind of field that is emotionally charged and there may be worse employers out there and people polluting the environment, these guys earn every last bit of criticism they get.

Take a look at what happened to their financial results and stock during that period. They pissed it all away for good reason.

EA need to stick to shitting out Madden, FIFA and their other franchise games every year because they're too incompetent to do anything else successfully.

There's just no way to spin this, right? I'd love to see someone try. We'll probably just get the ol' silent treatment instead.

I fear the worst for BF4. As a Battlefield fan, hearing more and more of EA's shit like this makes me worry.

It'll be full of micro transactions(most likely an online store as well).

Now as the BF series is mainly known for multiplayer, the online connection
doesn't bother me. It's when single player games require it. Dead set against it.

Watch BF4 not have singleplayer at all and just be multiplayer with that online store you mentioned.
